Unable to slot Tellarite pets?!

in PC Gameplay Bug Reports
Yesterday I bought a pair of Elite Tellarite Adamant Fighters, at the Fleet store, on my Fed-aligned Romulan toon (after having bought and unpacked the Fleet Tellarite Pralim ship). I keep getting a message, though, that I don't meet the requiments to slot these pets. Say wut?! And no, I don't have the C-store version, but that shouldn't matter: I was able to buy them, and they come with no restrictions listed on them.

If it were truly the case of me not meeting the requiments to use these pets (which is stupid to begin with, as I own the Tellarite ship), then the Fleet store should NOT have allowed me to buy them (aka, they should have stayed greyed out). So, obviously a bug of some sort?!

    You didn't mention what ship that you're trying to use them with.

    I believe you do indeed need to own the C-Store ship to use those.

    I tried them on the Fleet Tellarite Pralim ship, clearly. :) But they won't fit on anything else, either. Like I said, there's no restrictions on them (in the usual red). Even bought the blue ones; can't slot those either.

    Why?! That's never been a requirement. Besides, the way it usually works, is that the Fleet store will keep the pets greyed out that you don't qualify for.

    The wiki states they can be used on Carriers and Escort Carriers. It's possible that something was left out of the coding on those Advanced/Elite pets that's preventing them from being used on the Flight-Deck Cruiser type. I'll move this to the bug section just in case, so someone can look at them. /Moved

    Edit: It's also possible that being Romulan may be preventing it as well, since Romulans were more recently given access to FED ships, again something in coding may be preventing your Romulan from using them.

    According to the STO wiki:
    The Tellarite Pralim Flight-Deck Assault Cruiser is required for purchase.

    Looks like you need the C-store version.
    Now a LTS and loving it.
    Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
    I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

    But I did buy the Tellarite Pralim Flight-Deck Assault Cruiser, only the Fleet version.

    According to the wiki, the link they give is to the c-store version, not the fleet store version. Looks like you need the c-store version to use the hangars. After that, you can use them on other carriers/flight deck carriers.

    Thanks for the feedback. But a wiki is not an official STO document, of course. If it's really true, then the Fleet store shouldn't have sold them to me (clearly a bug then).** When the Fleet store lets you buy pets, that's the green light for you, signifying there are no restrictions on you to use them.

    **In fact, they shouldn't have sold me the Fleet Tellarite Pralim Flight-Deck Assault Cruiser itself then, even, knowing I could never fit its pets.

    Unless i am mistaken, aren't those Elite Tellerite pets locked out in the SB if you do not have the C-store version.
    So if @meimeitoo purchased the elite pets, does that not mean he also has the c-store ship?
    This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    Then it is possible BMR is right and it's something with the coding for your Romulan. I hope it gets cleared up for you.

    Not truly a he, LOL, but essentially so, yes: normally, if the Fleet Store decides there's a reason you can't use the pets, you can't buy them. So, now they let me spend 38K Dilithium + 100K Fleet Credits, and then effectively tell me "Haha, you can't use em, after all!"

    And the C-store thing is silly. It's not like I'm cheating with the Fleet ship: 5x Fleet Ship Modules = 2,500 Zen (yes, that's 500 less than the C-Store ship, but you don't get a console and Trait).

    I recall that this has been an issue in the past. Appearantly you can't use the pets on 'not really fed'-fed chars like Rom and Jem. I don't think this is WAI, but I also don't think it's of any priority. The bug isn't new and was reported sone time ago, but maybe it helps to do this again 😀

    I can see how a not-truly-Fed character might be an issue. The thing just is, those pets don't come with any restrictions at all.

    Yes, I'm sure it's not intentional and a bug. But the people describing not being able to use the shuttles always do so on Roms and Jems, thus mybsuspicion that is the issue. Have you tried on a vanilla fed?

    Edit: I just remembered you don't have the account unlock. It'd be difficult to test on another char then 😜

    Also, just heard back from the ticket I filed. The answer was basically, "Looks like a bug to us, but we don't handle bugs; best go to the forums. In fact, someone just posted a topic there about the same issue." LOL.

    They don't come with a restriction because at the time they were put into the game, that wasn't needed.

    At the time the pets were put in, they were usable on a ship that can only be purchased and used by a Federation Character. At the time, there was no way a Romulan could purchase those pets so there was no need to state that they were restricted, obtaining them was not possible. But then, Romulans were given access to allied ships and now all the sudden a scenario like the one you find yourself in was now possible.

The fact that you have the ship unlocked the pets for purchase, but they aren't expressly coded to work for Romulans so they can't actually be equipped.

    While the Wiki points to the C-Store version, if you look at it.. it tells you that the C-Store version is required to purchase them. The Fleet Version also fulfills this requirement, that's apparent from the fact that you have indeed purchased them. You have met the purchasing requirement, but because of the fact that you're Romulan, I am sure that's where the problem is.

    Hopefully, someone from the development team sees fit to look into this and confirm for sure.

    I hope it gets fixed for you.

    The c-store version. You could use that on another character, but the fleet version is character bound.

    @seaofsorrows summarized what I also suspect. Let's hope your report gets recognized by the bug hunter or dev team.

    ^^ That was a very lucid analysis. :) Thank you! I think it's clear now that it is, in fact, a Romulan issue, and not a C-store matter.

    Yeah. If this bug is indeed an old one, I say it's about time they fixed it. It's annoying not being able to buy pets that you think you quality for, but worse when they actually let you buy them, only to find out you apparently don't qualify, after all.

    Hello everyone, after investigating and confirming this bug. I notified a systems designer and showed them the bug as well. While I do not have a timetable when this will be addressed it is now currently known. Thank you for the report! It was very much an oversight from days when things were restricted.
