Looking for advise

kd0g22kd0g22 Member Posts: 7 Arc User
Hey guys I'm new to the forums so forgive me if the answers I'm looking for have been posted before.
I'm have been playing NW on Xbox for a while but recently gotten really into it. I'm new to the endgame stuff. Currently have a GWF at 65 and have been struggling with him. Respec'd him last night and saw a huge improvement, I enjoyed playing him again. However I am struggling on how to find good gear. I am standing at around 1300 gear rating and have no idea how to improve that and unlock the epic dungeons (without buying with AD or Z). I have been farming the Spider Temple and the level 59 mind-flayer skirmish ( I forget the name) but never seem to get anything better than I already have. Usually the gear rating may be higher but the stats are worse than what I have.
Any advise would be appreciated :)

I don't have a GWF but from a general position I'd say you should level up Jewellery Crafting to make personalised gemmed exquisite rings of piercing, buy the lostmauth set from the AH for DPS, get all rank 7 enchantments with a view to improving them later, buy gemmed elemental pants and shirt (warrior) and work on getting T1 armor.

Of course all of this is L70 - so the first thing to so is get there! Until then just focus on levelling. After you reach 70 you should also go straight to Sharandar and Dread Ring to start on boons - you should already be doing the Tyranny boons.

Thanks. I am working on Tyranny atm and have been looking at equipment I can buy with AD but as you say I need to be level 70. If this is the only way I'm happy to grind out the levels and work on gear later. Was just wondering if there was a way to do something now as I read T1 dungeons can be unlocked at level 60.
Is there a way of knowing if you have received all the AD to be gained from skirmishes/dungeons each day? All Rhix says now is you can earn so much per day.

buy blue gear on the ah. it's not very expensive and you can pick and choose with your stats. Get your enchants up to level 7. get all the artifact slots you can filled up and try getting them to at least blue. buy ensorcelled weapons. (search for ens and epic quality and usable by me and you should get a lot of hits. it will level with you. artifact gear is better when you get it because of the class bonus's but for just getting to a competitive level it might be better to use the ensorcelled while levelling the artifact gear a little in your inventory.

A GWF is my main and I would recommend "Lia Knowles" build if you wanna check yours compared to it as for gear the best gear you can get during leveling would be the gear each leveling zone rewards you with.I was a pre-60 max so i did have the 60 double slot rings and things like that but you should be fine leveling up for god sakes I leveled a DPS DC in 3 days to 70. X3 lol

First off, continue to level up. Complete all your vigilance quests in spinward rise and you'll receive your artifact weapon (main-hand). Once you reach level 70, you'll get your off-hand. In the meantime, identify the items you find from enemies and rock with that for a little bit or you can buy blue gear from the auction house, as someone else had suggested. Make sure to max out your armor penetration, since it's the easiest stat to do. Aim for 60% resistance ignored. It'll take a while to really balance your stats, but you should definitely work on leveling your jewelcrafting to 25 so you can make personalized rings. These rings have an offense and defense slot, so equipping them with a level 7 or higher enchantment will boost your item level. If you have the spare AD, you can purchase eternal gear from the vendor in The Well of Dragons, which will suffice until you start doing the harder stuff.

Other than that, grind to 70 and manage to get your item level to 1,600 to unlock the other dungeons and skirmishes. Keep in mind that, the better your stats are, the higher your iL will be. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. My main is a GWF.

Complete all level 60 to 70 maps (that means follow complete vigilance tasks until you get the storyline quests to get the seed on each map); you'll get a nice shirt, pants, off-hand artifact, and main artifact as you progress.

Although Rubilotus is right about ArmPen, it's likely you won't max it out yet... It'll probably stay around 40-50%. So, priority wise, focus on ArmPen and then on Crit. For health, focus on HP and defense; other stats won't be of much use for you while levelling. Darks in offense slots, azures in defense slots, and if you wanna level up faster azures in utility slots.

Review your powers, feats, and boons; you might need to respec. Lia Knowles' and Lazalia's builds are very good guides for building a high-crit GWF.

Ask away! We're here to help.

Purchase BLUE Level 70 gear when you reach the level cap from the Auction House preferably with Piercing (Armor Penetration) in the name for starters. Jewel crafting Lv.25 is a must to craft your personalized double slotted rings. You can purchase or craft (I chose purchase) your new gemmed shirt and pants. Look up builds on MMO minds as well if you hadn't already to see what enchants, powers, boons, feats to use.

The point we've all neglected to answer so far is your question on dungeons. I don't believe you can unlock the 1600 dungeons pre L70 but even if you can you probably shouldn't. Your armor would not be good enough to keep you alive and unless you're in a guild team you'd probably get kicked.

You are doing the right things for AD for now and as you've noticed you should ignore IL and go by stats with armor. Don't try to artificially increase your IL, it won't help.

To check how much AD you've had in a day just refine as you go - it'll tell you "you've refined XX today and can refine a further YY". That pretty much tells you how much you've earned. Bear in mind that amount goes up as you level.

Fireside is right in that you should consider ensorcelled weapons. As he said, they level with you and stat wise are actually better than artifact weapons when they are blue.

Thanks guys and girls for the advice, really appreciate it.
I have already respec'd folloing Lia's build and instantly noticed a huge improvement on my dps to my own build. Certainly enjoying the GWF again.
Working on Vigilance tasks, believe I have completed 2 maps already.
Will look into your other points :)

I know how to check how much AD I can refine pet day. Just wondering how to check if you have earnt as much as you can from dungeon runs? Before I remember Rhix gave you a task to run X dungeon X times and you got your AD. Now I seem to earn a little everytine I run!

Oh yes, sorry about that. First two dungeons give you 4500 RAD each. "First" two skirmishes give you 2250 RAD each; and I say "first" cause it doesn't really seem to apply for these. Take into account that the amount you receive may be a bit higher if you have VIP, and also the amount seems to vary a bit (sometimes it's slightly higher and others slightly lower).

Say you may have guessed, it's not worth running more than two dungeons per day when it comes to farming RAD.

On my 1st alt I got to lvl70 during a x2XP event. But I never left Drowned Shore at all. So I was still wearing my Avatar War Gear from MOD5 when going into Shores/ELOL/ECC/ETOS. A nice 40k HP, was not too helpful. But I did it and now I have full Elven.

Note: I would not suggest this to anyone unless you can handle yourself and/or have a guild that will almost carry you through those dungeons to get seals. Also it can be noted that you do not need to complete these zones to obtain your Artifact Main hand OR Off Hand. Main-Hand can be obtained via the Dragonforged Artifact Task in the Tyranny of Dragons Campaign, and Off-Hand is obtained from Lord N once you hit lvl70.
  • (It's advice)

Continue to level up, you're not done yet :) The grind from 60-70 is kinda long but there's always people in those hamster wheel areas (Drowned Shore, Fiery Pit, etc) grinding hard so a bit of friendly social teamwork makes it go a lot faster than insisting on soloing it all -- grab the quests, group up with whoever is around and bang quests out one after another until you're Lv70.

Until that point you really don't need any special gear, and to be honest it's all disposable garbage at those levels anyway. Get to Lv70 then buy yourself a full standard issue set of Lv70/115 gear from the auction house, it's a very inexpensive investment -- you need only the cheapest items available for the sake of having a complete beginner's set to build from.

The game kinda starts from there. That's when you'll need to start worrying about what you're worried about now. So get there first :)
