It looks like this years anniversary ship might not be free...

The devs are doing some kind of livestream, and people watching have a chance to win a book and the new anniversary ship. But somebody recently raised a good point: what is the point of the anniversary ship being a prize to these winners if it is free to everyone? So either they are including in their "prize" something everyone already gets, which is silly, or it might not be free this year?

    I would happily 'forgo the tedium of the 25 dailies and get the ship', as opposed to the 'forgoing of the tedium of the 25 dailies and not getting the ship' that I currently do.

    In my opinion, it's never 'free', it either costs 'an annoying amount of time-gated boredom', or a 'ludicrous and literally random amount of money'.

    I am, of course, insane for thinking this, so please feel free to ignore everything I said here.

    I think that's reading too much into it. The anniversary ships always come with a project grind. Giving away the ship on the livestream would (most parsimoniously) mean that the winner gets it without said grind.

    I would still do the grind to get Omega Upgrade Kits. Nothing beats them for the quality improvement chance. I have some use of those.

    yeah Grind avoidance seems more likely, the the ship being avaible only for those who join the livesteam. It would seem rather odd that suddenly Crypic would change something as fundamental as the aniversery ship being "free", especially in a way that would very likely result in excluding a lot of customers from gaining the reward (not everyone can be reasonbly assumed to be able to join in on the livestream).

    They also get the ship 15 days sooner, or 25 if there is no 400-token featured episode.

    wild guess if it's not just skipping the grind. it is not the actually event ship but the c-store ships with the set the works with the console from the event ship.

    if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

    As it's the Anniversary ship, we'll be playing a FE for 400 tokens and then doing the Omega missions for the rest because the Anniversary doesn't run as long as the Winter or Summer events. It's been that way since I've been playing, and I don't see it changing.
    Now a LTS and loving it.
    Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
    I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

    I'm curious as well which ship we'll be able to get.

    It's being given away after it will be announced. I prefer the surprise of not knowing until as late as possible. Mini-Christmases throughout the year.

    Only once has that ever happened, and that was with the Dyson Science Destroyer. Since then, every ship has been an alien ship that has a set tied to faction ships released later on in the C-store.

    Twice. The basic Odyssey and Bortas classes were anniversary ships too.

    Yeah I doubt they would kick themselves in the rear doing that, unless the ship that those turning in could get was a variation of the annv ship, though i see this as more of a convenience of getting the annv ship without needing to grind for it.

    I would say using only the current info we have, that we might see another Lukari ship added. I say that as we have seen at least one of the Lukari designs from the ship creation event get reused so far, and using one of the other designs that was popular could save some time an effort in creating the ship.

    Yes the Dyson Destroyer, but the anniversary version was a lesser version with a special part for the console set of the c-store versions.

    Maybe the winners get a slightly improved version. Though NOT having to grind is one hell of a prize

    I'll be all over those Omega upgrades though as I have at least 16 billion things that need upgrading and not nearly enough dilly doo da to upgrade them. In fact the ship will be the bonus prize.

    Hey guys,

    Lemme nip this one in the bud. The ship is free. The winners here just get it without having to participate in the event. We just wanted to give a bonus in-game prize in addition to the pdf.

    Speaking of what the anniversary ships might be, I think it's gonna be some kentari ship or maybe a t6 ambassador, t6 kamarag and some t6 romulan warbird or as mentioned above t6 dyson destroyers.

    I hope it's a faction specific ship (fingers crossed).

    The actual ship pack might even be T6 Kumari's since we got the T6 Vesta's last year and T6 Oddyssy's the year before, that's engi and sci ships so tac could be next. Of course the other factions will have to have some new ships invented for them to be fair.

    If it is a T6 Kumari, I hope it will have a longer neck.

    The Kumari design looks great imo, but an Andorian battlecruiser type of ship that could basically be a stretched version of the Kumari would also look great I think.

    3. Cruiser (Ambassador)
    4. Destroyer (Dyson)
    5. Cruiser (Kobali)
    6. Science (Krenim)
    7. Science (Lukari)

    So don't count on cyclical parity between TAC/ENG/SCI. It's never been a good predictor for anniversary ships.

    With the Krenim ship it's also worth pointing out that the accompanying C-store bundles don't necessarily need to be in the same class. Typically, they are but there's nothing holding Cryptic to a conventional pattern.

    You are listing the anniversary event ships, I am speaking of the c-store ship packs that usually come out during or after the anniversary. Also I'm predicting the T6 treatment cycle which has only happened twice now. I was never saying the anniversary ship and the ship packs follow the same type. ;)

    1. T6 Ambassador
    2. Another Lukari ship
    3. A ship from Discovery
    Though i do like to be surprised.
