This week we Trek Out how computers could save Star Trek (not really), how Star Trek is celebrated around the world, Nichelle Nichols is the topic of choice for an episode of “Drunk History,” and Elijah makes his Star Trek Screen Debut in an episode of After Trek w/ Matt Mira. In Star Trek Online news, the celebrations continue for the games 8th Anniversary.

On Screen we have episode 14 of Star Trek Discovery, “The War Without, The War Within”

    As cool as it would be to have 'Original Kirk' and other characters preserved for posterity in CGI form, possibly for inclusion in future Trek movies and shows, is that what folks really want? I mean, sure, a background cameo every now and then probably isn't too bad (though honestly the Tarkin one in Rogue One kinda creeped me out), but beyond that I can't help but feel like it cheapens the characters to have them keep reappearing in 'mint condition' every time after an actor has aged up or even passed away. At some point I think that folks just have to let some characters take their final bows, and go.
