Predicting the next Winter Event ship.

So far the only ship I can think of which may get released this upcoming Winter Event is the Breen raider since it hasn't had Tier 6 treatment yet, however outside of the T6 Breen carrier we haven't really had a pure science Breen ship without the carrier aspect, since there is already two different tactical Breen ships (raider and warship) it is probably possible that we could also get a Breen science vessel.

But in all honestly I am pretty much tired of the Breen ships and do wish we could get something else for a change, but it really doesn't seem very likely at this point.

Any thoughts on what ship we may get next?

breen raider isn't t-6, so I'm guessing t-6 breen raider.

Gonna most probably be a scout class ship (sci oriented, sensor analysis and flanking bonus).
  • burstorionburstorion Member Posts: 1,604 Arc User
nah, its got to be an MW ship to hawk that system

    So either its:

    A) A Breen raider with MW seat (all my want)
    B) A new ship with MW (fine by me)

    or

    C) A Breen ship (Heavy escort raider?) with MW - something that reclassifies the breen raider so it is more MW suitable; using the breen raider t5 console as its console t6'd

Look at the reversal here. For 2016, Summer gave an Escort, Winter gave a Warship. This year Summer gave a Carrier. I'll take a guess on this and say it will be in the Scout/Escort genre. As to what the setup will be. Hmm.. I'll hazard a guess and say it will play in as a part of the Miracle Worker spec somehow.

What about the old Sarr Theln model as a Breen Science, Command or Temporal ship?

    Sarr_Theln_%28old%29.png?version=2c26958dc352d1c1f79a82ac8749e23e

Or this 'Breen Dreadnought' as ... uhmmm ... a battleship? modelled after @artan42 's face :open_mouth:

I'd expect a cruiser or a science ship. The breen have had enough time in the winter event over the years. The dominion have only shown up once and It would be nice to see some other race, maybe borg ships with Borg running the races instead of Breen?

Start off with a Sphere as your general purpose cruiser? Then work out from there, the Diamond is the science ship, the Cube is the dreadnought, the Probe is the escort. What was known as Lore's command ship has become Hugh command ship is the carrier that launches probes or scout cubes.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.

If it wasn't going to involve the Breen, the only other thing that would make any real sense would be to move it to Andor and give us Andorian ships.

But considering how there are already Andorian ships in the c-store in T5 form, it seems more likely that any new Andorian ships will be c-store ships.

I know, I was just pointing out in response to the suggestion (possibly a joke suggestion, I'm not sure) of involving the Borg rather than the Breen, that the Andorians would be a far more logical alternative race if Cryptic did decide to move in a different direction, which I don't think they will anyway.

Such a move would actually mean that there is a point to Andor's existence in the game as well.

Joke? i was not making any joke and i was presenting a creditable alternative.
The problem with Andorians is that their ships are part of Starfleet and the Federation in history, how could Andorian ships be given to the KDF and Romulans when the Escort ships have been FED Only?

I pointed to the borg because they can operate in harsh climates and because they haven't been noticed since DR.

It will be the T6 raider obviously. And for some odd reason @thay8472 I wasn't notified of the tag this time.

Clearly gonna be a Breen Plesh Brek upgraded to T6 as it’s thelast breen ship to get that treatment. After that we will be in unknown territory I guess so next year will be interesting for sure.

I agree, I think the Breen Raider is the most likely/logical Winter ship this year, as it's the only Breen ship left without the T6 treatment. Next year, who know? I'd be surprised if they came out with a fifth Breen ship, that would herald 5-piece space sets. :astonished:

There was a Cardassian cruiser mentioned in the Valiant episode of DS9. The devs would have nothing to go on other than it was a Cardassian cruiser.

Then there was the Feringi that Picard fought with his first ship the Stargazer. Again, it was only mentioned that it was a feringi ship.

There are probably more opportunities for the devs to get creative on.

I personally would wish for a Borg Probe with the ability to assimilate NPC ships or adaptation shield system that would maybe make you immune for a certain amount of time with quick regeneration of hull and shields. The ship can have design elements so you can tell which is fore or aft. Even the Sphere has a circular portal on it. I don’t buy the argument of not being able to tell which is fore and aft.

