This is the nature of RTFO's. You have the potential to get payed more for queuing random. There are certain (space) queues that I'm not particularly fond of, but that others may really enjoy, so I don't think voting on what's included in the list is the way to go as everybody is different. I mean no disrespect to you in voicing your opinion though.

Funny thing... not too long ago I queued up for what I consider to be an often overlooked older queue as a non-random and it seems the system back filled the queue in short order. It was lot's of fun. There are options.

With today's announcement of Personal Endeavors, I'm glad the dev team is proactively working on providing even more options to keep those queues popping and provide challenges and things to do that provide a reward while I have fun.

This mission is fine its just annoying no boby knows or plays the trigger lines for the rescue optional and costs you reward. Even more frustrating is when you enter the last room and Mr. Dipstick can't figure out its 3 consoles requiring 3 players to active at the same time and runs from one to the other activating them prolonging the mission

Lately there's been a lot of spoiled brats queuing up for randoms. You don't queue random for you. You queue random to help the people who are trying to run difficult queues to get the queue rewards they need but no one else wants to queue for. That's what random is for. The TFO crate is an incentive to help people.

When you queue random and start bitching about the map the OP needs to complete that's 100% spoiled brat sense of entitlement. Check your entitlement, shut up, and help the person complete the queue. That's what you're there for.

If you can't do all the maps, you shouldn't be queuing random.

IMO if you queue random and drop out because it's :gasp: a ground queue! You should get a 1 hour account-wide queue ban. No hopping on alts this time!

Trigger lines? People still do that? This isn't 2012. GO! GO! GO! That's how you do the mission. Honestly, that was never how you did this mission, if you stood around sniping from behind a line in 2012, you lost the optional on time. In 2012, the way it was done was MASSED CHARGE WITH SWORDS.

Swords ! I remember you always brought a spoon :)

We also didn't have all the damage buffing abilities and Spec Trees back in 2012. Today with a well coordinated and geared fireteam and a full set of TR-116 rifles... you can EASILY get the time optional without breaking the trigger lines. Clear out as much as you can, then rush in and save the officers with shotguns without worrying about the guys you just sniped.

Umm....you've not played Cure: Applied Ground have you? That is currently the longest running due to distance between points of combat, saving Klingons, scanning bodies, and the transformer node activations...

Honestly Idk which was longer, Cure Ground, or Terradome ground because it's been so long since we got to play that...

I agree with @kamiyama317. If you are not going to do the rtfo given, then don't queue for rtfo. There have been alot of people just leaving ground tfo because it is a ground tfo.

Not to mention that Cure ground still has the bug that won't complete the STF if you finish it too quickly. I don't mind ground queues, but that one is an automatic pass, penalty be damned.

When you queue for a random TFO you're essentially doing 2 things. First is that you're essentially queuing up for all available TFOs at once and whatever pops first out of that entire list is what you get. Next, you're telling the system and the others in queue that you don't care what queue you end up in, just let you play, each time you push that random button. You don't need much for a basic starter build for ground to complete the queues. Grab the Kentari Armor and Shield from the Mirrors and Smoke mission, or your choice of ground armor, grab a tr-116b from the exchange, and a cheap rifle like a split beam, and you're good to go.

If you're not willing to take the chance at getting a mission you don't like then I strongly advise folks not to hit that random button because you will at some point get a mission you don't like. Furthermore by leaving those missions then that means you lied to the system and lied to everyone else in queue when you drop out because you don't want to play it. Thus you make it harder for others to get marks and enjoy the game all because you can't be bothered to play the queue even though by hitting that button you indicated you would. It's the epitome of arrogance and selfishness when someone does that.

As for infected manus goes, arguments can be made that it needs to be slightly adjusted to meet with today's standards, which is a fair debate to have. I personally believe they need to add about an extra minute or so to the timer for the optional but that's really more of an annoyance than anything. The queue is fine where it's at.

These days you generally only see pugs seriously go for optionals in waiting missions, where there are no primary objective to do at all and the only choice is to sit and wait. In missions like the STFs where you actually have to do something, people focus on advancing the mission instead of wasting time on earning a few extra peanuts.

