8th Anniversary Update and the 8GB Patch

Anyone else getting this after exiting the game? Pre patch for something coming later?

    Most likely this is the pre-patch for season 14.5. Figure it'll be out by the first half of February and that leaves a 3+ month window to get Victory is Life out in time for 'Summer'.

    The "patched" figure refers to the size of the files being patched, not the size of the patch. Check underneath, where it tells you how much is actually downloaded.

    just got kicked out because of a "map restart to fix critical issue"... Not filled with confidence here.

    they said they will have restart 5 minutes before it. not sure why you didnt just leave before?

    Ugh, this patch is taking a while for me, I'm only at 1447/4713 MB right now. :/

    Ugh, this restart patch is taking a while for me, I'm only at 1480/4713 MB of it right now. :/

    I still have my admiralty grind and dilithium refinement to do.

    Yes I did that and it didn't let me play anyway while resetting it back to 4713, it still wants me to patch.

    Well I'm at 64% with 5036.65MB downloaded so far so I would say that 8781MB is an accurate figure. If only the patch wasn't such a pos... Been downloading for 2 hours. It should only take a few minutes.

    It seems I'm one of the luck ones with the 4713MB patch. Still, had to come to the forums to check I hadn't gone crazy...or my computer was. Ermmm Devs, I wouldn't mind a little warning before such things in the future. Just FYI if you read...

    There was something in the game not working as intended earlier, but given the size of the download it seems a bit large to be just for that. Mine is 8.78 GB and I did update Tribble the day before. Seems the patch was introduced after noon or so PST.

    It would take a shorter amount of time if you were the only one downloading from the patch-server.

    It came up for me earlier, I stopped it and quit as I needed to download something else. Now it hasn't come back again.

    Ah, must be a pre-patch, it started up once I closed the game again.

    Oh it decided to start over from the beginning for some reason. That's great. That's another 2 hours.

    You know, I logged in the play Arena of Sompek so I could at long last get that Prolonged Engagement Phaser Beam Array from the Weekend Store and then popped out of the game after popping it on my ship and upgrading it like mad.

    Then the same dang patch of 4713MB loomed as the game closed. As it turns out...it trolled my with a brief patch and then sorta went; "Got you...haha. OK you can exit the game now!"

    Damn you STO Devs, damn you. KHANNNN you stop the troll patch pretense? lol

    I left mine running last night while I went to bed and it was the 8g patch. It supposedly patched as the window was gone when I woke up. Played a bit and the window popped back up as if to patch and then vanished. I guess it didn't need any more pre-patching.
    Now a LTS and loving it.
    Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
    I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

    but if you abort the patch than second patch comes but its only 5mb and you should be able to play.

    at 1,3gb out of 4,7gb... well thats one huge patch. that mod thing cant be so big can it? 14,5 with so many new things?

    Yeah while pre-patch is active it'll do that just to check. But since you already downloaded the pre-patch it says "Oh you got this already, bye.".​​
