T6 Science Build for the Morrigu

wotertoolwotertool Member Posts: 96 Arc User
Hello everyone,
I made a (very) long pause from STO and I see myself slowly returning. A lot has happened since I left.
A new skill tree, lots of new content, etc.

Now, I was never a particularly good player, but I'd like to ask if someone could help me with the skill point spending and possibly new ship weapons/consoles.

Since the skill tree changed, I have 0 points spent. My consoles aren't worth much either for a proper build so I'd start from scratch more or less.
(I also tried to use the search function but all I came up with were posts from pre-2016).

My character is level 58 and my ship is equipped as follows:
- I got 2x Romulan Plasma DHCs Mk 12 and 1x Romulan Plasma Dual Cannon Mk 12, 1x Radiant Quantum Torp Mk 12 and 3 Turrets in the back.
- I have the 3 piece Solanae Set (Deflector, Engine, Shield) Mk 12, a random Dual Injection Singularity Core Mk 10 (hue) [SingA +C], some resistance consoles in engineering and 1 EPS Flow Reg Mk 12.
- A Particle Gen Mk 11 and Shield Refrequ. Mk 12 in science slots and ... this is kinda embarrassing, 5x of such special universal consoles in the tac slot.
- Ablative Hazard Shielding, Plasmonic Leech, Shield Destabilizer, Enhanced Induction Coils and Singularity Inverter. I know there should be 5x Damage consoles in there ...

About Traits and Reputation, I'd like to ask for suggestions.
Generally I would like to know a build that I can work towards, either something completely off meta (I am using a Valdore Class after all) or a more traditional-leaned build.

I tried to get something in the Gravity Well + Torp Spread direction, plus support for other teammates. It worked kinda well too in PvE Scenarios, never tried PvP however since I lack the gear and knowledge.

Thank you in advance,
wotertool

Cryptic nerfed that in Season 13. Gravity Well 1 might as well be a screen decoration now. I would train the Science officer in the Intel Specilization: on the Exchange, choose Training Manuals -> Intel, then set the quality to Ultra-Rare to get the manual needed to do this. Then grab 'Override Subsytem Safties III' from the Exchange too (set the rarity back to Any) to train that too. Training is done under Personal/Personnel ('U' on PC) -> Click the officer on the left then Skills at the top to do the training. OSS3 gives you a large boost in power levels, particularly Weapon Power, that can give a nice kick up in damage if used well.

One of the newer mission has Trellium-D Plating console, use that to replace all the armor you have in Engineering and then put most of the Universals you have in Tactical up there instead. I would recommend at least 4x Tac consoles for Plasma, or better yet, 4x Vulnerability Locators from the Fleet Spire [Plasma] (which requires being in a Fleet and having the space monies for it). Since that likely means pulling some fo your Universals off your build, I'd recommend keeping Ablative Hazard Shielding and Plasmonic Leech around and putting the un-used ones on one of your inactive ships instead.

Also, since you didn't mention it, the Morrigu and other escort/raider type ships got upgraded to have a new slot called 'Heavy Weapon', you can get a free lighting-bolt looking one from the Dilithium Store -> Reclaim tab. Competive Reputation has one you can buy(once leveled), and a few of the newer ships come with a different one that's usable in any Heavy Weapon slot.

Thank you. I bought both training manuals and will try the new specialisation now. I also have equipped the Heavy Weapon, I didn't even notice initially that there was an empty slot. ^^
As soon as I hit level 60, I will play the Ragnarok Mission to get the Trellium-D Plating Console.

Though I have access to a fleet (haven't joined it yet because of character limit [Fleet rules]), I first have to gather some Dilithium to be able to pay for 4 Vulnerability Locators.

Thank you again, hopefully another few helpful people can help me get the rest done too.

On the main page there's a recent post linking to Qthulu's set of guides for newer players, should cover most things you're wondering about.
