Sorry if this question has been asked before I've had a look around for it, but might have missed it.
question is how do you activate the carrier fighters on my top left i have what can only be described as 2 panels, each with 6 spaces in them, above each panel is 4 icons, now question is do i have activate each fighter one by one, or does clicking on one of the 4 icons above do that.
Also do the 4 icons on the bottom middle display do the same thing.
Thanks for any help guys.

Independent of that there are 4 carrier commands where you can influence the pets behavior a bit.
Looking for a fun PvE fleet? Join us at Omega Combat Division today.
Button 1 - Launches a wing of fighters. If you have six spaces then you are using fighters, hitting the button will launch 3 fighters and then will go on cooldown for a short period of time. Once the cooldown is expired, you can launch another 3 giving you six active. As fighters get destroyed in combat, you will need to launch more to take their place.
Should you not wish to click on the Carrier Windows, then I would do as Peterconnor said and map the 'Launch Fighters' to your hot bar.
The other 4 buttons in order are
Attack - Clicking this will set the hangar to attack mode. Fighters will engage and attack whoever you have targeted.
Escort - Your fighters will stay around the Carrier and defend it.
Intercept - Similar to Escort mode, but the fighters will focus on incoming missiles/Torps and try and destroy them before they hit the carrier.
Dock - This recalls all fighters to return to the ship.
They are supposed to dock (and get repaired once docked), but the Recall command doesn't always work very well. If I sit still they seem to dock more consistently, but still not 100%.
They used to.
Now, for me anyway, they seem to just return to the ship and sit stationary rather than moving about.
Ultimately it doesn't matter.
You do not run out of fighters/shuttles/frigates. Launch them and leave them if you want. There will always be more to launch the next time you want them.
Still, I wish that function worked more reliably.
It's bad enough that I, as a Captain, send pilot after pilot out to die (and shuttles die. A lot), but now even the ones that survive I leave stranded all over space, only occasionally in a place where they can find sanctuary.
