Thank You Cryptic!

In light of all the negative posts I have seen, I wanted to remind myself (and others) that the developers are also people. People working long hours to keep this game running, to provide new content, and to make an enjoyable experience for everyone who plays.

Sometimes we get frustrated because a patch changed the game in a way we did not like. Sometimes we get upset because a game play bug made it difficult to enjoy the game.

But at the end of the day, all I really know is that I really like this game. I like the space combat. I like the ground missions. I like the different ships and how a different ship will completely change my play style. I like the flexibility in creating my own alien species. I like the animations and the visual presentation of this game. I like how easy it is to pick up and play, and the surprising level of depth this game provides.

So again, thank you . Nicely done!

I agree but only to a point. What got people so upset was the change with no heads up and with very little thought on the effect that such a change would make.

Devs do a great job here, but they need to take a little more time before just shoving things in our faces.

    Well said, haldan.

I would just like to add:

Trekkies want perfection when it comes to Star Trek, you mess something up they rage.
Gamers want perfection when it comes their games, you mess something up they rage.

Trekkies + Gamers != good combination for devs

Although when you factor in a great game, you get an EXTREMELY satisfied community. I would say that the majority of the time, Cryptic has a satisfied community.

Yeah ... There are things you need to work on but that's true of most things ... is it not?

I love playing the game and it says something that I enjoy doing that on a daily basis.

    Thank you! :)

I get angry about this game a lot, but that's because I like it a lot. If I didn't enjoy it, didn't feel a strong attachment to it, I wouldn't care enough to get angry at it.

So yes, thank you for making a game I deeply care about. In the world of MMOs (especially F2P MMOs), that's rare.

I totally agree with "Thank you for making a game that I deeply care about."

But otherwise, I would say that I get frustrated, not angry. Which is why I'm glad that I can click on "skip" on certain episodes. Especially those that turn out to be really really hard for someone as near-sighted as I am and with depth-perception problems like I have (shuttle-sized ships that are really hard to see where they are in relation to the inside of the Vault or dipping in and around DS9's exterior). I wish there were optional (not easier) missions/episodes for folks like me. And I wish that some Foundry missions hadn't been "improved" to make them more difficult. Not all of us are elite-level players. I'm a normal-level player myself and that's hard enough for me. Maybe someday I'll see what elite-level is like, but not yet. I want to enjoy the game, not be overwhelmed by it to the point I permanently give up on it.

I'm also glad the website and related websites like STO Wiki and STO Academy are up and running during the times when I can't log on to the game itself (like yesterday and today, for instance). Learning alot of things about STO that I haven't known since starting as an STO user last September (I've been a Star Trek fan since I was a kid in the 1970s, but never an MMORPG user before last year). In the meantime, I have to remind myself to be patient: I will be back in the game once the technical issues have been taken care of and I will be just as addicted to the game as ever. I also keep wishing the "galaxy" in the game were twice as large or ten times as large. More patience. The "galaxy" will keep growing. Just not as fast as I wish it could.

Sorry for all the babbling. It's what happens when I think aloud.

I will thank them when they finally fix Galaxy and do it a proper justice...until then. :P

Agreed, cryptic does a good job.

Thanks for tolerating all the random bad behavior and hate. :/ I'm embarassed by some of the aweful things ppl say on the forums...

I've not see an mmo game developer that was SO responsive to its community.

Thanks for making our star trek world possible!

Cryptic does a great job. I'm continually amazed at the fact that a smaller company like them can pull off an MMO with 2 million players. General consensus among the game Dev community (at least the ones I lurk on) is that you need to be a huge company to make any kind of mmo, and cryptic has proven otherwise.

And also, I think one of the reasons people get mad about bugs etc. Is the fact that they care about the game. If they hated the game they wouldn't play it. The fact that they're still here, even if they're complaining very vocally, shows that they want to see the game become the best that it can be. There's been patches and bugs that have gotten me frustrated, but I still come back to the fact that I love this game, even if invisible Borg torpedoes kill me instantly without warning :P

OK, I'll jump on the band-wagon...

Thank you for quickly fixing the Kumari healing issue... likewise for fixing TDD's and BioNeurals.

I also noticed that the BOFF station sticky-bug also seems to be gone! Big props to ya :)

QA is like the tail on a donkey. Sometimes they get no warning before be s*** on with too much work and too little time. As we don't know their internal processes, best not to single out any one group.

With the preamble out of the way....

Most of the game works most of the time, so thanks for all the hard work! I'm looking forward to this year's new features, stable servers and always available STO forums! :)

The game is awesome, The devs are good. But I think that their priorities are a bit messed up, When it comes to adding content, Or fixing bugs.

Here here! Thanks for all you folks do to keep us flyin' and fightin'.

I am impressed with how the game has grown since launch and especially since F2P (which is usually a death knell for an MMO).

With all the trials and tribulations (tribblations?) this game has gone though, from Perpetual to Atari and eventually PWE, with all the shakeups and shakedowns, you have developed a fun and engaging game that is the best free to play model I've ever seen.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

Thanks Cryptic for making the only MMO that I really enjoy playing! :)
As a fan of Star Trek this game is something I always wanted. Regardless that I might not agree with you on certain decisions and directions in game, I undesrtand that you're doing your best to keep STO allive and further develop it and I appreciate that.
I always have so much fun playing STO and have enjoyed it since I started playing. There are so many aspects from which you can play the game and this is a trait that I really like. You did an amazing job with that particular section of STO.
All round it is a great game, IMHO much better than other MMOs out there and I think that you're doing a good job with the resources you have availible.

So, kudos devs., keep up the good work! ;)

P.S. Thank you for making the Andorian escorts so darned cool! :P I haven't been so excited about a ship in quite some time. I usually play sci. & KDF, but I just had to roll out a Fed. tac.captain. :D And a special BIG thanks to the people that designed the ships! They rock inside & outside!
