Designing the T6 Nova Class Science Vessel (Make it So Cryptic Devs)

vosorosvosoros Member Posts: 343 Arc User
Whilst we've all posted about our want of a T6 class of starship and had many agree they'd like one too, I think the Cryptic developers (behind the scenes) have quietly nodded their heads in agreement and then noted just how much work they already have to take care of as is. I mean, making a ship requires a LOT of work and stat thought...

I can't make the ship for us T6 Nova class dreamers Cryptic, but I've sure as hell done the stat work, mastery starship trait and cool console stuff for you. Hang onto you hats as you read what's to follow T6 Nova class science vessel fans and Cryptic folk.

;)

Tier 6 Nova Class Concept

Equinox Class Science Vessel

The Equinox class is based upon on iconic Nova class, but with a more advanced design. Named for the infamous U.S.S. Equinox, the Equinox class ethically realised the potential of her namesake irrespective of its dubious influence.

Ships Details

• Enhanced Particle Generators (+Exotic Damage)
• Advanced Shield Systems (+Shield HP)
• Enhanced Restorative Circuitry (+Healing)
• Reactive Shield Technology (+Shield Regen/Hardness)
• Nucleogenic Enhanced Weaponry (Starship Trait)

Console – Universal – Nucleogenic Infusor

This console provides a +10 passive boost to all power levels, shield hardness, damage resistances, and sector space travel speed.

This console may be equipped on any console slot on any tier Nova class starship. You may only have one of these consoles equipped at a time.

Starship Trait – Nucleogenic Enhanced Weaponry

After achieving level 5 in your T6 Nova class science vessel, you will unlock the Nucleogenic Enhanced Weaponry starship trait. While this trait is slotted your phaser damage will increase by 25% and you’ll gain +10 firing cycle haste.

Admirality Ship Stats

Engineering: 30
Science: 90
Tactical: 30
Special: +20 engineering, science and tactical when alone.

Console Set Bonus – Nucleogenic Displacement

Equipping both the Photonic Displacer and Nucleogenic Infusor consoles onto a single Nova class science vessel grants a 30 second cooldown reduction to the Photonic Displacer console and your photonic vessel now fires quantum torpedoes.

The nucleogenic tech is an homage to the 2 part story episodes at the end of season 5 and start of season 6 of Voyager entitled; Equinox (part 1 and 2 respectivly). I've poured over these 2 episodes to glean information about such things along with the help of the 50th Anniversary Star Trek Encyclopedia.

Inspiration has also come from some other consoles in Star Trek Online.

Please feel free to discuss what I've worked on here and let me (and Cryptic devs) know if you really, REALLY want this T6 Nova concept to become a reality...

And to satisfy any legal constraints; I hereby legally permit Cryptic to use and/or modify any and all of this T6 Nova Class Science Vessel concept for Star Trek Online as they see fit.

That’s quite impressive, I would like to see a T6 Luna Class myself but the Nova is a nice ship as well

It's really about time they make a T6 Nova.

Not because I want it, or are interested by a potential trait or something, merely because this horse needs to die and its continuous threads with it, at last.

I like it, a lot actually - and the traits would fit it nicely!

What specialisation would you give it though? I've always thought Pilot would suit it well myself although Miracle Worker might be interesting, and would also be something of a callback to the USS Equinox still being in one piece despite taking a battering from the Krowtonan Guard when it arrived in the Delta Quadrant.

Though at this point really couldn't care less so long as they actually MADE one.

My thought is they found a ethical and sustainable source of nucleogenic energy in the future and the legacy of the Equinox survived, if as nothing more than chilling whispers...

As for a specialization, I never thought of any. Pilot is the only one I'd really think of with this ship if any however.

No worries. I did this myself a while back with KDF ships. I started off with two ships and turned in to four. So it can get quite involved.

Here is the post about it it from 2015.
    https://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/1187380/syndicate-science-support-vessel-2-pack

The thing here is. Once people are looking at it, and have had time to think about it. I'd likely expect to see others popping in with ideas on stats and such.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the very fact that you done all this makes it legally impossible for Cryptic themselves to do it. Not to mention that your designs lack the design language queues that Cryptic adheres to in their own ships, such as at least one specialization seat per T6 ship.

