Again....why are people using Steam?? It doesn't actually do anything with STO bar registering you've played STO using Steam as a launcher. It doesn't host any of the servers, be it the account, game or patch server.

I used Steam originally, but jumped over to Arc quite a while ago. Arc may have its issues, but it's easy to do everything STO-related in one spot.

Consider jumping to Arc for those who haven’t. You get the Kahn outfit free.

Because some of us have friends who play games on steam and we like to know when they are online. No one thinks you NEED Steam to run STO, we use it for it's extra features.

Also, it's still the only way you can buy Zen in the 500 Quantity.. if that matters.

I use Steam and have no issues, nor have I had any issues with using Steam to download and start Star Trek Online. Been using it since beta-release.

Same here, never had an issue at all.

    Steam user reporting. No issues.
Only reason I keep Arc around is Promo Codes.

You might have set XP Compatibility Mode at some point, for example by running "Troubleshoot Compatibility."

    W10 here. No problems.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

You don't even need ARC to redeem promo codes.

Use this instead for any promo codes, after logging in to the website:

Windows 7 support has been discontinued by Microsoft. It is now a defunct operating system, and either has been or will soon be discontinued from operating systems that STO supports.

For Microsoft, not until January 2020 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsforbusiness/end-of-windows-7-support

I'm not getting it, but I use Windows 10.