So like on ISA you get the optional on the side of efficiently finishing the mission, but on KSA everyone just ignores the probes and goes straight for the generators.

Not everyone. Give me a cruiser with Warp Plasma or a high DPS escort, I can hold one side on defense just fine. Megawell builds can also do a decent job holding off the probes by locking them up against the gate or even a generator.

Oh. And you DO NOT want to have them turn into Borg or you can not complete the optional, extra credit assignment. But they are setting the game up to reward the boring thing, in my mind.

Doesn't sound fair...because, frankly, I'd rather shoot Borg, than save NPCs. See, this is why I don't like team sports in this game. When I sign on to do the video game thing...I just want to sign on and shoot, test some new piece of gear, or practice control/flying my ship.

Do they use these "trigger lines" in TFOs only to mess up the team in some way?

    How many TFOs do that?

Of course you can. It's not even that hard to defend both sides at once. But since they removed the fail condition there's no real consequence to letting probes through, so very few people care to even try.

Its not to "mess up the team". Its an added layer of difficulty. Do you have what it takes to save these officers while fighting the Borg?

If all you're interested in is shooting things and ONLY shooting things... then don't chance running Randoms and queue up for the specific ones you want that are nothing but pew pew.

I just don't queue at all, rattler2. That part of the game is not my thing...I found what I like doing already. And it is Solo, and the clicky things...like DOFFing.

So, how many TFOs use this type of "trigger line" thing???? Where it could mess up the team extra rewards?

    @ichaerus1 ha, ha, ha.

Anyhoo....the thing everyone is happy to tell everyone is: "You are doing it wrong."

And happy telling people: Don't sign up for Random TFOs because YOU can't do it, you are so bad at it you are not deserving of helping anyone.

When you should PASS YOUR WISDOM ALONG, like all those Veteran players before you, did for you. Teach the tactics for these TFOs.

You should be talking about: HOW and WHAT are other players missing??? What are those extra credit assignments? What are the tricks to get around to the end and get the best rewards.

Why is Infected Manus Ground difficult for players to complete? It is difficult to "chat" while concentrating on playing....so talk tactics HERE. You know them, right????

OK...so YEAH, I DO NOT DO TFOs, I don't like team sports in this game.

But this is chance to get the word out to someone ELSE who is reading and actually wants to do them, or needs a refresher because they are coming back. Don't waste it on criticizing Cryptic Devs decisions and ask for removals or tell people don't.

Quit leaving other players behind. It does not make the game any better, it doesn't make you look good. Bring them up to your level.

If someone is not willing to ASK for help... then are they going to listen to any offered advice?
So far the whole tone of this thread is a rant against doing the mentioned content. No request of advice on how to do it. Someone provided some advice of their own volition... and got torn into over "Who does that" and "its only there to mess people up".

So... how does criticizing the responses over lack of advice factor in when the reception to said advice has been somewhat dismissive to hostile?

If people want threads for various STFs... then they can ask and we veterans can probably take over a corner of The Academy section of the forums and dedicate it to the various tactics for overcoming said STFs.
The main issue seems too be communication. Either people don't know that they can actually ask and get viable responses rather than just "L2P N00b Get Gud", or they're afraid to ask.
We have a lot of differing opinions on how to approach sharing wisdom. Some Troll, others actually TRY to help. Some try and provide cookie cutter builds, others try to make a build based on playstyle of the person asking.

Its a bit complex honestly. But if people are willing... the resources are available.

Only nitpickers care about the optionals. The real problem with IGA is people not paying enough attention to notice the 3 consoles must be operated simultaneously. If you have at least 3 people in the team who can click a button at roughly the same time, you can do the mission. If you don't, you will be stuck forever and might as well leave.

And you can't give advice to someone who isn't paying attention.

Might be a really good idea. especially in academy. Us Veterans can impart our knowledge and tactics. When someone asks about a queue, we can link the area. Plus, it allows the community to work together, win-win.
