No Quest Reward Received

I just completed the quest which gives you your second officer as one of the rewards; it was a space mission to destroy 4 opposing ships, I forget what race they were, but it's one of the first few missions you do once you get to earth's space station. I don't know whether it gave me my other rewards or not, but it did NOT give me my officer. The game says you go to your inventory and double click the officer requisition, but there is none. I've hailed the guy in communication in space again at earth sector, and again in space sector, and that quest was completed, as it doesn't show up anymore. I chose my officer when I completed it, yet I never received it!!! I won't be playing this game anymore until you give me the officer I earned, and I certainly won't buy it if you don't give it to me.