Perhaps. But for my part, the ships I designed. Cryptic can feel free to use them. That's why I did it. It was a fun little project, with the purpose of them potentially being used.

I think the Nova is one of the ships they confirmed are never getting a t6.

That could be because they only ever did a Tier 2 and a Tier 2 refit of this class. Plus the Rhode Island is the free Adm card from level 10 Fed.

Which.. kind of stacks things against it happening.

And an Orion Science vessel. And before you say no to this, that Orion's aren't science oriented.

During the mid-23rd century, noted Federation archaeologist Doctor Roger Korby translated medical records from the Orion ruins that helped revolutionize modern immunization techniques and became required reading at Starfleet Academy.

The Orion University was a university located on the planet Orion.

In the late 2240s, this university was involved in a cultural exchange program with the University of Hurkos. This university was mentioned in the biographical data file of Devinoni Ral.

    Kind of proves otherwise.

Odd - I've been flying a FT5-U Rhode Island for the past four years....

This is also likely why. My bad, I don't tend to pay attention to the C-Store and Fleet ships. Never bothered with them personally.

Right, moving past some of the angst in this post I shall let you all know that I've reviewed the stats of my OP (original post) after scouring T5, T5-U and T6 ship stats (comparatively) for the Nova and Intrepid class starships to help guide the design.

And to satisfy any specialization bridge officer station needs, I've modified the OP in that regard too.

Furthermore, I've added some class flavor text which I'll share here too...

    Equinox Class Science Vessel

The Equinox class is based upon on iconic Nova class, but with a more advanced design. Named for the infamous U.S.S. Equinox, the Equinox class ethically realised the potential of her namesake irrespective of its dubious influence.

I don't see why the Rhode Island admiralty card would decrease the chances of a T6 Nova happening. The Zdenia and that Klingon ship (not really good at their names, sorry Klink fans) both represent playable T6 ships.

I'm surprised there's still no T6 Nova. It's one of few canon ships that are still missing at T6. Maybe they are waiting until they can give it a Miracle worker seating or so. Harry Kim may not have been an engineer in the sense that Tucker and Scott were pure engineers, but at times he surely was a miracle worker.

    It would fit I guess.

T6 Luna, Star Cruisers and Kumari would also be welcome.

With your suggestion being the latest in a long-line of Miracle Worker spec station I have updated the OP accordingly for the Lt Science/Pilot or Miracle Worker.

It seems that the ship can both fly better in the 25 century and can endure beyond expectations with what little we've seen of this canon class of starship.

Oh, I have hopes that Santa will stuff a T6 Nova in my STO stocking this year...

I like it. Only thing I would say is that the console and trait seem overpowered, especially for a non-lockbox ship. I would make the console's boost to power levels into an active ability, with a cooldown that would also be improved by the two console set bonus. And the trait, I would make that something that's triggered by BOff powers. Maybe have it triggered by shield heals? Or maybe tie it in with the specialization, have it activate when you use a pilot/miracle worker ability (with a lockout timer, say 45 seconds).

    So maybe...

Console – Universal – Nucleogenic Infusor

When activated provides a +10 passive boost to all power levels, shield hardness, damage resistances, and a passive + 10 sector space travel speed. 2 minutes to cooldown.

This console may be equipped on any console slot on any tier Nova class starship. You may only have one of these consoles equipped at a time.

    Followed by...

Console Set Bonus – Nucleogenic Displacement

Equipping both the Photonic Displacer and Nucleogenic Infusor consoles onto a single Nova class science vessel grants a 30 second cooldown reduction to the Photonic Displacer and Nucleogenic Infusor consoles and your photonic vessel now fires quantum torpedoes.

Check my revision in the quote of the stats.

Also, the Pilot seating would place it more in the raider/escort class. It being a sci ship, Temporal Operative or Miracle Worker would likely be the best two options here. Which I included the Temp Op seating in my revision.
