Bridge Invitations

I'm having a small issue. When I try to invite a friend to my bridge, they don't see the invitation, and vice versa. Their ship is right next to mine, and I've even tried it by having them go to their bridge. Any suggestions as to why the invitation isn't getting through? Couldn't find any information on it.
