Command the Elachi Qulash Frigate!

miirikmiirik Member Posts: 483 Arc User
Because I been getting a bit tired of them not putting in a simple forum thread when I click "discuss on the forums".

https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11245823-command-the-elachi-qulash-frigate!

My thoughts: I'm excited, Elachi is one of my favorite aliens and probably top 5 alien ship designs. I'm grinding this for sure.
Also, I like they made a new ship type, last we had was scout ship, which was a science vessel and raider hybrid. Now we got frigates being a cruiser and raider hybrid. Makes me wonder if they should do something with heavy raiders.

It's nice that we're getting a beam set and upgrade tokens too. (Note: single character but account bound not character bound.)

The only thing I wish was different was that I could get the beams as Mark II instead of Mark XII without needing to create a new junk character to claim them.

It actually introduces a new ship mastery trait pack too - the frigate pack

they dont introduce fully new mastery trait packs often - I think last was juggernaut one

Also its an Eng ship with 15 base turn rate and Raider Flanking while having 5 frontal weapons and some basic eng commands

on paper it seems very interesting

My gut tells me this is a preview of the Franklin, which I'd imagine should be a full-spec pilot ship.

The admiralty card would be so much more useful if it was "+20 Tac and Sci". With only 21 Sci, it will see much less use. Still, not complaining. I'll still try to get it. I might actually fly it, if it's at least as durable as the Husnock.

The ship is a very strange Raider / Cruiser hybrid. Looks pretty good though and very flexible.

very neat ship, though if they are going to be giving more ship raider flanking the should look into bit normal raiders a bit of a buff, more so for birds of prey, at least giving all normal raider and bird of preys improved raider flanking.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

That's a very interesting new ship. Despite the all the universal seats it will probably function best as some tac heavy battlecruiser-esque type, can't see much sci happening with only those 2 console slots. Still, a BC with raider flanking is something to behold.

Why commander Engineering on a frigate? Is this hopefully a typo?

because it's Cruiser/raider, same reason scout ships has science commander.

Probably not interesting enough to put on my main but I guess some of my alts would like it. I probably wont be using the console though.

I get the impression it is a massive refinement of the "patrol escort" concept (which was a fun ship when plain T5s were practical). There are some nasty offensive powers for engineering boffs, frigates do necessarily have to be all tactical to be effective.

I already have a character idea that I wanted to try for a long time that this ship is perfect for :)

I was never really a fan of elachi ships but this one actually looking forward to or excited to try out. Also maybe a sign at Cryptic testing out how well this kind of hybrid raider/cruiser might do as a T6 K'vort to replace the Hegh'ta which never had a T5 or T6 heavy bird of prey edition. At first with DR on the buying the same ship issue this kind of ship smooths that over pretty much something that is genuinely different and possibly better variant makes me wonder if we will get to see an alliance pack with something like a galaxy or sovy, negh'var, d'deridex where they could focus on not making a 9 ship pack but since we can use romulan ships now too that owning fed and rom or kdf and rom versions of these make a console set and have the option of the three class types of a ship model without having to put so much into getting these ships where the 12k zen ships work especially with a high conversion rate of dilithium making them super expensive putting ease on the prices would probably stabilize the games economy a bit when players are not so focused on their dilithium saving it for ships that fleet projects hardly get any spent anyways a thought on how this can be made better or possibly that Cryptic may have already have had this planned. As well though I'm still betting my horses on Star Trek:Picard having a lot of romulan ships that will be up for sale once that series comes out is my prediction on the latest of changes.

    It looks awesome.

This one will likely be more then an admiralty ship for me. I like the stats and the looks.. I have a character that's going to enjoy this ship.

    Well done Cryptic!

Is it just me, or is that news post missing a line for hull points?

That stats look interesting, but I don't really like the looks. Might be better with a different hull material, but these event ships are always a bit light on customization options.

I would like to assume so, I only have the command Sheshar myself so I would want to be able to use its console on it.

Yes, Jette/CrypticSpartan confirmed this on Reddit: If you own other Elachi ships, whatever consoles you have can be used on the frigate.

These are really cool stats, I'm not hot on its looks however. I very much look forward to seeing ships like this for Romulans and Feds.

I like the interesting stats/layout of the ship, but the fact that its Elachi and the trait is uninteresting means I am very unlikely to ever actually use it. I really don't like those freaky things, nor their ship designs, after playing through the Romulan story a few times.

The garbage trait honestly doesn't bother me.

I already have more good traits then I can slot at any one given time.. I just go by rather I like the layout and look of the ship. Frankly, I couldn't care less if they ever make another top tier starship trait. I have more then enough already.

Actually this Command the Elachi Qulash Frigate look like a re-skin job of the Breen Chel Grett Warship.
Same basic ship shaped hull, but with a different skin/texture.

    I like it though ;)

There's no set bonus to existing Elachi consoles, at least according to the news page yesterday.

This console isn't in a set with the consoles from the existing Elachi ships (or any other consoles). However, as those consoles can only be equipped on "any Elachi starship", I made sure that those consoles could be equipped on the Qulash. Additionally, as I mentioned over there, the Silent Enemy Set also counts this as an "Elachi starship" for the purposes of its bonuses.

now if only the silent enemy set was actually worth using...

Looks like a good ship. Raider flanking, cruiser commands, five forward weapon slots and four tac console slots.

This should be an useful ship for many players. And the free weapons that will be part of the reward will make it even better.
