Why can't I damage NPCs in Brushfire?

slinkiisuslinkiisu Member Posts: 15 Arc User
I've tried posting this twice now and I swear Cryptic is censoring me. The NPCs in Brushfire take no damage whatsoever no matter what I'm shooting them with, but they can damage my away team. It takes anywhere from three seconds to three minutes before suddenly they start taking damage. I'd post the damage log of ONE fight, but I get the feeling that made the post too long and that's why Cryptic refuses to let me post.

It's a known issue. It has something to do with how the cut-scenes tie into the action. The NPC's can't be harmed by the turrets in the scene, and for some reason it takes a while for them to come out of this "invulnerable" state once the scene ends.

It's not just you, it's how the game 'works'.

My damage log is here https://pastebin.com/8aaBJi9V
And no, it's not just on Romulan characters, I've tested every class on every faction, it's always the same issue.

Oh, so that's what it was. I was wondering why it took a while for damage to register.

Hi! @iamynaught's response is correct. The guards will become damage-able once they aggro onto your character. So if you're having trouble getting them to do that, I'd suggest using Threatening Posture.

Is it only aggro on your character that counts? What about boffs, combat pets, fabrications, security escorts, and clones from the Shard of Possibilities?

Boffs, combat pets, fabrications, security escorts - definitely not.

Shard clones - I'm not positive, but I would suspect not.

You might want to consider changing how that works. It seems it bit weird that neither your boffs nor anything you spawn can damage an enemy until you personally attack it.

I tought there was something fishy there ^_^I as engineer have seen it happening but then i place turrets (quantum and phaser) and i place 3 drones and that seems to do the trick. Not instant tho but they get damaged and die :)
