Transferring dilithium between characters

jarenkincaidjarenkincaid Member Posts: 117 Arc User
It used to be you could use the exchange in a 2-step process to transfer dilithium between process (no matter how stupid that was). But now it's become impossible because the moment I place dilithium on the exchange with the intention of transferring it between characters on my account, it get snatched up instantly no matter what the price. I suspect that some outfit is hoovering it all up for resale like has happened on SWTOR. Anyway, the point is that we should be able to transfer dilithium credits, and everything else between characters with a single click. Otherwise, the gold diggers win.

    if they do buy it at 25 - profit!

    Sell it at 100 or 25, whichever you find easiest to convert. If folk are buying it at that price, you make the profit, not them......and considering Dil can only be bought and sold on the Dil-Exchange, I highly doubt anyone is trying to hoover it up for re-sale for $$$'s, as you can't sell it directly to a targetted individual.

    If you're doing 8K dil per toon for transfer. as 25 dil per, you post for 320.

    To adjust this for what dil you have, set to 25 dil per, then in the dil amount at the bottom of the scree, type in the amount of dil. The thing to keep in mind here is that you can only post enough for 5K zen at a time.

    Frankly anyone buying dilithium at 25/1 is either really desperate or really stupid. Only time we EVER had the exchange rate down in the double digits is when Starbases were still new. And even then I think the lowest it ever got was about 75/1.

    Its pretty safe to post Dilithium for 25/1 because no one is willing to take a net loss of 320 Zen for only 8000 Dilithium that can easily be earned just by playing and converting marks into zen. I regularly transfer Dilithium around so I can see the total amount I've made before buying Zen at market price.

    But if someone makes the mistake of selling Zen for 25/1... I ain't gonna complain.

    This seems like a problem you would want to have.

    Lowest I see it was around that time, and it was for 44:1. Right now the same thing persists in the Dilex that happens on the Exchange. People buying low and selling high to keep the price jacked up. So both are overly inflated by peoples greed.

    This is a PEBKAC error that you've experienced. The best way to avoid PEBKAC errors is to use logic and math. For example, say the dil/zen exchange is currently at 320. PEBKAC tells you to set your dil price at 320 dil per zen. But logic tells you to use a much lower number. One way below 320. Use a number that's easy to multiply with. Say 100 dil per zen. Offer to buy 80 zen at 100 dil per zen. Conveniently, this multiplies out to 8,000 dilithium. Do this and you won't suffer this PEBKAC error ever again.
    When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

    As I stated above. Set your Dil to Zen amount to 25 dil per zen. With this, you can post 8K dil by saying you want to buy 320 zen. Which comes out like...

    25 Dil ~> 1 Zen

    8k = 320
    16k= 640
    24k = 960

    Or for the easiest way to do it. For the Dilex setup..

    Zen to Buy
    Amount of Dil Per = 25
    Total Dil = Type in the amount of dil you wish to use.

    Which to top it out if you have enough dil on one toon.

    Zen = 5000(max)
    Dil per zen = 25
    Total Dil = 125,000

    All you have to do here, is watch the middle number on each toom. Sometimes the dilex remembers you've set it to X amount, sometimes it sets it to the average current price. Which is where the problem of it getting snatched up comes in. Had that happen a couple times to me, when I wasn't paying attention and ended up buying zen, as I was just going for the transfer from character to character.

    It is also influenced by things in game as well, such as the recently released Discovery Ops Pack and the current Phoenix Box event.

    The desirability of Zen vs Dilithium influences the market. Put something in that people want that requires Dilithium... people will sell Zen for cheeper to get more Dilithium. New thing comes out in the C-Store, Zen becomes more desirable and drives the prices up.

    Used to go up when we had Dilithium flooding events too. Market Saturation also drives Zen prices up. However since Cryptic changed it so we only really have to run events on a single character for an account unlock vs character unlocks like years ago... Market Saturation hasn't been as much of an issue. But dang did we start getting some spikes when people could spam events like Crystalline for maximum DL income. I admit I was one of those people, but that was also because I was working on some big project in the C-Store and needed the Dilithium.

    My Grinding has been streamlined now so I don't burn out as easily as I used to years ago. But being the lunatic that I am, most of my C-Store purchases have been via Dilithium Exchange. I've learned the patterns. The Phoenix Box is a good equalizer, but we really do need another DL sink to help balance the economy so that F2P players have relatively equal access to the C-Store as anyone else. Even as a lifer, my habits haven't changed. Its honestly just an extra 500 Zen a month on top of what I grind out. But... it wasn't always thus. I was F2P for quite a while. Hell... I was F2P shortly after F2P. I was subbed for maybe 2 months or so because I picked up the game before F2P.

    Recognize patterns based on variables like sales and events, streamline your operation... profit.
    Even a F2P can achieve anything in the C-Store with some dedication, planning, and time. And boy does it feel good when you achieve your goal.

    I left the sales and such out of it, cause that's a natural part of how things go. I was just pointing out the main root of the problem. The fluctuation for sales and events I don't mind at all.

    As an F2P from 2012, I know the feeling of achieving said goal. The ships have never been at the top of my list though. I've been looking more toward what I need for my charactes, i.e. bank, invent, drydock, boff, doff, etc expansions are my highest priority. I'll buy the ships when I have nothing else left to get. Which could be never, as I still have like 41-ish character slots I can get, before I max out at 55 characters.

    Add to this, I haven't been as worried about the dil farming as I use to be. Which, I'm at a prime spot for right now. Other than building up some unrefined on my main, I'm at 200K+ on the two alts I've been toying around with. I could spare some time there and start working on building upa back stock on all the other as well. Plus, maybe even get around to finishing up the story line stuff for my Rom Delta Recruit. to finish unlocking all the rewards.
