Need help with Tetryon Turrets

trek1961trek1961 Member Posts: 11 Arc User
Hello!

I'd like to ask for some advice from veteran players. I am a tactical officer and command an Alita Class Heavy Escort Carrier with Tetryon cannons which I decided early on because I thought that demaging shields would be a good idea. I invested a good chunk of time and resources to level up the cannons, two already are epic.

Nevertheless I have the feeling that I am missing on demage output whenever I am doing STFs and see other players melting enemy ships like there is no tomorrow.

So any advice on skills, consols, sets, traits or what not (including rotations) would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

    Thanks!

I only flew the mentioned ship until now, so not that many traits. I have no lobi traits or items and not that many tokens to buy lobi. Otherwise I have some resources and the will to hunt for certain items.

Listen to Napalm.. for the love of god don't listen to Pryor.

I still like Tetryon myself, Tetryon is actually in pretty good shape overall.. it has a lot of set item boosts so you can really get a nice damage boost to Tet builds. I actually put it just behind Disruptor and Phaser. AP is still really nice too despite the fact that it seems to have been mostly forgotten.

Overall, you should get a nice boost by taking some of the suggestions given.

Oh nevermind on the bounce effect. These don't even do that. They just have the chance mod as their own special thing...which is meh like I said. I guess the chance on a tet proc can be okay for PvP...but personally, I like poloran proc for PvP. That combined with tykens on a good drain science ship is a real handful to handle in PvP. What's that you say, you can't EPS back 50 power per second while taking 70 proc power drain from weapons? Even on hybrid ships, polaron will proc for like 40ish drain. That isn't chump change when you tykens for like 30 power drain a sec. Yeah kinda useless on PvE...but for PvP, it's a real killer.

Pryor has experienced this from me..@ 800 drain..The polaron Proc is deadly..Same with Tykens and Esiphon

I am not an expert at Tetryon builds at all so I am not even going to dig into that. I will leave that up to those who knows about it.

However, there is another very potential build that you can make apart from Disruptor, Antiproton beams and anything else that has been mentioned here. And that is keeping an eye on a Polaron build. Personally I think it is possibly one of the cheaper builds you can make given how there are so many mission rewards with good Polaron boosting items. You also have a lot of very good reputation gear that also boosts damage to Polaron.

Apart from stripping shields there is another very good way of destroying targets and that is attacking the hull altogether. It entails raising your DMG or CritD as far as you can and combining it with let's say the Advanced Shield Penetration skill along with the Nukara reputation trait Enhanced Shield Penetration. To that you can add the multiple damage % boosting starship traits, space and reputation traits to further boost your total damage output.

Combine that with Pedal to the Medal from Pilot specialization. the Emergency Weapon Cycle (Arbiter ship), Super Charged Weapons (Tactical Star Cruiser), Subwarp Sheath (Icarus Class Pilot Escort) and you have a very potent build. Of course you could replace one of these traits with something else more useful for your specific ship choice.

For some pretty wicked DOT damage you can go with the Plasma-Emission torpedo or some other torpedo of your personal choice. It is easier to destroy NPCs in Advanced difficulty when you do more damage to the hull through the shields.

If you are going to use Tetryon, you want the PEN mod unless you are using sets that boost Tetryon damage. That way, once the shield goes down, your Tetryon weapons can cut through the hull better than normal or any other type of Tetryon energy weapon.

    As for what to do...

Get weapons with good mods. AKA dmg and crtD. Get these to max rank.

I finally was lucky enough to craft PEN turrets and leveled them to Epic. What is considered the ideal DMG / CRTD (or any other combination) ratio?

As you resparked my interest in Tetryon Turrets, I decided to look more into them, so far I've gotten them enhanced well, keep in Mind, Tetryon will work best with more Drains and enhances damage, so these won't work well on a Tac/ Eng ship.
Also you will want to get Tetryon Glider.......
    https://sto.gamepedia.com/Ability:_Tetryon_Glider
This will add a passive proc per hit to ANY WEAPON TYPE......... on top of your already Tetryon 5% Proc terrets.
I got grind out another 1000 Omega Force Rep points before I get those.
You also want to add the Ainti-Chroniton Turret
The Heavy Chroniton Turret ( it's Polaron )
These all work in unison for a very devastating setup.
All these augmented with 500 to 600 Drain+........wow.....

Unfortunately these don't have the [Pen] mod........ found a solution to that few days ago.....
Get the Xenotech Pen Mod Consoles for your Engineering consoles
    https://sto.gamepedia.com/Xenotech_Engineering_Consoles
Adding 3 or 4 of those will make them turrets...... tear them Up

only -140 shields per hit..Im pretty sure at that drain level teh Qphase torpedo is still better.

600 DPS x 6 with all the tet proc's and Kemocite and 4 Xenotech [Pen] Engineering consoles will cut through most ships quickly....... now going against another ship like yours with a lot of Drain, all the tet procs won't work, I would have to switch to Counter Command Phaser or Disruptors build.

Shields dont last long with Regular weapons fire.Bad part is the tet proc is useless when the shields are down in PVE. Most of the PVPers dont care for shields these day :P

    A complete scrub lol
Its easy, decloak, Firing tets, hit em with a plactates, Tachion pulse, Sticky Web wall, Subspace Integration, Cluster Torp, Tykans, Siphon, Viral Matrix, by the time the Cluster Torp reaches them shields will be down........ BAM...BAM....BAM...BAM........Subspace Integration Collapses.....KAPOW......dead.

Some of the more skilled Engineering players will survive at about 35% and quickly repair.
The others started using some sort of teleport once they realize their about to die, then I wind up getting killed.
    All in all its fun.

It's more fun to launch the Cluster Trico at the Borg close to players. Players don't get advance warning and still get hammered by the Trico blast.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
