    This.

Why would anyone have a preference as to what side?

I have recently started an true beam build and have experienced that only showing 1 side the whole time will bite back at you, it works just better to turn and pitch all over the place, it allows for better shield management and in turn keeping it up and running trough out the battle

I'll take option 5: Whichever is the closest.

The side closest to the enemy.

    My thoughts exactly.

However if the enemy is in front of me, I turn in a way that keeps the most enemies on one side, because I am usually running BFAW. If they are on more then 1 side, it will keep TT from better protecting my ship, because it is spreading shield facings thin. But if all are on 1 side, it will TT will just redistribute all other shields to that 1 side, giving better protection.

What are the conditions of my shields? I'm going to want to present my strongest side to the enemy, because if I'm broadsiding I'm probably in a cruiser and can't turn very fast.

Obviously I adjust according to the situation, but I DO tend to always go left and fire from the right...

Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Varies, but generally I open up with my torps, then turn to port. After that I turn to get strongest shields facing.

This right here. Tends to be my standard attack sequence though I break to starboard, but it all depends on where I'm at in relation to my target.

If the enemies are to the left then thats where the broadside comes from. And vice versa.

Direction of turning depends on where the closest one happens to be in relation to the rest of the cluster, so if they're lined up going left then I'll adjust to the right and arc around to the left.

Create a slight difference along the Z axis by moving either up or down. Pick a target. Cross the "T" from the target's rear somewhere between 6-8km out. Exit the engagement envelope to set up another pass if required. Maintain situational awareness At All Times.

My method isn't listed, I fly right into the middle of the mass of enemies so my weapons are all hitting something. If I get in trouble, I pop Reverse Shield Polarity and get clear with Evasive Maneuvers or using the boost from the competitive engines.

I treat the enemies like a mosh pit and just dive right in!

Both. When one side shield goes down, you rotate.

Maybe it's because I drive in the US, but usually I stay right and shoot from my left.

I just redistribute shields to bolster one side so it doesn't go down. It wouldn't even occur to me to turn away a weak facing because that has no upside to healing/redistributing it.

I just fly in circles, sometimes going clockwise, sometimes counter-clockwise.

With my new Eclipse I also use an aft torpedo launcher (to make someone above proud: it's a quantum torpedo ;) ) which means that I sometimes steer back a little after completing a circle.

Usually I've found that broadsiding becomes a bit boring after a while - dual heavy cannons or exotic abilities + torpedoes are still my preferred way of flying. But with front (Antiproton, sorry :p ) and aft (quantum) torpedo spreads it can be funnier.

None of the above. That last time I did a broadside boat it was a broadside torpedo boat so which direction I turned did not matter. 5 broadside torps and 2 mines while not optimal works surprising well. Then add in a few of the wide angle or 360 torpedo consoles.

Circle one way until shields get depleted then go the other way until those shields go down, rinse and repeat.

I really don't understand this tactic. Don't you heal/redistribute your shields?

Chicken and the egg. Do players get trained to go to port and fire from starboard when doing ISA or is it because players normally turn left of why it's common for ISA to start left?
