Cryptic Studios is Developing Star Trek Online! (July 28, 2008)

CRYPTIC STUDIOS LICENSES RIGHTS TO PRODUCE STAR TREK ONLINE

Trek Fans Worldwide Are Invited to MMO Gamplay Reveal at Annual Star Trek Convention August 10, 2008 or Via Live Webcast at www.startrekonline.com

Los Gatos, Calif. – Cryptic Studios™, a leading developer and publisher of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs), announced today that it has secured the global rights to develop and publish Star Trek® Online, a massively multiplayer online game based on the legendary Star Trek franchise, from CBS Consumer Products.

Cryptic will unveil the first Star Trek Online gameplay footage as well as details about this highly anticipated MMO at the annual Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas on Sunday, August 10, 2008. Trek fans from around the globe can also view the event live via webcast at www.startrekonline.com.

Interested participants can register today for the Star Trek Online webcast and to sign up for the STO community by visiting www.startrekonline.com.

    I'm so glad to hear that Cryptic has taken up the reins on STO. You guys are amazing and I can't wait to see what you do with this game. :)

    I hope we get to be as many races or more as were promised from Perpetual, would love to play a Klingon and then jump on a Romulan.

    ST:O fans have been waiting for a long time for this game. I have only heard good things about Cryptic, so I hope you can bring an experience that we all can enjoy... no pressure :P

    Yay for Star Trek Online being risen from the dead, I've been waiting for the crytic studios countdown to end for ages and pretty much knew it was gonna be this, but I can't help but still be really excited for this project :) go cryptic! <3

    Hehe I'm amazed there's anyone that's surprised :p.

    It was official as soon as that ticker went up with an art asset from Perpetual Entertainments screenshot archive of their STO work.

    For ship interior views and ship screenshots just Google STO images and you'll find even more stuff they haven't shown on here.

    They had already revealed about 4 interior images atleast one "starter ship" image and the exterior of an Akira-Class ship.

    Thank god its comeing out. Anything else would be stupid. Theres alot of people around the world just waiting to throw cash in this direction. But also ALOT of pressure. This game either becomes legendary or a major dissapointment.

    Glad someone picked up the game after Perpetual went belly up. Please dont mess this game up!! A lot of us have been looking forward to this game for a very very long time!