T6 Plesh Brek (as boring as the rehashing of old ships is) and it won't be a MW ship. Maybe intel and/or pilot.
  • starkaosstarkaos Member Posts: 10,689 Arc User
    A Snowconian ship.

    So bored with Breen ships.

Don't like them, they're only Admiralty Cards to me.

Yeah, when we got that 5th ship and you couldn't form Voltron (Breentron?) I lost interest. :D

Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

If we go by what we saw last year...

T6 Breen Plesh Brek as the consoles don't have the T5. Every time the console players get access to T6 variants of lockbox ships, it eventually makes its way to PC. The console players got the T6 Chel Grett for last year's Winter Event. This year its a safe bet we'll get the T6 Plesh Brek. Also it follows the pattern that we had with the T5s. Chel Grett followed by Plesh Brek. Then we got the Sarr Theln, followed by the Rezreth. What they will do NEXT year... is up in the air as PC players already have access to the Sarr Theln, but not the console players.

I still wouldn't mind the ability to pick up a Bleth Choas fighter somehow. My KDF could use some more small craft admiralty cards, and I wouldn't mind flying a Dralthi. ;)

But as I said earlier about a pure science vessel, the T6 Breen Sarr Theln Carrier only has 4 science console slots and a Commander and Lieutenant science boff seats, a pure science ship usually allows for 5 science console slots and a Lieutenant Commander science or universal boff seat in addition to the Commander science boff seat, so it's possible that they may not stick with the obvious and make an actual fully science ship. But the Raider does seem more likely.

I suspect it'll be a breen ship of some sort seeing as they and Andorians are really the only races that are associated with cold climates and no the Borg aren't an viable alternative, they are associated with a polar (excuse the pun) opposite of cold climates as the "default" Borg climate settings have nearly 40 degrees celsius ambient tempeture (that's about 105 degrees or so farenheit so we're talking really hot here) and also really humid that's something you'd get in India not the artic circle.

while cold air is really dry and cold (well duh)
  • rattler2rattler2 Member Posts: 46,976 Arc User
Also with Andorians being a Federation Member... it wouldn't make sense to make a cross faction Event ship that was Andorian available to the Romulans or KDF. Especially with the T5 Kumaris in the C-Store being Fed Exclusive.

Exactly so unless Cryptic wants to make new race for the purpose of giving us variations for the winter event (unlikely even if their contract with CBS would allow that) Breen are the only realistic option.

I could see the Breen getting a true fully science vessel, not to mention i would love to see what it looks like, compared to the more carrier styled/feeling/oriented Sarr theln. Though issue with that idea is that the Breen do not really have a science class ship, as most of their ships are well battle-ships, while the Sarr theln basically serving that function for these fleet of ships.

Though personally on the order of the npc-models used for the Sarr Theln, as well as the Rezreth,. I personally would rather see these done as a event project we can complete to unlock the parts/design for use on them (I honestly thought that should have been how they were done all along with the new model being from the ship-project, and a npc-model project to get that).

I actually would not mind seeing some Lukari/Kentari ship models done for the winter event, like Q drags them from the future for us to gain usage of them via. I could see honestly the entire set of ship designs that were voted on during the event to choose the design for the anniversary ship, as being quite able to be used for different ship types (as evidence from the saucer becoming a schout science ship).

Though could we see maybe another race's ships added like they did with the Vorgon for the summer event. Even though they don't seem to fit I would not mind seeing them do the Undine ships. Hell even the idea of what they are doing with the allied ships that are merely ships from races wihtin the factions, like the Sulaban/Catian/Gorn an such, doing that with the next event choosing one of the allied races of each faction to build the next event ship. I could see using the Lethean an Saurian for two examples. Though another possibility could be the Deferi, even though not that liked by players I do wonder what they might develop for ship designs.

But a Snow Borg Icecube is an appropriate alternative for the Winter Event.
