Starting New Romulus Episode... Having Trouble

smooshy#7462 smooshy Member Posts: 233 Arc User
I'm having the hardest time getting New Romulus going, particularly on KDF characters. I talk to the Romulan Ambassador, I endure the cut scene, I talk to the Klingon representative... and I can't get any missions to trigger. Does anyone have a procedure (specifically, for KDF)? These are level 60 characters, so it's not level-locked. Is it dependent on story missions, that I need to complete certain episodes first?

Been a while since I've done them on a new toon, but I think you need to run to each 'zone' on New Romulus, and access the transporter in each, before the missions will show up...

I've heard that a lot recently, that KDF can't get New Romulus started, and have to rewatch the initial cutscene with Obisek and D'Tan over and over again. But I never encountered that, so it must be the result of something that changed recently. Someone ingame suggested to skip all missions in the story progression until New Romulus, bit I don't know if that helps... I have a lvl 40 Klingon at the moment, and I let you know what she'll experience when she hits lvl 50.

You did get the mission called New Romulus Aid, correct?

After you talk to your faction rep on New Romulus, talk to Kylor. You should go through another cut scene, get an accolade for enduring it, and see if you can progress any further after that. Kylor stands on the same platform where you end the beginning cut scene with D’Tan and Obisek.

If nothing happens after you talk to Kylor and go through his cut scene. Talk to your rep again and see what happens.

Maybe I haven't gotten the mission. The problem may be that the Romulan ambassador on Qo'nos isn't giving it when I talk to her. I talked to her again just to make sure, and she just thanks me for the offer to help. But nothing on New Romulus ever kicks in no matter how many people I try to talk to.

Did you select the very same mission in your mission log, as well? If you are eligible to do the new romulus arc, then you should be able to just pick the first mission and maybe that is what you are missing. Now, if you are not able to select at least the very first new romulus arc mission, its broken. Also, we are assuming you are level 50, right? lol.

Level 60 (I have several, and none of them work KDF side). Missions are not showing up. Romulan ambassador thanks me for offering to help. Cutscene after cutscene after cutscene. No first missions.

This appears to be broken, or there is some unwritten Klingon hoop that I haven't jumped through yet, like promotion missions when STO first came to console.

Did you talk to the Ambassador, the contact on New Romulus near the transporter, AND to the Foreman just past the KDF and Fed contacts? The Foreman gets the chain going with the Staging Area quest.

Yes. And yes. And tried. The Foreman will not talk to me. No missions drop, start, or complete.

I should add that I've done this quest string on several Federation characters (and Fed-aligned Romulans). It's just KDF that's giving me trouble.

The rep is done (thanks to Winter epohs) to Tier V. The missions just won't start.

I had trouble getting this one started on a new KDF character. I tried building up the reputation, talking to the ambassador, and so on.... I was only allowed to start the New Romulus missions after doing every storyline mission before them in the journal. That's up to and including the Borg arc, plus any "Yesterday's War" stuff you pick up along the way.

The rep is done (thanks to Winter epohs) to Tier V. The missions just won't start.

I had this same problem on my Jem, he is a Fed, but still same thing. Here is what I did to fix it.

You're Tier 5 in rep, that's good. The first couple missions you can do without unlocking anything. They're on New Romulus, the first one has you dig up and read a recording right by the staging area, and the 2nd one has you attend a meeting that's up by the door to the embassy. The first important thing you have to do is make sure that once you watch those cut scenes that you submit the recordings. This is where things get locked.

To press on, you need to unlock up to the New Romulus Aid arc in your mission journal. Not 'Romulan Mystery' you have to get to New Romulus Aid which is after 'Borg Advance.'

You should be able to skip through everything to get to this arc. Each arc will have one mission you can't skip but it will be something really easy. Either beaming to Nimbus and talking to someone, or speaking to someone on ESD/Qo'nos etc. If you get to a part where you are stuck and can't advance any further, try talking to the Romulan Ambassador then. That did not work for me, what I had to do was play the missions in the 'Yesterdays War' story arc. These missions (There are 4) have to be played and cannot be skipped. Once complete, it unlocked everything for me.

When you get to the New Romulus Arc, the first mission is called New Romulus Aid. You must complete this mission. Accept the mission and you will beam to New Romulus. You will have to watch the boring unskippable cut scene.. I know. Once that is complete, there will be a Klingon General at the bottom of the platform you're on, talk to her. She will then send you to talk to the foreman who is standing up on the platform where D'Tan was in the Cinematic. Talk to him and it will complete the mission 'New Romulus Aid.'

You should now have the missions unlocked. What I did was I skipped the entire rest of the Arc and then I just want to the Mountain Pass and got the mission from the NPC there. I then went to the caves, did the same thing, and finally.. the underground runs where you can signal D'Tan to complete the arc.

It took me a bit to figure out, but that's how I got it to work. Hopefully it helps you.

If it's not too much trouble, let me know if it worked.
