Maximum Specialisation Points reached?

Hi All

I recently gained another spec point, and am now seeing the message 'You have reached the maximum rank, grade and have attained the maximum number of Captain Specialisation Points'. I thought that once you'd reached the maximum spendable, any extra points were supposed to convert into dilithium ore?

Cheers

K

If you used free token points then they do not count.
<example if you "eaten" any of spec points boost tokens.>

Didn't they remove the spec points for dil thing after the argala patrol debacle?

Yeah but if they don't count, i should still be receiving spec points.

If they've stopped the dilithium thing, that would make sense.

    Cheers both.

Points can be spent on your character and on your BOFF's correct? I've maxed out the two trees on my character, primary and secondary, but have an abundance of points which I can spend on BOFF's?

The last I head is that they did remove it, and then put it back in.

But bonus tokens seem to TRIBBLE up the system, or at least make it very difficult to predict whether you get something or not. (because who keeps track of his bonus spec points usage? What bonus points are counted, anyway? Giveaway, Mission replay, AdmiralityTokens?)

    Yes that.
Last i heard was that those tokens are mess. It doesn't count them so it became mess.. so you reach max but you didn't actually reached max because of tokens used

Once you get max spec points, here's what happens:

Kicking over the XP bar gives you 2880 dil.
Anything in a box that gives literally "spec point" gives you spec points that stay there, unable to be used until a new specialization comes out.
    SCM - Crystal C. (S) - [00:12] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 8.63M(713.16K) - Fed Sci

    SCM - Hive (S) - [02:31] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 30.62M(204.66K) - Fed Sci

    Tacs are overrated.

Don't know what the big issue is here. They'll probably come up with some new specialization at some point soon and you'll all fill up the tree quickly and make a profit out of selling training manuals the first day.

In other news, I think they forgot to feed the hamsters again. I was just an hour away from getting a 6th toon to level 50 so it could partake in tomorrow's event.

Think is just confusion. The gifted away spec points as well as the FE reward spec points do not seem to count for the limit of a total of 105 spec points at which point one is supposed to get Dil instead of further spec points.

I threw ever FE spec point at my Delta recruit and he is still not in line with my other chars. Since I grabbed 2 times the 2 gifted spec points we got from cryptic on my maxed out chars they currently sit on 105 points spend and 4 to spear. I don’t get any more out of regular XP for them and will pay attention if Dil is earned here instead. At the moment my Dil income is just skyrocketing cuz of admiralty in addition to my other in game activities (Doffing, PvE, events) so i didn't notice.

The confusion was due to the fact that the progress bar gave me that message, with no indication of actual progress or whether or not I'd be getting further rewards. I'd have expected to still see a progress bar, with a message something like 'Progress to next dilithium package '.

I hope you didn't grind through all that to expect Dilithium rewards for more ...

If you grinded all the spec tree, go do an alt's tree. Hey, everyone complained DR wasn't alt friendly. With Admirality, it's not as bad. Then again, these back to back XP boost weeks make the XP gains seem normal for a change.

I disagree. Too much xp gets to finishing long-term projects like Specialization too quick. This leads to "then what" and quitting the game. Players quitting = no game.

I've no problem with it either way, to be honest. Under the old system, crew experience just vanished into a black hole anyway.

This is making my head hurt...Is there really no official word on what players should be expecting with regards to excess specialization points? I maxed out all of the specializations (without trying I assure you; it is far too easy to gain levels in STO but that's a separate issue) and have continued to earn spec points each time the bar fills. I receive no messages of any kind when I ding beyond the usual. I've been trying to find a straight answer as to what should be happening but all I find is more confused players and contradictory reports.

Like most I recall reading that points earned after maxing out would be automatically converted Dil however this clearly isn't the case. I keep reading that the Dil conversion was done away with due to an 'exploit' of some kind but if there's a post out there with that info I can't find it. Sure do wish the Dev Tracker was still around...

TL;DR: I'm still earning excess Specialization Points every time I level despite having maxed all of the tress. An official word on what's going with spec points in this regard is long overdue and would be greatly appreciated.

You get excess points, you use them in the future. Answered.
