Question from a newb about the game on PC

rightxrightx Member Posts: 1 Arc User
Hello,
I just started playing the game recently or rather came back to it and I am really enjoying it but I do have a few quick questions that i was wondering if I could receive some help on, I play on PC.
The first question is that I am playing a romulan and it is asking me to ally myself with either federation or klingon. What difference does it make between the two and does it really have any major impact on how the future of the game goes for me.
The second question is a more general is, for a beginner which race would be good to play with or it doesnt really matter? End game wise, how do the different ships compare to each other or are they all pretty close to each other?
The third question would be what guides do you guys recommend I can read up at this point to help me understand the game better and help me progress?
The fourth question is what is the best way to getting into a fleet (guild) i guess at this time, or i am too low level to get into one and should wait until i progress more in the game? Would searching in game or on the forums be the best way to find a fleet?
thank you so much for your time and I appreciate any help

feds have more ships and less headdesk causing story moments, kdf get slightly easier dil grind. but storywise by the time you hit delta it's the same no matter what you play.

race: romulans are best race, but thats godly minmax worry. for most people it all basically the same in the end.
ship: very complex question short version for most people most ships in the same class are pretty close. but some ships are better than others.

fleet: I just wait for random invite, but you could make a thread in the fleet section, or want for someone to offer in this one.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Ships - you can fly allied faction ships along with Romulan ships (so KDF ships if you ally with KDF, Fed if Fed). My Romulan characters only fly Romulan ships so this doesn't matter much to me.

Duty officer missions - KDF has marauding missions useful for grinding contraband, which can be sold for EC or exchanged for unrefined dil (a minor benefit compared to the income from Admiralty and Endeavors).

Social zones - you can visit the homeworld of your allied faction

The main reason to pick one faction over the other is role-playing. Does your Romulan feel more like a Klingon warrior or a "we come in peace" Feddie?

    > The second question is a more general is, for a beginner which race would be good to play with or it doesnt really matter?

It doesn't matter much. Romulan faction characters (regardless of your own race) do have access to "Romulan Superior Operative" bridge officers which improve your critical hit chance a bit in space combat.

Some people pick Alien for cosmetic reasons so they can have character looks that the tailor doesn't allow for the standard races. "Space Barbie is the true endgame."

Cruisers are the easiest to fly, when using beam arrays and broadsiding (circle strafing)

Escorts / raiders / tactical ships can do more damage using cannons or dual beam banks but are harder to fly like that (narrow firing arcs) and are weaker so blow up more easily

Science ships and carriers are fun to fly but more difficult to set up and do well with compared to just adding 8 beam arrays (or 7 + a torpedo) to a cruiser.

You have several character slots, and there are some unique stories for each faction. You don't have to try to experience everything with just one character. You can plan to create a KDF and Federation character later.

Almost all of your questions are subjective. It all depends on what you find that you like.

Me? I'm mostly Fed, so all my toons are Fed or Fed-aligned Roms, then three KDF toons (male, female Klings and a Ferasan).

Ships? I've flown all types and find myself liking the sci, cruiser or destroyer-types most.

Endgame? Agree with Dave-space barbie, though I don't indulge that much.

I play for fun, but my fun can differ from one day to the next.

As I said, it's all subjective. Whatever YOU think you like, as what I posted is what I like.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D
