Artifact refinement unannounced change

I've been experimenting today with artifact refinement and got to really disappointing conclusion.

When refining artifact with another artifact of the same type it isn't calculated as 2x rp any more. Haven't noticed any change like that in the patches recently, maybe I missed it.
So, it starts as even more than 2x for low rp, then around 600k rp worth artifact it starts dropping below 2x and, somewhere around 2.5mil, it even goes in negative, or better say it starts going below rp value of the artifact used.

The above stated means that artifacts became useless for refining other artifacts and, again, if I missed it can someone point me to the patch notes stating that change.

Update on topic:

Artifacts used were of the same type, all were Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogues.

Did some more testing, function used for calculating refine points is actually logarithmic function.
Meaning, at start while still rp worth is low, it gives a lot and later, when artifact is filled with rp, it gives less than its value.

Tried up to 4mil rp worth, that one gives only 3mil rp if used to refine next empty artifact.

Sorry, but you are simply wrong. There is no issue here. Everything is working as intended.

Let's say you feed 4M rp to an artifact and then use it to feed into a matching one (which is actually a silly thing to do, but I assume you are doing this on Preview for experimenting, so I'll ignore that).

4.000.000 would be enough to get it to rank 100 and it would give 5x596,620 or 2.983.100 if fed into another artifact, or 3M as you said. That is exactly how it has always been.

Now, if you would wait until the next 2xRP event, the artifact would give 5.966.200 RP - a net gain of almost 2M.

I think you are confusing artifacts (which give 5xRP to matching ones, 10xRP during 2xevents) with artifact weapons (which always give 2xRP to matching weapons).
    Hoping for improvements...

In this case I'm talking about artifact (not weapon) that is worth 4mil, it is already lvl 100 artifact and should, according to you, give 5xRP.

Now, can you explain me why is 4mil calculated as 5x 596,620 RP and gives less total RP when fed into brand new exactly the same artifact ?

I did that on, say, 10 or more artifacts before and it always worked as 2x (even 4x on crits) of the actual feeder artifact RP.

5x RP now works (and tooltip states it) only for green quality artifact as a feeder, everything above is logarithmic function (values drop terribly as invested rp rises).

To be honest, last artifact I had to level was before mod10 and back then it wasn't like this or I was lucky and always had crits that I haven't payed attention to.

    EDIT:

I was obviously wrong so this thread can be deleted.

Seems that I was doing refines on artifacts during double RP always.

    See the table at http://neverwinter.gamepedia.com/Artifact

You need 3,847,635 RPs to get an artifact to rank 100. At that point it has a base RP value of 596,620, which is what you get if you put it into a non-matching artifact outside 2xRP.

You get 5 times that, or 2.983.100 if you put it into a matching artifact outside 2xRP and 10 times the base value or 5.966.200 if you put it into a matching artifact during 2xRP.

The way the math works out, with current RP cost and cost of marks is that the cheapest way to get artifacts to mythic is to use the 6-feeder approach, as described here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Neverwinter/comments/4egvc6/a_visual_guide_to_refining_mythic_artifacts

On the PC it used to be cheaper to use no feeders than to use the 6-feeder approach, but that was when we had plenty of...eh, "alternative low-cost suppliers" ... basically, botters selling cheap R4/R5 stacks. At that time, the cost of the feeder artifacts and extra marks outweighted the benefit of using less RPs,

That has changed now, so the feeder approach is the way to go.

Which is the only way the feeder system works, so it's the way to go.
