Cryptic launcher auto update fails to connect

When attempting to launch the game we get this. Error unable to establish a connection to the patch server. I normally do not have issues with this but every so often it happens. I can't attach screen shots due to lack of Arc internal image hosting.

    Same thing just happened to me, three times in a row. I only received the log-in window on my 4th try.

    Game froze earlier and now I'm getting this as well. WTH?

    crashed several times while transfering maps. game would jsut freeze up. Autoupdater not connecting for relog. -.- But hey, I am sure they will release a new lock box or super rare ship soon!

    I can't get in either. It keeps trying to update the launcher then it crashes, saying that the server can't connect and that it's MY service provider problem. No, I'm pretty sure it's YOUR problem Cryptic.

    It's also not connecting , or loading today either March 5th. Five tries , and it times out attempting to load launcher.
    This has been happening a lot lately, the launcher attempting several tries.

    Game "froze" during the map/load into queue for Transdimensional Tactics for the Endeavor, on the character I have that has done it before, was "patching/map" on loading screen, figured game disconnected or something mid way but wouldn't kick, so End Processed it, now the error for Patch Server trying to load the launcher for STO non-Arc .

    was fine till about 5-10 minutes before this post having played 2 characters

    im getting the same issue. i ran a tracert and according to the scan, there is a problem with the path between the cryptic servers.

    Same problem, not able to connect to the game all day, after multiple tries in a row each time. Also with Champions. Do we have any info/official word on WHY this is happening to everyone? And/or an estimated fix time?

    Cryptic, the servers are on the fritz, I got into the launcher before and then decided to make sure it was ok, then after clicking engage, everything seemed fine, then after not being around the computer for a bit, I found that the game crashed and the crash report appeared, now I try to get into the game and after failing five times, it claims the fault of not getting in is my fault, I have checked my firewall and the Internet connection, there is nothing wrong on my end. Please fix this and have one of your employees try to get into the game as well. Thanks. :)

    This happened to me yesterday then worked fine. It worked this morning and now its not working at all. All I get is that its trying to connect to the patch server then an error prompt telling me it was unable to connect.

    eazzie, the CM is not useless, he is probably asleep. Though a community moderator did reply on a similar thread in the General discussion section of the forums on page 2. I think the thread is called Launcher down or something like that. Thanks.

    I'm having the same problem now as well. Tried half a dozen times. Then I finally get on. But after 20 mins a server lag kicks me out and I can't reconnect again. It's been like that all day.

    This has been happening to me the past few days... I think I first noticed it around March 1st or second?
    I've tried an ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew to fix it.
    I've tried a restart of my computer to fix it.
    I've tried restarting my router.
    Often nothing works beyond just waiting and trying again later.
    Eventually, I'm usually able to get through, but it takes a while... but it feels like its not an issue at my end because nothing will consistently work, just me being stubborn eventually gets though.

    I've gone though and done the network testing. Most everything seems reasonably ok on my end, and my ISP's.
    My ISP is comcast, and I'm in Northern California.
    Speedof.me test results:
    D/L - 99.43 Mbps
    U/L - 13.1 Mbps
    Latency - 28 ms
    Speedtest.net test results (averaged test results of 3 different servers within <50 miles of me):
    D/L - 180.33 Mbps
    U/L - 12.12 Mbps
    Latency - 21 ms


    The Nettest app always fails to connect, with the following error:
    unable to allocate performance buffer
    contacting nettest server..timed out
    hit return to exit


    Tracert results are fine, with sub 100 ms ping times. Pathping (and Tracert) currently fails at hop 16, which looks like its a cryptic/pwi issue, based on the surrounding IP addresses:
