  • Would that help the issue of access though? If the point is "I don't want to run all the way back" wouldn't putting them upstairs feel equally inconvenient?
  • No, It just isn't in yet. It has nothing to do with your computer. The LOD pass was one of the last things we did, and so it didn't make it to Tribble. It should be in tomorrow's live build. If you still see issues then, please bring it up.
  • Thanks! (FYI: Anything discussed below about changes, are not going to be in tomorrow's build, that's already made, and there is no way to get changes into it. They will have to wait until later) 1) This should be fixed in tomorrow's build. We just hadn't completed the LOD pass on the exterior at the time. 2) We can move…
  • Fixed.
  • The Mail terminal is right outside the Exchange/Bank room, next to the Replimat, across from the Transporter. There are 2 other Mail terminals at about 1/3 increments around the lower promenade.
  • Thanks Vetteguy et al! Glad you like it.
  • They were actually in the exact same spot. Jumja in Season 1 (and a little into S2), then got replaced by the Klingon Deli (or that shop, which actually got used for a number of things). We wanted to include the Jumja stand somewhere, and since we had to fill in the back 2/3 of the Promenade, we put it there. It's not so…
  • What about Wow using Warcraft 3's Engine isn't OK? Without using that engine, we wouldn't have WoW at all. Just as without the engine developed for Marvel, and used in Champions, we wouldn't have STO, or Neverwinter. Yes, there are always issues. Yes, some of them are much, much harder to solve than others. But at the end…
  • The engine was initially built during the development (Yes, during. Admittedly, it wasn't the greatest idea.) on Marvel, in 2006. Some of the concepts of, and some actual code parts of the COX engine were used, but it is not the same as the COX engine. As others have said, it is not at all the same thing we used in 2006.…
  • No plans at the moment.
  • . . . and it would lead to immediate uproar about how those canon interiors are not part of the system. Plus, there would still need to be 3 full interiors with customization. (Don't forget KDF/Roms)
  • I'm not sure what you're referring to? The OP was asking for new interiors, right? The Sovereign, the Refit, etc. Things we don't already have? Can you elaborate on that?
  • My Taco-Sense says that the majority of people saying "Yes, I'd pay for canon interiors" are including fantasies about expanded use, or bigger/more complex interiors. I would amend the OP question with this: If new the bridges/interiors had exactly the same number of rooms, and same functionality as the current interiors,…
  • There shouldn't be a bridge in game, that has a captain's chair (some bridges don't i.e. Tholian), that won't let you sit in it. If you find one that doesn't, let us know and we can take a look.
  • I second the motion. For my part, almost anytime I hop in game on my dev character to chat with folks, I get some people asking for free stuff. However, a couple of times, someone has taken notice that my dev character is only Level 50, and flying my old T2 Nova around, and offered me a ship, or some EC or something. It's…
  • I'm sorry you've lost interest in the game. But I can assure you that "most of the development team" is not dedicated to ships. There are 3 ship artists. We have FX artists, and Systems Designers, who also contribute to ships, but also do many other things. There are 4 Environment Artists and 4 Content Designers doing…
  • This is my interpretation of Canon vs. Soft-Canon as well. If it was seen/heard on screen in any of the official shows/movies (yes, including Enterprise and TAS), it is Canon. If it was seen/heard/read in any of the officially licensed Star Trek products that were NOT the shows/movies, it is Soft-Canon. That includes STO,…
  • CBS has to approve everything we do. They don't generally tell us stories they want to tell, it goes the other way. We come up with what we want to do, tell CBS, and they decide if that's cool or not, or offer some changes that fit more with what they want to see.
  • To the OP: In general, scale in the last few years has been much more in line with real human sizes than it was at the beginning of STO. That said, liberties have to be taken, and even our recent stuff is overscaled slightly, mostly due to the camera. There is a misconception here though. The camera-scale connection is not…
  • That would take some considerable doing. All of our loading screens have to be formatted a certain way. I'm sure programmers could make it work with whatever resolution your shots are at, but it'd take a bunch of work. Also, in all likelyhood you wouldn't want it to actually just pick something at random from your…
  • How is that a texture error? They were on the original, so they were intentionally included in the in-game version.
  • I think the old monthly contest just picked winners and was done. This is a bigger deal because the winners are going into the game as loading screens. I would definitely like to do them more often than every couple of years, but monthly is untenable. Sorting through 2100 screenshots isn't trivial, and even once we have…
  • Congrats to the winners and thanks to everyone for all of the submissions. I'm really glad we were able to revive this little contest. Major props to Ambassador Kael for helping to make that happen. The judging meeting led to some pretty fierce debate, but I think we were all quite pleased with those who won. A reminder…
  • That's actually not possible either. An Instance is exactly that. It is an instance of a given map. We can't change the lighting on one instance and not on another. We could hypothetically have multiple copies of a map with different lighting on each, but that's a bunch of file bloat, and would require you to load between…
  • FYI, this has now been fixed internally. I don't know when it'll make it out to you guys as it's low priority, though.
  • This is known, and I'm looking into it.
  • I have been working here, on one Cryptic Game or another for 12 years, and I STILL have trouble estimating how much time and work a given task will be. I'm not sure how you expect people who do not live in the same (or even a similar) production environment, will be able to do that. Everything else aside, your maths are…
  • I don't think this is a fair assessment. While this thread was started to highlight some of the more commonly encountered Environment bugs, they are the same issues that all game engines deal with. There is no engine that doesn't deal with sorting issues or mip selection or z-fighting. The replies are concentrated here,…
  • No worries at all.
