The Dominion needs some love

richyrich1991richyrich1991 Member Posts: 139 Arc User
As the Dominion are my favorite faction from the shows (closely followed by the Romulans & Terrans) Victory is Life was; for me, the best expansion we've had since Legacy of Romulus but there are things that (again, for me) still seem missing.

#1 Dominion HQ, I know the expansion was about DS9 and we got the new model for the station; which is beautiful btw, but every faction has a base on a planet and a space station (or flotilla for the Romulans). The Jem'Hadar have cupboard on someone else's space station, it just feels wrong that the Dominions base of operations is smaller than Quarks bar.
I'm sure this was all due a time restraint on the devs and I understand that but they could have reused assets to save time, hell I'd be happy with turning this place from the tutorial into a base:
JBoxxbx.jpg

#2 Kar'takin, the Jem'Hadar axe/polearm isn't in the game as far as i'm aware, the NPC Jem'Hadar have always used them when you're fighting them in missions, even pre-ViL. I know melee weapons aren't the best weapons but there are lots of players who use them regardless.

#3 Gamma Quadrant Battlezone, this obviously isn't missing but could do with an overhaul. A quadrant sized battlezone was an ambitious idea but honestly it feels empty, the battles/mini-missions are great, like multiplayer patrol missions but there's nothing distinctly "Gamma Quadrant" here, I think it would benefit greatly from a ground battlezone too; maybe on Karemma?
Karemma_Ground.jpg?version=b2f1887593f039f3fe38ed2edbfc144a

#4 Lifetime Subsciber gear, I've heard that this is in the works already so fingers crossed but yeah, there's no veteran gear for Dominion players and they could really do with it.

Edit: I forgot this as it's more of a cosmetic thing but can we have the option to disable the Alpha & Beta icons above our wingmen, it's a tad distracting lol

I wish they would add patrol missions to Gamma even if they are outdated content, I would like to be able to explore some more of the worlds from the shows even for a menial task.

I'd love to have a kar'takin for my Jemmie, too.

I'd have to agree on the Kar'tarkin. We already have the Vet Destroyer in the works. And... I think having a ground battlezone for Gamma Rep would be nice. The space one... its pretty much a mess as all you're doing is basically a quadrant specific queue.

I guess only the T6 version and not the T5 like the other Factions. However, since the T6 now scales there really isn't a need for the T5 except for an additional Admiralty Card.

Count me in for a Kar'tarkin. My Jemmie needs it. We have swords, bat'leths and lirpas, why not a kar'tarkin?
Now a LTS and loving it.

Probably the need to program in new melee animations for a polearm that doesn't have a usable weapon on the other end like a Lirpa. If you pay attention to NPC Jem'Hadar that pull out the Kar'tarkin, they only have one swing animation.

There is a polearm like that in ViL already. I had actually (mis)remembered it being a Kar'tarkin, but apparently it's not.

I hope one day we see more expansion in both Gamma and Delta Quadrants. So far in Delta we've been restricted pretty much to the corridor the Voyager followed, because we're mostly cleaning up their mess, and in Gamma it's mostly Dominion space, but we're talking about an entire quarter of a galaxy here, half a galaxy put together - there's got to be more out there than that!

I believe it still uses the Lirpa animations though.

The full GQ map is around 14,000Ly wide, and 9,000LY tall, and the only major power is the Dominion. The Dominion's border goes to the map's edges, so their area of influence is largely even greater.
Meanwhile, 1/4 of the Milky Way galaxy, or a "quadrant", would be a slice 150,000 ly deep, with a thickness ranging from 16,000 ly near the core to perhaps only a few dozen ly near the edge, and an outer curved side about 75,000 ly long. The volume is left as an exercise for the alert student, mostly because I have other things I need to do this evening. Suffice it to say, the available volume dwarfs anything we've been presented with so far. The Dominion seems to own everything in GQ, because they're the ones who made the maps.

Lifetime subscription most definitely needs to show some love to The Dominion. Even though we have the vanguard starter pack and bundle in the store... a few ship tokens for t5 and t6 would be nice then we top it off with free upgrades on select t5 ships... wallah we have a happy Dominion (if that's even possible)

You mean 50,000 LY deep? The Milky Way is 100,000LY wide, not 300,000.
150–200 kly says wikipedia. But nevermind that, the game isn't even meant to depict the entire galaxy, just the plot-relevant parts.

For all the stick delta grinding got for the patrol missions being put in to try and prop up the lack of content on release it did mean that there is still something to go and do within that map. Something remotely close to gameplay is better than the current thumb twiddling while you wait for others since the gamma quadrant apparently has enough to do that the waiting zone wasn't opened up as a solo option. Unless its been changed you can't even travel to queue up each of the areas you can only pick one and get bored waiting. A battlezone suggests conflict happening but its closer to the downtime between chess moves than proper combat.

Story had potential for some interesting followups such as our friendly jem hadar realising that changlings aren't gods and starting a freedom movement. But they killed them off and brushed it under the carpet.
