Mostly indifferent, but if this means I can put an old Romulan in the K't'inga family ships I fully support that. Same with the Fleet and T5U Kamarag.

Now the fact the Romulans are getting Klingon Battle Cruisers before the Klingons get a T6 Vor'Cha, well that is another matter entirely.
Thanks for the Advanced Light Cruiser, Allied Escort Bundles, Jem-Hadar Light Battlecruiser, and Mek'leth

This certainly takes us closer to our faction Masters.. You now. The Federation, which gets every thing while the KDF starves for attention with Romulus running a close second..
I still think they need to allow us to join the Tal Shiar..
You want to play a villain? I understand SWTOR has a Sith faction.

Kids, being a self-conscious, self-chosen Bad Guy isn't "cool", or "edgy", it's just lazy storytelling. Good villains think they're the heroes. Go watch Infinity War, and think about Thanos' motivation. That's a good Bad Guy. Torturing folks For The Lulz is just lame.

Maybe in the film but in the comics he does it because he wants Lady Death (MU personification of Death) to be his wife/girlfriend/lover, pretty sure he'd take what he could get.
That's why I suggested the movie. In the comics, Thanos was a pretty doggone two-dimensional villain, whose motivation was at base stupid (Death has no emotions, and cannot be "won" by any gifts). In the movie... well, I don't want to spoil it, but while still rather silly, his motivation makes sense from a certain point of view. And it's not just Being Evil - he honestly believes he's the good guy, and the heroes fighting him are misguided at best and downright evil themselves at worst.

The Tal'Shiar, though - every source we've been given for them, from TV to novels to the game itself, shows a force for self-conscious, self-satisfied evil that would fit in perfectly with the enforcement squads of IngSoc or the Fingermen of V's London. They don't do what they do for the greater good, they do it for personal aggrandizement (or sometimes just because), and the rest of the Empire trembles in fear of them. The existence of the Tal'Shiar is arguably the single strongest reason why an interstellar empire completely collapsed in the wake of a singular disaster - since the Tal'Shiar controlled so much through fear, losing their particular central command left the remaining parts of the Empire unsure how to proceed, or even how to communicate with one another. That left a power vacuum that was filled in part by the Tal'Shiar remnant under the command of the thoroughly suborned Hakeev, in part by the rise of the Romulan Imperial State, and in even greater part by the nascent Romulan Republic (the only rival with the sense to gain the assistance of both of the major powers in the quadrant, by promising them technological assistance in the future in exchange for such assistance now and playing each side against the other to gain stability). The only reason to want to play Tal'Shiar in STO is because you want to be some sort of swaggering interstellar bully - and really, guys, that's not a good look on anybody.

Jon's Post, supplemental: Oh, and as a minor point, Lady Death is a character in Coffin Comics, who first appeared as a backup character in Evil Ernie before getting her own title. The personification of Death in Marvel is female, but only conventionally attractive from the neck down - she's usually depicted as having a skeletal head, for fairly obvious and cliche reasons. Lady Death is emotional enough, but she's a killer super, not an ANTHROPOMORPHIC PERSONIFICATION (as the Discworld's Death would put it).

The Federation as shown in TRIBBLE doesn't deserve to survive the War......and wouldn't have if Burnham hadn't been lucky enough to find the stupidest Klingon ever to give the detonator to. Why blackmail the High Council into obeying you when you can take sole credit for foiling a dastardly Fed plot to kill them all?

No because of unbalance because Federation and Kdf gets nothing out of this.
As someone with 2 x Rom 60's, I can't say I'm too happy about this. Yes it's great that I no longer have to double up on ship buys to have comparably equipped toons and God knows my Rom admiralty deck left a lot to be desired, but rom captains have great personal and boff trait advantages. True they give up singularity abilities and battle cloaks if choosing to pilot fed/kdf ships, but as it stands, it's a no-brainer to create a Rom captain over any other, they give too much of an edge in the endgame.

Meh. I guess fed captains have had it easy for quite some time, but I wonder at the motivation for this decision. It should have been the case from the launch of the Legacy xpac that once you chose your alignment, you could pilot your factions ships *IF* you had no problem giving up the romulan ship advatanges. This smacks of, "keep em' playing by re-rolling!", which is counter-productive because of how alt-unfriendly STO is with regards to gamblebox ship trait availability etc. Or...maybe that's the method to their madness - try and encourage the hardcore to grind even more EC/buy Zen to gear up their new min-max toon.

To me, this is just stupid. Romulans get all the goodies while Feds and KDF get nothing. Not to mention the Jem'Hadar. Why can't I fly warbirds with my Fed, KDF or Jemmy toons? Why are Romulans so special? Forget the Admirality for a second and you will see that this is wrong.

Why, they're not really 'giving playable tier 5 and tier 6 fed/kdf ships to the Romulans.' You'd have to buy those ships first. :) But hey, at least I'll be finally able to place that 500k floor Trophy I once bought for my Rom.

Also, slightly worried this might mean Cryptic will be throttling back on unique Rom ship designs in the future.

For the most part, I don't really care either way. If a ROM character wants to fly either a FED or KDF ship, that's fine. If a ROM character wants to fly only ROM ships, that's fine, too. Something that might be interesting in the future, though, would be if the FEDs and KDF came up with ships that incorporated ROM technology like using singularity cores (and the powers that come with).

I will finally be able to use a D'kyr with Romulan armaments, it's gonna be glorious.
Shame Cryptic haven't done the T6 D'kyr yet.

True but currently I'm using a T5 Ambassador class. An upgrade to T5U is gonna be lovely.

Why? Roms are not a real Faction, so they're aligned with one. Feds are they own Faction, so it makes no sense for them to be able to fly Rom/KDF ships.

The question one may ask now, is, will KDF-aligned Roms now have access to the red Disruptors too?!

No, it's not wrong. It's a good first step. Full cross-faction unlocks are further steps along the line. Possibly with the "tier 6 mastery" model being pioneered with the new jemmy ships.

The reason it's done the way it is now is because they have to give the jem'hadar access to allied ships (since they only have a few ships of their own) and there is no justification to then not do the same for romulans. It's the players' job at this point to remind them that there's not really any more justification to faction-lock any of the ships at all.

I'd be happier if there were a quick way to assemble your admiralty cards without picking up and dropping ship after ship.

I'm gonna +1 this, because honestly that is gonna be a huge pain in the rear to do for four Romulan chars one by one. ^_^

Kinda like how it's a pain that you can't have salvage done on the replicator like disposals. :p Or is that being fixed now? :p

Little reason for the Feds or Klinks with the RRW using all their ships now.

if Cryptic can find a way to get into the backend and turn the two major factions into one giant faction instead with options to be apart of this or that military on level 10 and then go down their individual storyline after a shared tutorial, it would make this entire poll completely pointless.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

I hope FEDs and KDF get access to omulan ships rather soon. Oherwise ROM chars really will hold most advantages. This design choice is really pissing me more and more...
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

    My reply isnt there.

Yes because it will massively influx my Admirality List for the Romulan faction.

No because its a one way street, why do Rom get Fed+KDF but KDF dont get Fed+Rom and same with Fed not getting KDF+Rom.

    Whats the deal?

I am Deferi. I like my balance.

Which is rather ironic because this causes a rather large unbalance.
