Which Specialization tends to pair best with each class?

kellmg96#5851 kellmg96 Member Posts: 858 Arc User
Im trying to figure out which specialization would pair the best with each type of class. I figure Comm with Tact, and Miracle goes with Eng,
But what about the rest, are some split down the middle.

Also think Cryptic will ever let us train BOFFs to be constables, commando, or strats? Or will that stay Captain only?
I redact NOTHING

the captain profession doesnt matter for that. its more build related.

for energy weapon builds you will use the intel+strategist route
for epg builds you want to add temporal, mainly for the +50 epg

Like felisean said, profession does not matter in the slightest. Usually it depends on your ship and overall build, like it was said above; energy weapons intel/strategist or Miracle/Strategist, Temporal for science/epg oriented builds coupled with either strategist or constable (really depends on the content you wanna play therer) etc.

Intel is usually considered the main spec with Miracle worker closely behind it when it comes to most builds you'll find online since they add a ton of versatility and most importantly, buffs. The rest, is sadly kind of neglectable since they don't even compare to what builds need. There are specific "race-builds" for speed that could potenitally make use of pilot, but where do you apply those?

Just wanted to add the bit with miracle worker here, everything else has already been answered. When making a decition regarding your build, always check what that build actually needs, and not your chosen class.

I'm not an expert on this by any means, only been here for a year, but to me the specialisation ought to match what you want to do in the game. Depending on which ship I want to fly and what I want to do with it, I slot a different specialisation. I think of specialisations as balancing out any skills my science captain lacks (if I go solo) or fine-tuning strengths I already have if I am with a team.
As others have already said, this includes what weapons are used and your preferred way of dealing damage. Another thing to consider is to look at your ship, traits, your duty officers and bridge officers and combine things that work together.

Example - if I want to primarily heal and support the team, I'll use my science ship, run Miracle Worker as first for the critical heal ability and other healing related benefits. The secondary specialisation is usually Strategist, but there might be more useful ones to aid healing and defense.

On the contrary, if I want to primarily sneak up on things and drop death from above, I use my intel warbird and run Intelligence Officer as first, for the space flanking. Strategist is second for the pacifying ability. My science captain will always bring healing skills into the mix, though, making this build far less deadly than it would be with a tactical captain. But it is fun to fly.

TLDR; the best specialisation is the one that matches your ship, your style of play/weapons, and your traits/boffs/doffs.

Temporal pairs well with a Megawell build.

    The typical mix and matches:
    Tactical - Intel+Strategist (Space), Intel+Commando (Ground), Pilot+Constable (Duel/PvP space)
    Engineering - Intel+Strategist (Space pure dps), MiracleWorker+Strategist (Space dps/heal/tank), MiracleWorker+Commando (Ground)
    Science - Temporal+Strategist (Space exotic), Temporal+Commando (Ground).

You can mix and match, but these are the most cookie-cutting combinations.

for ground you want temporal+commando normaly because of the additional kperf from temporal and commando.. yea thats just awesome for ground.
or maybe if you want to be more a ground supporter, intel primary + temporal secondary

Doesn that kperf upset the Intel buff and the flanking bonuses on ground as well as the -resists proc from the intel speci?
