Silly question, is the T5 Obelisk upgradable to T6 or T6 Fleet?

kikskenkiksken Member Posts: 664 Arc User
Greetings;

As per the title, is the Obelisk upgradable?
If so, to what?
If not, is there a Fleet Version, perchance?

Thank you.

They haven't made a T6 or Fleet T6 version yet.

the lobi version can be upgrade to t-5u. but no t-6 version exists and is unlikely to be made.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Drats, they dropped the ball here.
I refuse to get the T5, as it is not feasible for the short time I will run that ship, and then decommission it permanently.
20'000 Fleet Marks and 2 Fleet Tokens?
Madness for such a temporary vessel!

I hope they'll put it to T6, only boost it's hull and Bridge officer/Console to fit T6.
Dang, they should make it even upgradable to T6 Fleet.

I DO have all the needed things: 36K Fleet Marks, 19 Fleet Tokens, but it is simply NOT worth it as it won't run long.
So bloody sad, as it seems a nice, beautiful ship...

Thank you for responding this fast.

They didn't drop the ball at all as they put the T5U in the Lobi Store, and gave players chance to acquire the mission version T5 Obelisk in the Fleet Store.

Edit for clarity: The T5U has the same number of consoles as T6, and hull and ship HP are practically identical to T6's. The only difference is you don't get an unlockable trait and have 5 less sub-system bonus total. Just because it doesn't have specialist seats, doesn't mean it's not viable or competitive.

And the T5 version (the one from the mission reward) is still a good ship in its own right. I've flown it from time to time on toons who have it.
Now a LTS and loving it.

So that ship can still hold is own at level 65?
    Hmmm...
Doubt it, unless your a serious tweaker...
And that is synonym to bloody filthy rich.

Got me the Fleet T6 Daeinos instead...
And to be sure the Tactical Pilot Warbird.

If you want a tactically inept whale of a carrier at T6 you could always pick up the Jupiter.

It's not great, but it's better then the Obelisk.

Uhm, that is a Feddie ship...
    And not so my thing...

I want ships with if possible 1Com Tac, 1Lt Com Tac, and 4+ Console tac slots.
I prefer to kill my enemy before they can hurt me.
For me, this tactic payed of a lot... :)

Then why were you interested in the Obelisk? It has almost no tactical seating and 3 Tac Consoles.

It's pretty much the exact opposite of what you're looking for. I was just picking something on par with the ship you were asking about.

Something that tac heavy for KDF you will want to look at Raptors or Raiders. The only other real option outside those is the Sarcophagus Dreadnought and that won't be cheap.

kar'fi is a tac-heavy, t5u, klingon carrier. It's a little squishy, but if you like the visuals it's a fun ship.

No other ship will give you the billowing black smoke like the Kar'fi. :)

I wanted to experiment with a Carrier, it has 2 banks for fighters, and uses these special ones.
Loved to check that out in a greater field.

Imma get me that Sarcophagus and see what that does in combat.
Thank you for pointing that one out to me.

T5U is basically the same as T6, just without a trait or specialization.

A Tier 5 Upgrade ship lacks a bridge officer power and a hybrid seat. That's actually a bigger deal than you make it out to be.

In Tier 5 setups, you often run into shared cooldown conflicts. You have a slot open for another power, but you already have a power that triggers the same shared cooldown. So you can't really use the slot as often as you'd like. Sometimes that was okay, because it allows increasing the total uptime of powers where the cooldown is considerably longer than the shared cooldown, for example. But at Tier 5, you'd often already run into this without getting a chance for a better uptime.

With a Hybrid seat, you suddenly open up the possibility to slot new powers that will definitely not have any shared cooldowns. And with the extra bridge officer power, you can even slot two of such powers.

And most endgame T6 builds nowadays include a considerable amount of cooldown reductions. That means you never need to double up on a power, because your powers are already cycling at the best possible frequency, as you reduce all cooldowns to the shared cooldowns.

So overall, the Hybrid seat gives you ways to considerably improve on a build without making any compromises, which in play means a ship without access to Specialization Seats would be considerably weaker.

The Tholian Recluse carrier can be used as a tactical ship since all its boff slots are universal but it only has 3 tactical console slots, also it's a lobi ship.

Been awhile since I took it out, so I don't know.

But I might dust it off and play with it on the one toon who has one. Though I don't play elite, just normal, so it probably will still hold its own once that toon reaches 65, not sure he's there yet.

And no, I'm actually space-poor. I use mostly what I have or can acquire with little effort or ECs. I have fun and I don't blow up very much, and that's all I care about.

    Such a shame...

Can someone suggest a good Tactical Carrier type, either Zen or Fleet Credits?
I run the Bortasqu War Cruiser on two characters, and I like to get one a seperate ship.
I was thinking for example the Kolasi Siege Destroyer?

    Thoughts, suggestions?

STO's double hangar carriers, especially on the Fed side are almost always Sci heavy, with the exception of the Tholian/Jemmy Lock/Lobi Carriers IIRC. Only the single Hangar Escort Carriers et al, are Tactical biased.

    Tsssk...
    The logic...
NOT saying Sci or Eng should NOT be supported for Carriers, just the logic eludes me for not having Tac (and seemingly Eng) carriers.
The lack in both is simply idiotic, which is an understatement, I think...

Since there are only 2 Federation C-Store Carriers, one at Tier 5, one at Tier 6, it's not surprising that 2 possible variations haven't been covered yet.

Originally, Carriers were a Klingon only thing, and together with Bird of Preys kinda balancing the Klingon faction's lack of dedicated science vessel. So the Carrier group of ships was originally science-focused, but in the lockbox/promo they often aren't anymore.

The Tier 6 Carriers available currently
    Tactical
    • Heral Vonph
    • Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier
    • Sphere Builder Denuos
    • Tzenkethi Tzen-Tar Dreadnought Carrier
    • Xindi Aquatic Briostrys Dreadnought Carrier
    Science
    • Kelvin Timeline T'Laru Intel Carrier Warbird
    • Jupiter Class Carrier

    Engineering
    • Vorgon RynKodan Carrier
    • Vedcrid Heavy Draednought Carrier
    • Valkis Temporal heavy Dreadnought
    • Durgath Temporal Heavy Dreadnought Battlecruiser
    • Universe Temporal Heavy Dreadnought Cruiser
    • Sacrohaugs Dreadnought Carrier

Only the Jupiter is in the C-Store,and the Ryn'Kodan was an event ship. The rest is lockbox, promotion or lobi material. I am kinda surprised how few of these Carriers are actually science based, considering the original Carrier, the Vo'Quv was science based.

If you want a Fed Engineering Cruiser, the Universe would work, if you want a Tactical one, the Briostrys would be your best guess (since the Xindi are Federation members by now).
