upgrading Jem'hadar set

frontline2042frontline2042 Member Posts: 219 Arc User
2 questions :
1) can the Jem Hadar space set be upgraded through the R&D system?
2) do the set bonuses go up as I upgrade/ is it worth the bother to upgrade?

I just got a bug and was wanting to trick it out as a proper dominion ship but I'm not sure about the set's viability if I can't upgrade it in comparison to something like the kobali set.

    It certainly can, or at least the deflector can (it's the only piece of it I've upgraded so far).

    From memory, all the stats bar stealth detection increase, but the multi-piece bonii does not increase, but here's my 14 deflectors' stats for you to check:

    +2% Stealth Detection
    +30 Flow caps
    +30 Inertial dampers
    +30 Graviton gens
    +30 Counter-measures

    2pc:
    +15.4% Polaron damage
    +30.7 power insulators

    3pc:
    -4263.1 shields on 5 enemies (with 174 in flow caps)

    Victory is life:

    Wouldnt AP weaponry still outperform polaron weaponry ? Even considering the jem'hadar set bonus for +Polaron Dmg ?

    If you're going to put polaron weapons on the new or old bug ship, I'd suggest getting some crtDx3 or x4 weapons at the very least.

    Ap provides a minor boost with its native CrtD boost. Polarons can be helpful if they proc and drain a chunk from an enemy's weapons power bank, or shields, even.

    The polaron bonus does not scale. When the upgrades were unleashed, they bumped the stock JH "free" set to the paid Mk XII set's bonus levels. However, don't believe that hogwash posted. Actual tests I did in sector space with and without +pol consoles yielded about 2-3% improvement using the set bonus. Don't feel like you absolutely have to run JH if you want to run polarons. You can get more from an AMP core, and other set bonuses as well.

    Hey, it's better than nothing, but it's not a massive improvement.

    [Edit: the hogwash isn't shandypandy's, I meant cryptic's hogwash and their funky math used to compute damage /Edit]

    Uh, you can run the JH set WITH an [Amp] core, since the set doesn't have a warp core at all. :P

    Also... don't trust weapon tooltips in sector space. Check them in a regular space map.

    Good point. But I've heard they are working on cores for all sets.

    Polarons tend to shine when your flow caps are high. The drain scales up pretty nicely on drain boats.

    1.) yes

    Deflectors
    * Epic - [SS/SI] (10 Shield System & 10 Structural Integrity)
    Impulse Engines
    * Epic - [Drv2] (20 Driver Coil)
    Ship Shields
    * Epic - [Cp/Rg] (Shield Strength & Regen)

    Wow. The upgrades for the Deflector and engines will be almost unnoticeable. What a ripoff.
