Which are the Real DPS channels?

I was playing around with the combat log reader this weekend, which I rarely ever do, and uploaded a combat log. It said I was getting invites to the DPS channels, but now I have invites to 2 sets of channels: DPS-Bronze, DPS-Silver, DPS-10,000, DPS-30.000. Why are there two sets of DPS channels, and which set is the correct one?

    1. dps drama.

    2. nether, both. they have nothing to do with cryptic so nether is anymore "real" then the other.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Long story short, drama happened between some of the admins, and one group kicked everyone out of the originally established channels (10K, etc) and formed their own (Bronze, etc). That's as far as I'll go into it.

Ultimately, the choice is yours. Look at them both, pick the one you like, and go with it.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

DPS-10,000, etc, is the real DPS channels. It's run by the founders of the league, who have been running the leagues since basically ever. DPS-Bronz/etc (aka the DPS-Metals/Pokemon) is a bunch of people who tried to stage a coup and did kick everyone out of the channels, and now have their own 'replacement' channels that will ban people over silly things like not having enough empty channel spaces to be in all of their channels.

I can't say which one is "correct." But I can say that the one that kicked everyone out and messed with their channel lists (bronze, aluminum, tinkertoy, whatever names they use) is untrustworthy, at best. Who knows if that would happen again? Something to consider.

*edit- And the SCM parser is ridiculously superior to CLR in every possible way. They really did a spectacular job with it.

As mentioned the DPS Numbers channels are the original channels. Metals were formed by a break away bunch of admins who instead of leaving and creating their own channels and explaining why they were leaving, in a act of spite kicked everyone from the numbers channels, invited them to theirs and tried to pass it off as a channel restructure.

So with people like that running the Metals channels i left them immediately out of principle and leave any cross channel teaming where those former admins are part of the team. I don't want to associate with those guys again.

Seems you are just dealing with diffrent people that disagree on how a channel should run, or who should run it.
It happens most of the time when someone makes a themed channel that grow to a certain size, and someone else disagrees on something within that channel. They sometimes dash off to make thier own channel.

Not knowing the exact reason for making another channel. I say check them both out and see which one you like the best.
One would be the "original" channel, and the other "later made" channel, neither of those statuses makes them the correct channel or the wrong channel.
To find the correct one, see what they offer you, and what you can bring to them yourself.

Edit: But looking at comments in this topic from other people, Numbers seems the better one.

I think my former poster gives the best advice you can get OP. Always keep an open mind and simply try them both out. Admins seem mature enough to let its users play in both leagues so there is not even a reason to decide.

My recent experiences here in forums tend me heavily to favour the metal league though and confirmed my gut feeling I had playing with them the past moths. So that's the "real" one for me.

What I try pointed out OP is to simply make your own experience because much of it is very subjective to each individual. I’m not very active in either leagues because my fleets can handle most of the contend just fine and I mostly resort to the metal league when we need a lobby filled because our players want to hit PvE cross faction in incomplete teams. My contribution to the metal league is to introduce it to my Armada’s members the moment I realize they get interested into the DPS topic. I know they are in good hands there.

Well, the choice really is up to you in this matter. LIke many people already said, there used to be only the 10k/30k etc channels. Then a conflict ensured about allowing Recluse-runs (those ships with their massive pet spam can have up to 5 Attack Patern Beta 3 up on a single target, which is a huge amount of damage resistance of your target simply vaporizing, often leading to your target vaporizing. Then stuff happened, channels were cleared, new ones were formed, the old ones refilled and here we are, two separate leagues.

I never stated my opinion about these events. I was not involved and can therefor not make a fair assessment of what really happened. Ofcourse I might have some gut feelings about this drama moment, but I choose not to share them or act upon them in any way.

And right now? I'm not using any DPS League. Don't get me wrong, I'm in the 30k/Silver channel with all intentions of pushing that char that brought me there to get a score of 50k. But most of the time, I keep these channels "muted" (hidden in a chat window I don't usually keep on, but then only the Fleet/Armada/Interfleet channel are usually the only ones I keep up with. I just rather fly with a 2k fleet member than a 50k person I never met before. But then, I am a fleet leader believing in the credo of "Lead by Example" and who has absolutely no problem spending time and recourses in members.

Overall? Pick neither. You got space for more than 20 custom channels, so for now, you're prety much safe playing in both. Showing activity in one channel won't lock you out of another channel, so just try both of 'em out. Most of the time you will use the channels to queue up anyway, and it doesn't really matter in which channel you queue up. And the slow days I do keep both channels on, I do see people helping with builds and such.

Like I said, personally not much experience with either of them. But honestly, I don't care that much because I hardly use the DPS channels. So just use both of them until you find a good reason to stop using one channel. Or until you run out of custom channels to join.

The real answer? Use both, so you have more choices when looking people to fill your room, don't care about the reasons. The two groups have just different ideas about something, but nothing that hurts your gameplay experience. I should advice one in particular but that's it, it's up to you, so no drama in this thread please :)

My opinion is pretty close to supergirls. I thought what the pokemon dpsers did was very petty. If they wanted to set up their own channels, their own way, and with their own rules then they should have just done that. The entire cloak and dagger kick everyone and invite them to our channel thing was just in bad form. I don't want to associate with players that would try and take something away from people just because they didn't agree with how it was run. Admittedly I don't know the whole story in detail, but even if I did I would not advocate the way they did things.
