I think that one of the things that Cryptic GMs need to look at more closely are the way people name their characters and ships. Last night as I was moving through sector space I saw the USS Khoakanbawls or something of the like. I mean really. Why is it that there are always some morons in an MMO who feel the need to name their character something really stupid and offensive? I have seen others as well but luckily I have blocked them out of my mind.
I know Cryptic has their hands full right now. I know they are working on many things and this may seem like small potatoes and in some ways it is. It would just be nice to NOT have to see such stupid offensive names on characters or ships. This is Star Trek not WoW or EQ2. I expect to see things like Whellhung the Elf in those games but not here.
Please ban the gold farmers and those players who use asinine names!
Pretty much this. If you see a bad name, report it through the provided tool to do this. If it's a name that's disguised or harder to make out (khoakanbawls), include a translation. Every little bit helps to clean up Federation space.

This TRIBBLE coming from a dude with a seminaked chick getting her TRIBBLE felt up as an avatar?

I reported kirksucksballs, kissmyassma, dikhed, and four ships whose names are the names of female sex organs in portuguese. It is impossible for the GMs to catch every stupid name. I like the policy: do not name a ship something that will get you reported.
Why? iots not like they ever get resolved. I have tickets on naming violations in from launch day. I didnt even think there WAS a naming policy as far as ship/captain's names considering just about every name I see nowadays would violate it if there was.
Hell, I was planning on naming my next Escort USS Leeroy Jenkins as a witty remark as far as how the whole "grouping" dynamic works in this game (read: doesnt).
I am all behind the movement to kill all these TRIBBLE (Yes I said TRIBBLE) ships and nicks, it tends to ruin my play experience.
I just went through the tutorial and ther e wasnt a single name of a person in it that wasnt reportable. Including mine... Jamie Hyneman - Engineer ... but Cryptic just doesnt seem to care.
From what I hear theres a fleet of Chuck Norris's flying USS Chuck Norris ships already as they can all have the same name and ship name.
I saw a guy flying a USS Fenway Park in the tutorial lol
Yes it would have been great had Cryptic decided to put in a name filter, or a unique name thing or a unique ship name thing, but they didnt.
Where is the naming regs anyways?

Yes its different because if you put a naked chick up on your ship spread eagle the nerd rage boys wont care what your ship is called, but no pic and the nerd rage maxes out.
If someone feels the need to petition a name then please feel free to petition it. I would ask tho that you refrain from posting about it on the forums because these types of threads almost always get ugly when other people start flaming the players that admit to reporting, or support reporting name violations.

Jamie Hyneman isn't against the rules. The rules say that the names can't be offensive or in violation of IP rights, same as the character customization. Since Jamie Hyneman is a real, living breathing person, and the name itself isn't copy protected, you're in the clear.

technically they tend to get editted too... especially when you are calling out people as thieves lol

And be prepared for this thread to be buried under "You can't tell me how to play", "Chill out", and other, exteremely mature suggestions.
Followed by the lock.
But seriously some form of naming policy would be good

The difference? OP's avatar doesn't violate the EULA.
It's kinda hot, too.

It is a picture of the Borg Queen similar to the one on the STO main page under the "What's next for STO' topic. She is mostly naked as well.
Never know quite what youre getting when dealing with Tzimisce (as a whole - well you have a general idea lol)
spelling wrong.
ROFLMAO!
