Returning, Very limited play time experience. How well does this game cater to Completionist's

Hey all

I have played this game for very limited amount of time. i do occasionally log in to spend a few Zen from my lifetime account, however currently as far as MMO's go i have always wanted to sink my teeth deep in this game. I plan to start with a fresh Discovery Character. My overall goal would be hitting all story arcs and All exploration possible and I am curious if there is some type of completion achievement for Exploring and Questing. I have a 12+ hour play time schedule a day to play every day. so to sum it up i want to roll all types of characters finishing all content at least once before i decide overall What i truly want to Build. I am a long time Star Trek Fan i grew up watching Generations and most if not all its spin off's... i Seen Wrath of Khan when it was in theaters but when i seen it it was at a "Drive in" i also seen Search for Spock and every movie till Star Trek 5 in Theaters. In high school i learned some Klingon to baffle friends at lunch breaks... Yup i am a true enthusiast.

Anyhow. i plan to play solo. Any thoughts in the games Progressive arc would help a lot, Thanks!

    Jolan'tru!

If you're sticking to normal mission reward gear is adequate for story missions.

I think if you're a a Star Trek fan and a completionist you'll really like this game as there is so much to do. Just doing the story arc's themselves will get you all the gear you need... quite a large and varied collection actually. Other aspects such as doffing, admiralty, accolade hunting, trying different builds or whatever you like just add more layers to the game.

The related 'completion achievement' reward for the story line is really the gear and whatever you learn along the way, although formally the reward is experience to level up and even specialization points later in the game.

Since you mentioned doing a variety of different types of characters there's even more to add for your completionism (and variety) as each faction has it own unique story line at the earlier levels as well as each discipline (tac, sci, eng) is a different experience in itself.

You'll probably have to engage in some team content at end-game but for the time being enjoy the journey.

    I did have one question...

What is a 'drive in'? How did you fit your vehicle in the theatre amongst all those seats? Was anybody injured or the police called? Or did you use something like a motorcyle and just park in one of the isles?

That's not a problem. All of the story episodes are single-player.

There are Task Force Operations that are 5-person groups but they are short (5-15 minutes) and many of them are just blowing up ships. They are very easy compared to raids or trials in other online games, especially if you just do the space ones.

The main factions (Federation, Klingon, Romulan) all have a good number of unique missions before they start doing the same missions. The TOS (original series), Jem'Hadar, and Discovery captains have fewer unique missions but the quality is high.

You don't need to buy anything until you reach level 65. You will get free ships and gear as you level up.

If you're not fussed about what ships you fly, there are free Event ships three times a year. We just had the Anniversary and next will be the Summer Event, starting around June/July. All it takes is the daily Flying High mission to get your tokens for it and that only takes less than five minutes.

Otherwise, if you only want 'canon' ships, most of those are in the C-Store.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

I've been playing daily on console since this game dropped and it is one of my go to games for certain. I also got the lifetime membership and as everyone else said, if you like Star Trek then you will have a plethora of options to create pretty much whatever you want within the era of the show that you favor. Cryptic NEVER stops dropping new ships to entice you, but the game gives you what you need without having to sink money into it, other than for your own desires. I would suggest that you think long and hard about your purchases, as even the most coveted ship or item will soon lose its luster.

Now that being said, whenever I've fixated on a certain ship that would cost me real money, I've not regretted getting it. I have a character who has stuck with his Tier 6 NX-class Escort Refit for quite a while now. Same for another toon flying the Tier 6 Miranda.

if you want to chase them, it's fun to get the accolades, but be aware a lot fo them are no longer achievable

compared to other gaming community's this by far has been the most positive. i have been wrapping things up in other games i play where most if not all the community's are quite toxic. its refreshing to see that isn't the case here. i was thinking about rolling with my new age of discovery character. but the more i think about it, the more i want to roll a KDF to start. then perhaps a Romulan and lastly the Federation. i mostly gravitate to Fed's because of the ships. however my mindset today and with trying to break habitual patterns i am going to roll a Klingon. Lastly i am playing on Linux, and this game is pretty much the only MMO to run flawlessly on a Linux Box! :)
