Temporal Fragmentation set changes intentional???

When the new T6 Temporal Science Vessel and Temporal Destroyer came out (update to the Wells and Mobius), new updated Manheim and Tipler consoles were released. Those new consoles are usable on any ship now. The old consoles were retroactively opened up so the old ones can now be used on any ship.

One of the things that made the 26th century temporal ships unique were that they were the only ships that could use those consoles. Was this change intended? Did they really want to open up those consoles to use anywhere?

Seems to me those ships just lost most of their magic. They are now just console sources, like every other ship out there.

I happen to like the consoles being non-exclusive. The ships already come with the consoles, they don't need to be any more "speshul".

I kinda agree I think it would be nice have less ship-specific consoles, and more consoles that are exclusive to different classes of ships. It would make ships that have fun consoles like the console on the patrol escort more useful an add to the possibilities of console-layouts that could be used. Hell might even get some players to see buying some fo the older ships in the pre-tier six tiers as worthwhile, if they could take these ship-exclusive consoles an use them on more ships overall.

I can’t say I agree with the change but it was intended.

Last time I checked, though, the set bonus was broken when using mixed versions of the consoles and Mannheim device hasn’t been updated to take into account larger ships (the copies clip through the player).

Usually I'm all for making ship consoles be slottable on every ship. Like this torp console I have on a Pilot ship: it's so generic, there's really absolutely no reason to restrict its usage to Pilot ships only. However, in case of the Manheim and Tipler devices, tbh, they're so thematically linked to time travel, that I think they should really be exclusive to at least timeships in general.

Yeah, like the Experimental Weapon Railgun on the Cross-faction T6 Escorts. The Railgun is equipable on any ship that has the Experimental Slot, but the Railgun Console that goes with the Weapon is ship locked. No need for that at all.

Yeah, but if i am not mistaken the console works even if you do not have the rail-gun weapon equipped, though if the weapon an console were part of a set it would be more an issue. I had actually thought it would have been interesting if the weapon an console were part of a set, and having the full set gave you a click-able ability that had you overcharge the rail-gun weapon [to deal a massive hit.
