Turn in mission via hail, no reward?

Every time I turn in a mission to the admiral via hail, I choose the item reward that I want and click accept. Check inventory and nothing has appeared. Is this normal?
The first time it happened it was for one of the Bridge Officers, so I spent a long while running around the earth station trying to find where they might be hiding her, but never did find. (no she never appeared on the U menu)
It's happened a couple of times since then as well, with bits of equipment. It's a bit annoying to have to return to Sol to pick up a piece of equipment because it wont reach me if I tell them to transport it to me.
What's going on? Is it normal, a sort of "well if you're too lazy to come get it, you're not having!" approach to rewards? Or just bugging for me?

Since I choosed to cancel the comlink with Sulu as far as I remember and I got nevertheless the rewardpoints but no BO. :eek:
