FYI, those useless R&D mats, catalysts and accelerators sell for EC. Less EC right now since supply is high, but more EC in a month or so after the promotion ends.
If you sell your mats, you could put that EC towards a ship.
But that requires effort, so go with your plan instead.

i look at it this way if you have to have the ship then buy it on the exchange , if you dont mind taking that odd chance of getting it and would like some lobi and R&D materials then open boxes .
personally i might buy a couple of boxes for the lobi and the R&D , if i get the ship great if not ,i got what i wanted so win win . this how i go about the Lock boxes as well

When the Sheshar was released, I opened 8 boxes, got some cool stuff, but no ship.
I then used Dilithium over the course of the promotion to buy boxes and sell on the exchange, and got my ship.
I'm contemplating doing that, but to now buy the cheaper JHAS, so I can have Frigates on my Jem Dread, but not sure I'll even do that. If the Jem HEC could use the frigates I would, but oh well.

Were you trying for one because you actually like the ship or do you like its rarity?
I like my Risian Corvette. I don't care that everyone and their sibling has one with the alt discount now.
Would you feel the same about the new bug ship?
