Again....why are people using Steam?? It doesn't actually do anything with STO bar registering you've played STO using Steam as a launcher. It doesn't host any of the servers, be it the account, game or patch server.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Because some of us have friends who play games on steam and we like to know when they are online. No one thinks you NEED Steam to run STO, we use it for it's extra features.
Also, it's still the only way you can buy Zen in the 500 Quantity.. if that matters.

Windows 7 support has been discontinued by Microsoft. It is now a defunct operating system, and either has been or will soon be discontinued from operating systems that STO supports.

Same here, never had an issue at all.
Only reason I keep Arc around is Promo Codes.
You might have set XP Compatibility Mode at some point, for example by running "Troubleshoot Compatibility."
Use this instead for any promo codes, after logging in to the website:

For Microsoft, not until January 2020 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsforbusiness/end-of-windows-7-support
