Starship Trait: tactical Analysis

postinggumpostinggum Member Posts: 1,117 Arc User
Wiki says:

'Game Description: While this trait is slotted, activating Tactical Team will provide a boost to hull penetration for a short time. This buff does not stack.

Upon activating Tactical Team, your weapons gain 20 armor penetration for 10 seconds '

What is this actually giving you then, and what does 'does not stack' mean when everyone will have some degree of armour penetration going on?

Activating tac team gives you 20 Armor Pen. Its a form of hull resistance debuff.
Does not stack meaning it doesn't interact with any other form of armor Pen your currently using..Stackable means you can add additional sources of Armor Pen for values of 50 or 150 for example.

"Does not stack" in this context means that the boost from this trait cannot stack with itself; and does not refer to its interaction with other sources of Armor Penetration. It does stack with other sources of armor penetration.

Ooo thankyou for the clarification..But why mention it cant stack with it self(a 10 second ability) when the ability it activates from has a global cooldown of 15 seconds?

So this is 20, as in 20 penetration and not 20 as in adding 20 to the hull penetration skill?

So 20 Armor pen is = 200 Hull penetration per the skill tool tip. (Unless the values changed Last time i looked).

The wording is "Armor Penetration", which is what it gives your weapons. If it was adding to the skill, it would say "Starship Hull Penetration"; because that is the name of the skill.

Maybe you can give and clearer explanation since there is an "Armor Pen" value associated with the Hull Pen skill and how that is differ (but kinda reads the same from the skill point tip) from the Abilities/Consoles/Traits that have an armor pen value as clearly 2 of us don't seem to understand the differences.

    +100 Hull Penetration
Total Skill bonus = 100 (From Hull Pen)
    Total Armor Penetration = +10

The Armor Penetration that results from the Hull Penetration skill is (at least in most cases) the same as Armor Penetration from traits or other sources that give Armor Penetration directly (it is possible for a trait to give Armor Penetration to only Torpedoes, or other limitations; if it is restricted in such a way, it should indicate this). The main distinction is between amounts of Starship Hull Penetration and amounts of Armor Penetration for effectiveness - a trait that gives +20 Starship Hull Penetration is one-tenth as effective as one that gives +20 Armor Penetration. I was attempting to make it clearer that there is one specific wording used for adding to the skill, and a different specific wording for doing the effect directly.
