Im kind of a newbie 2.5 IL and just gearing ....
Yesterday i was send to fight Ekdos The Cruel with Many DPS guildies and only 1 OP i guess....
I Died like 30 Times and spend a lot in Injuries Kits!!! Ended up so Pissed!!!
This Dragon is not for newbies!!!omg!!!
Now just reading the forums i found out this Dragon is considered the hardest!!!!
People should be Aware that Red and Green Dragon are the Easiest and more doable for newbies
and only send all your GEARED and BIS GUILDIES to fight this stupid Blue dragon (same apply to Black as well)!!!
Let it be known!!

Im pretty sure the NPC which explains rules of the dragonflight tells you the same - Green/Red are easy, Black/Blue are hard. Also, Black is as easy as Red... until you die and leave a ghost, then there its usually a domino effect for your party. Its better to sacrifice 20-30s of DPS and abandon the dragon completely to make Ghosts disappear and regroup, rather than dying and coming back over and over again and dying again, one by one. Its also strongly suggested to have 2 tanks who can communicate and swap aggro when the broken shield debuff becomes too strong. The debuff lasts moreover as long as applying 2 stacks of new debuff, so you can rotate aggro like that: 1st tank gets 2 stacks of debuff and 2nd tank takes and maintains aggro, until he gets 2 stacks of debuff - 1st tanks debuffs are going to clear now and he can take aggro again. I dont know if there is any way to clear the debuff, thats just how my guild does it.

Low IL Melee fighters and people, who can't survive near a dragon should not go near it. If you die, the people near you die as well. Just go and kill the empowerers. With no empowerer up, I take around 10-20k damage per ghost hit, where I get oneshotted with 1-3 empowerer up. But people think it's a shame going for empowerers and not the dragon. You can kill red and green just running around like chickens, but you need to organize your team in black, need tanks and DCs as well, buffing your DR and lower dragons damage, have to decide who can go near it, and who is better at empo killing.
Also, ranged do better in this fight.
My story is truly a grand tale! Of course, any story about me is going to be grand simply by virtue of the main character.

It sounds like whoever is organising the groups in your guild might need to reassess their assignments. And as a guild, you probably need to coordinate tactics on the different dragons.

However, Black (Ekdos) and Blue (Chrysos), do not require BIS characters. Each of them have their own tactics, and require more coordination than Red/Green. All 4 dragons will become over powered if you don't take out Empowereds.

With Black, the ghost can cause everyone around to die - they need to be kited away (and having a little bit more ranged down south doesn't hurt either).

For Blue, it's all about the person that has aggro - they get the Lightning damage over time. They MUST stay alive, otherwise its a whole arena wipe (well, mostly, there are ways to stay alive). Tanks always need to go in first, I cannot stress this enough.

For black, if there is a ghost close to you, act like a tour guide and direct the ghost out of the ring. You don't have to be the hero to hit the dragon. Taking harm away from your gang helps a lot.

The way my guild does it to so send ONLY ranged DPS to Ekdos. Melees, tanks, and healers all go to some other dragon, and all ranged DPS switch their Soulforged enchants to some other armor enchant or take it off. Everyone spreads out out, if you see a wraith coming towards you, run until it stops chasing you. That's it.

Without a tank some of our random DPS will get one-shot by some random attack the dragon has (not sure what it is, but we've all experienced going from alive to dead with no indication we were being targeted with anything) but because we're spread out everyone else is fine and able to get away from the wraiths. The one person who died runs back, the fight keeps going. Only problem we've ever had doing this is on the days we don't have enough ranged DPS online to get him down fast enough. With 5-7 good ranged DPS and nothing else he goes down pretty easy.

Our guild usually does not have that luxury. We basically have 2 groups. Red/Blue group and Green/Black group. Green/Black group usually has less people. If the Green goes down fast and Red/Blue are okay to deal with Blue, Green goes Black. If there is trouble in Blue, Green goes Blue. Red and Green have 2 person each to stay behind to finish the job at the right time.

Actually Black dragon is easier, compared to Blue one. Black dragon never mass-kills everyone around it without any possibility to avoid.
Blue dragon on the other hand, when in bad mood (e.g. not always), mass-kills everyone around him every 10 seconds. People with Soulforged armor survive for 10 secs, but are killed on next swing. It is not happening always (e.g not on every fight, but if fight starts like this is is consistent until dragon dies), and is not related to empowerment. Range of attacks on blue dragon is also significantly greater - it covers entire fighting area, not just some small circle around dragon. There is also bug on some AOE red zone circles. Sometimes, they appear for less that second, then they disappear (become invisible). But still next lightning hits there and kills you if you didn't move. Lag also makes this 100% deadly.

If my observation is correct, if the character gets the lightning bolt on top of his head and he died, it will have a mass surge in the whole court. If more than one character (or the same character gets it again and again) is not careful and be marked with lightning bolt, you get the wipe again and again.

This is IMHO a really good strategy.
