As I understand how the drop rates work its a percentage chance per time. So if the drap rate is for example 3% (I have no clue what it is, just example) you have 30 times to get a 3% chance at whatever drops. Not 90% chance (3%30).
Now on top of that is something commonly referred to as a loot table most mmos use for just about everything. The loot table contains the items that actually drop from the specific item you open/interact with. The box in this case. On this table or chart is all the items the box can possibley drop and usually another percentage or other formula as to how the specific item drops.
So here is how it usually works. You open the box and a roll is made. Either you win something or you dont. If you win than another roll is made as to what that item will be. And each time you open a box the process is repeated from the start.
This is just as simple an explanation as I can think of as to how I understand it to work. This could be totally wrong altogether and the actual formulas are usually more compex but this should hopefully give you a better understanding of why you did not get the reward you expected/wanted.
My advice to open at least 60 in row. Though with my last 60 it was only one coalescent ward in #55.
True, the more boxes you can open, the better. Remember the statistics of this game does not revolve around you. You'll have to fight for that lucky drop with everyone else. It's like a daily raffle. The more tickets you own for a certain draw, the more chances you have of winning.
"As the good archmage often admonishes me, I ought not to let my mind wander, as it's too small to go off by itself." -Danilo Thann[/quote]
I really fail to see why opening a higher number of something in as shorter period makes any difference. If anything, waiting between boxes is probably better, because the RNG in this game is notoriously streaky.
I would suggest slowly plodding away at a box every 30 seconds till you hit something you want, then lblasting through the rest as fast as humanly possible Otherwise, opening multiple at once does nothing except condense all the emotion of opening the lottery box multiple times into a shorter period. For all you know, you could have ogtten that legendary mount 30 days ago, but you decided to wait till you had a stack of keys or boxes.

my observation that best openings are in low populated hours in work days (like early morning Monday in CET).

This is normal. The drop rate of Coal. Wards from the Invokation coffers is around 3%, so it is very rare.
I hope next you open, it drops.
Have fun.
