I must admit, for some reason I've always had a sort of 'mini-Hestia' (obviously with two nacelles as oposed to four) in mind when thinking of what a potential 'Cryptic skin' for the ship might look like.

Saying that, I really don't see myself using anything other than the Rhode Island skin.

...(Not a fan of the Luna) Pretty nice, may the Cryptic artists get inspired.

I'm a huge fan of the Luna, both its appearance and its performance. I did leave the mission pod off mine. With the pod it looks clunky, but without it it looks sleek and elegant, like a race-built yacht.

I kind of wish Luna was a bit quicker in the turn, but that's part of the compromise: she's a Sci/Tac with emphasis on the Sci.

Nova is a bit quicker in the turn, and a bit faster from zero to full speed, and if it went the Sci/Tac route it would be an awesome ship. Given its on-screen portrayal, it has canon support for being a Sci/Eng ship as well, but the in-game incarnations so far have been straight Sci/Sci.

I don't see a need to alter the layout: Nova looks fine as a mini-Sovereign. Just clean up her image a bit, and tie th new appearance into a story, possibly with Wang in it.

Going back to Equinox, what about a Photonic infiltrator console for increase shield pen, subsystems offline etc.

Edit: I can also completely imagine that on a Prometheus.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    Hmnn… some interesting ideas there!

I had shared some ideas earlier in this thread. Having thought about it a bit more, I revised some and expanded ideas for ships & Enhancements here: https://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/1245660/t6-ships-enhancements-sto-needs/p1?new=1

PS - I fully support a T6 Nova, fixing the Nova skins. I am also rooting for a T6 Science Cruiser, that can use Nova/Rhode Island skins.
T6 Nova/Rhode Island, T6 Oberth & T6 Constellation are needed. Also needed a T6 Science Cruiser, that can wear any Science or Cruiser skin.

I would love to try the trait from this ship on the Nova:
    https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/11016653
After achieving level 5 in the Fek'Ihri S’torr Warship Starship Mastery, you will unlock the "Maw of Gre’thor" Starship Trait. While this trait is active, traveling at full throttle will periodically cause massive bursts of fire to launch behind your ship, dealing fire damage to all those hit. Affected foes will additionally take Fire Damage over Time.

Imagine the Nova zipping around doing damage with flames behind it.

Partially acheivable using the 'Out of Time' Starship trait. Though OOT doesn't do damage.

I'll try to screenshot it when get a chance.

You know how it is with magic - you need to distract the audience from the real trick with flashy actions (and a beautiful assistant.) Why would it be different with space magic?

Let them focus on the blingtastic Lukari ships farting rainbows, cruisers tanking and escorts being agile pain-spitters.
Meanwhile, the Novas & other Sci ships pants them (strip shields and spank w/debuffs) & unloads death by beams and/or by torps!

One question, for my own curiosity.
Why you like this Nova class ship so much?
As a design i don't see anything beautiful (just my own tastes) and star trek lore wise it is usually a low tier /entry level ship.

Don't get me wrong, but also in other videogames nova class was usually the first and weakest ship we start with.
    Am i missing something?

Those who like it do so mainly for the design, some for it's versatility. The Rhode Island refit, on screen in Endgame, took on 2 Negh'Var battle cruisers. It was a legitimate threat to them (not OP mind you, but a threat they had to take seriously).
Everyone has their favorite starship. While it isn't my personal #1 it is one I like a lot. I haven't made a 'top ten' of my favorites but it is definitely a contender at the very least. I like it way better than the Intrepid/Voyager, which always looked too much like a kid's spoon to me. But to some fans that (Intrepid/Voyager) is their favorite ship.

I actually hated the Galaxy-class at first, and trash-talked it to my friends & colleagues in fandom. It took a long while to grow on me and the Galaxy X Dreadnought redeemed its shortcomings in my eyes. But it is not my favorite. Heck, for reasons I don't understand, I like the Nebula-class better than the Galaxy.

While I do not know every Trek game intimately, of the ones I am familiar with, it was either low or mid-tier, despite canonical lore placing it among the most advanced ships in the fleet. Most games were & are willy-nilly when it comes to canon, and often make their own TRIBBLE up. STO actually respects canon and so follows that rather than what other games have done.

Everyone has their favourites. And the Nova/Rhode Island is mine for several reasons - I won't elaborate as have said it all before and no-one really wants to read all that.

Anyway. like any other ship, it's not for everyone. You don't "see anything beautiful" in the design, and that's fine. I, personally hate the design of, for example, the Vengence - such is my taste.
I have a preference toward small ships and have loved the Nova/Rhode Island since the design first appeared in 'Equinox' and 'Endgame'.

As for your low-tier comment; that's a misconception: there is a Fleet T5-U version and MY FT5-U version has been my main ship for six years. And the purpose of this thread was to highlight the need for a quality pass on the model and, preferably, the T6 treatment.

Nobody but you likes the Oberth. It's the redshirts of ships and made of pure explodium...not just the consoles.
As I said on an earlier post the movies are all action based and make stuff explode easily, even the Ent D got easily breached by a BoP. T6 ships in the game are practically future advancements over the canon ships so there's no reason why a new version of the Oberth would have the same issues regardless. I am pretty sure that there's others who would also like a T6 Oberth besides just me.

Also I don't see why you felt the need to attack me over wanting a particular ship.

Because the Oberth is a running joke.

The ship is not a running joke. Trolls trolling are a running joke.
Production teams were generally stingy when it came to approving the building of new models, and only gave said approval when there were (to them) compelling arguments to do so.

When it comes to canon portrayal of ships, there are Hero Ships and cannon fodder. Look at all the Defiant class ships that were derbed in the various battles toward the end of DS9, or the Odyssey, a Galaxy-class ship which was constructed of Oberthium.

If ever there were a series centered on the captain and crew of an Oberth, you can bet your last quatloo that it will take out every Neg'Var and D'Deridex it encounters and have leftover energy for a victory roll through the debris cloud.

So, in a run of, say, two hundred Nova class ships, we might get one Equinox and one Rhode Island, with the rest of them being there to make pretty fireballs in epic space battle scenes.

Same for the Enterprise-class (Constitution Refits for the canon TRIBBLE police). The Battle of Wolf 359? TWO Enterprise-class cruisers bought the farm in that debacle. There are no 'Invincible' ships (ones made by omnipotent beings don't count); otherwise the first faction to make ONE would make tons of them and nothing else. Don't get me started on "Yesterday's Enterprise" where the alternate timeline created, Starfleet didn't even have enough ships for s full fleet, let alone any hope of winning that war.

Oberthium? A ship that hulltanks 3 Bugships and still manages to walk away, only finally being brought down by ramming (which always works) is "Oberthium"? If it was Oberthium, it would have exploded instantly on the first hit.

T6 Nova/Rhode Island, T6 Oberth & T6 Constellation are needed. Also needed a T6 Science Cruiser, that can wear any Science or Cruiser skin.

Who's angry? Not me. But I am wondering what an Oberth has to do with a T6 Nova. :smirk:

It is loved by some and loathed (or just overly maligned) by others. And both are Sci Ships.
