Hmmm thank you for the replies about the Imperial Rod I mentioned earlier. I have a quick question and wondered if it is that good for PvP, should I go ahead and swap my Mythic LM Horn for it? The Horn is just gathering dust in my Bank now ever since I maxed out the Orcus Set.

Rod is good for combat HR stuns for a few seconds

I see some use Horn in pvp also actually but rod has a huge area of effect that can be used to both offensive and defensive ends.

I will test Horn but I can absolutely say that rod does make a difference when it comes to be able to land burst damage both as hybrid and combat.

I just have to say, I never used the Horn in PvP. I only had it for the set bonus and stats... but it has become obsolete and I can swap it for another Mythic in the PE claims/rewards dude :)

Lucky you. The vendor was removed on pc version quite some time ago. The Horn is actually very good as an active - it deals 27k damage in a frontal cone which more than most other artifacts can manage. Pity about the Control Bonus though.

I had wondered if that merchant will vanish at some point so thank you for confirming that :)

Hmmm the Horn is hell of a lot more expensive than the Rod. I could just pick a Rod up for very cheap off the AH on the Xbox. Urgh, just means levelling up yet another Artefact to Mythic lol.

    @lirithiel I swear she's still there....?

They weren't going to remove without warning, they said, and there's never been a warning.

Boy, am I lucky then that the antiquities scholar on my version is still in the same place she's always been next to the rewards/claims vendor.

Looked a few days back and lo-and-behold, she is indeed still there. I could have sworn she was removed a month after her appearance. My bad.

After a while of sticking with and experimenting with this build, in my opinion it just can't compete with the burst damage of a full combat build. I respecced to full combat with a vorpal today and immediately had no problem with 4k GFs. GWFs were easy pickings if they were dumb enough to go toe to toe with me. Once I'd exhausted a 4k paladin's divine whateverthefrak and his team left him alone on a node I took him down 1v1 with help from the rod of imperial restraint. I couldn't have done any of that with the hybrid build.

This is a good build for preserving the trapper playstyle and getting some piercing damage, but in my opinion, like full trapper it doesn't have enough control and doesn't have enough damage in pvp.

It is true combat has higher burst damage without a doubt it is also true that hybrid has higher sustained damage without a doubt..

Hybrid is better in pve and demands more in pvp when it comes to gear and play style.
It is ease to achieve higher burst damage with combat as it should be but again hybrid is much more versatile with more options on the table due to a lot faster rotations.

I went 84-2 in my last 10 matches (granted I had a good run there  ) even if the win was 6-4.
If I need more burst I switch to ambush and for more survive-ability fox and again more sustained thorn.

I now also switched to have 3 points for 30% extra crit severity for higher burst damage.

The larger gain for being hybrid is probably that you coop better at switching between pve/pvp and that you can keep the intense play style from trapper but any who find combat better should ofc switch to that and be happy that we now at least have 2 playable path's to pick from :-)..

For pvp do you guys roll halfling or do some have success with other races?

I know, technically, the halfling is better with the extra 3% deflect and control resist but...since I bought the dragonborn bundle I kind of want to go dragonborn for the extra power/crit. That and because I spent the money on it >.<. This would be a pve/pvp hunter by the way.

Comes down to play style, dragonborn more damage - hafling more survive-ability...

With all new stable boons etc dragonborn might not need it but it is also how you gear/build, don't forget that the new end boon for this expansion is 5k damage on deflect (no idea if it has idc though).

THE BEST HR I know in game are Halfing trappers or Dragon Born full combat those I meet are the monsters with 170k plus HPs and get like 20 kills a game. The hybrid build does give you a fairly decent PVE side as well with LS cordon and ROA or thorn ward

yea well 4.2 IL full SH boons do help them a lot also :-). But yea if you have 32k power+ and 170k hp all rank 12 most classes are a pain to face atm broken sparks and sw abusing them is not very fun in pvp ....

    I personally run a Drow on the X1 :)

Love the way she looks etc and the stats etc are not bad. I unlocked Dragonborn like a year ago but they are soooooo ugly I just cannot use one lol.

I personally play drow same as WD for the looks and was ;little as a kid and no desire to be small or ugly as Dragon born but you got to respect what the clss full on can give as a HR

I wish that like mount bonuses you could select the racial, but keep the look of another race. I suppose that would defeat the point.

Same as above, I know the racials on hobbitzes and lizards are better for pvp, but just can't face being one.
No idea what my toon is now.
  • metikulousmetikulous Member Posts: 47 Arc User
That would good but no way they turn down money from people buying race reroll tokens.

Right now I'm debating between human/halfling TR and dragonborn/halfling HR for when I get tired of playing my....halfling GWF lol.
