Male Characters Can Open Female-Only Outfit Boxes

Last night, I purchased all the Winter Jackets on my male character, Eldridge@executiveone. This included the cropped jackets that, it turns out, are for female characters only. (Granted, I should have read the description, but people should also be able to buy unbound things they can't use to sell on the Exchange, give to friends, donate to Fleets, &c. There should probably be a supplemental prompt in such cases, but fair enough. Mea culpa.)

But STO let me unpack the female-only Cropped Winter Jackets on my male character, so they're gone. And since they aren't account unlocks (as far as I can tell), there's no chance I'll ever be able to use them on a female toon.

Submitted as bug report 2,952,302. There's also a GM ticket out there, but I'm not sanguine about the chances of getting my outfit boxes back.
