they can't drop the ranks of cannon skills without completely TRIBBLE up the game...and given how even simple patches with barely any changes in it can break about 50 different things, i don't want them risking it just for the sake of parity between beams and cannons
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

Again, you make an excellent point, but that doesn't change that it's a factor weighing against Cannon. My KDF Tac, (whom I have sadly neglected), is still flying a Fleet Qib with a DHC build, and while it's harder to use than an FAW failboat, once she does get the nose pointed at the enemy and pops all the buffs and opens up, stuff just melts. So I'm certainly not denying that Cannon still have their place.

This thread went way out of topic with the cannon stuff. Yes, the rank of the abilities is really unfair given the proc rate change which doesn't make sense in the first place, but you guys should go complain about that in the space changes feedback thread.

Here, go complain to Spartan all you want:

(puckishly goes even further off topic)

Demolition Man was a great film! Widely derided because it is misunderstood, the movie is actually a spoof of political correctness in particular and the modern world in general.

CrypticSpartan seems to be a really good guy. He has answered questions for us, and participated in our technical conversations like no dev in my memory, and I have played STO off-and-on since February 2012. But I don't think he's going to change the direction of the whole update just because some clown with a handle like "chastity1337" complained :)

When I created my STO account, it wasn't letting me have any of the names I wanted, everything I tried came back as already taken. So I made that fatal error of choosing a wildly unlikely name in frustration...

so, the new cyclical power capacitors space trait from the privateer box - must-have for drain builds or use something else?

Sorry, been spending time scavanging on the Commonwealth this past week. From the rumblings I hear, it would be overkill, but definitely worth it.

An update to this very old post. The new max DrainX until the expansion drops using a Fleet T6 Nebula is 861. Now you can add the Lukari beam/torpedo 2 piece for +20 DrainX.

Have just been made aware of the Bajoran Deflector +80 and Saboteur 2-piece for +20. Time to grind to achieve perfection. Max has moved up to about 883.5 then.

How survivable is this? i mean i can't see any heals so wouldn't this just die quickly or do you use starship traits to compensate?

Speaking of Drain, does your drain ability affect the drain capacity of those automated Drain Drone Carier pets?
I'm thinking Contruction Anchor, Tykans Rift, .... that console that puts you in a shroud of darkness (-99 Perception) then explodes, meanwhile there is 12 Eliet Drain drones as you are pumbling them with 6 Polaron [Pen] Turrets with Kemocite Laced Weaponry.

Yes the Siphon Drones are affected by your DrainX skill...They are also Terribly Fragile in PVP.
The console description you using is for the subspace integration circuit.

Depends on what they are using and how high your drainX skill is.

In my Personal testing before the last patch..100DrainX Target(Only using Skill tree resists..No Specialisations) vs 800DrainX Aggressor(Me) seems to have quite abit of drain resistance despite the tool tip requiring for every 1 drainx your supposed to only need 2DrainX to overcome that resistance.

Tykens,Esiphon, Brajoran Core, Siphon Drones,Pilfered Power traits all Drain Significantly less than their tool tip would indicate VS a player (Re above). Stacking them on the other hand...Is still dangerous.

Havent played with the Polaron Proc or the Team Drain Doff..Both Look Evil at 800 drain X (-124 all) but I dont know if it works like that on players.

Well..your in Lucho's (TheVampireHimself) drain thread. Thats not a bad trait, However the only way to really consistently get 5 stacks is with Tachyon beam..

Personally I like any Space trait/Trait that ADDs another Drain Source (Be it shield or subsystem).Pilfered power is one..Some of the Ship consoles add massive shield drain and the Bajoran Warp core adds a minor passive Eshipon (Siphon drones are fun too but I only have them on my KDF toon..)
