Which Rom cruiser and escort?

f8explorer#7814 f8explorer Member Posts: 1,328 Arc User
Ok ... I'm looking to put a cruiser on one of my Rom toons and an escort on another.

I do NOT want to use the Reman ships so we'll pass on the big bats.

For cruiser ... anything better than the Romulan command cruisers? And same question for intel escort ... the Faeht?

What are you flying?

Morrigu is a fantastic ship. If you want something that flies like a BoP then the Faeht is a good choice as well.

I gotta say the morrigu really is built out of pure win....
That said I do love the escort carrier series as well. Little fragile but good ships

I don't really like any of the Romulan cruisers. On the other way I love the Faeht and the T'Varo T5u or T6
Jamal : Tactical space specialist. USS Bug Warrior and many others
    E'Mc2 : Science Reman torp T'Varo, deadly annoyance :P
Kunmal: Tactical fed Klingon, ground specialist, USS Kanewaga
Ka -tet Tier 5 fleet fully completed Starbase and fleet property

I'm with innuwarrior. While the cruisers are all right, none really grabbed me, but the T'Varo T-5U and T6 are made of awesome Romulan win! My two Romulan captains almost never fly anything else (except to get new ship Traits).

Cruiser - Fleet T6 Advanced Warbird (Haapax T6 variant). Hands down behaves like a cruiser/maintains the Romulan style.
Escort - Fleet T6 Mogai Heavy Warbird (Morrigu). 14 basic turn instead of 16, but cannon-build viable and with the best boff seating close to an escort/tactical build.

while you most likely have made up your mind i find the Faeht to be a grand warbird.

While the Morrigu is indeed a fine ship, I am and will always prefer the Command warbirds (The kitbashed Deihu with the Vastam hull in particular) over all others for my cruiser needs. Extremely durable ship with good firepower, and a solid team-based player (with the right build). For escorts...I would agree with Nickcastleton - the Faeht. Mean little ship with a lot of versatility as far as weapons loadouts go. My two EC.

The Morrigu is gorram brutal but I prefer my Malem for the Romulanness of it and the Beach Ball of Death and Destruction.

For a cruiser I like the Kara because I like the hull separation but for actual combatworthiness I would recommend the Vastam.

Gotta go with the consensus here - the Morrigu is one excellent ship. I also own the Fleet Ar'kif. Which is another excellent ship. For pure 'Rommieness' though, I recently purchased the Fleet T'Varo and went all in on as many Romulan Rep things as I could put on it. Next, I included all the Consoles for the Big Red Beachball of Doom. It does not diasppoint. Ever.

Got a fleet Ar'kif too. A bit squishier than my Klingon escorts but they don't carry a squad of scorps either.

    She's pretty too.

Ar'kif, Ar'kala, and Jhu'ael are badass birds but I still prefer my Morrigu

I love my Deihu, but I'm kind of surprised that no-one's mentioned the D'Kellra. The D'Deridex is just a classic, hands down my favorite Romulan ship.

Admiral Dananra Lekall - R.R.W. Teverresh, Deihu-class Warbird

The OP asked if there was anything better than Command Battle Cruisers, and while I main a T6 D'K with D'D looks, I'd consider the Tac Vastam Command Battle Cruiser to be mechanically superior.

The Vastam is far faster turning, Fleet grade right from the C-Store (versus needing a 500Z/~15Mil EC token and Fleet access), Command Hybrids in a much better place than the only Lt. Comm Tac, 'Inspiration' abilities, a much better Trait, four Tac consoles, and a hangar. The only real advantage I with the D'K is the console, but a neat hugging-range damage clicky and the ability to run subsystems at 130 power doesn't make up for all the other advantages the Tac Command Battlecruiser has. The fact that the D'D/D'K has a Sci Lt. Comm was something I'd consider an advantage before S13, but with Gravity Well 1 basically rendered a screen decoration, I wouldn't anymore.
