Phoenix Prize Pack

This is just an idea.
I've spent roughly 3/4million Dillithium say within a year buying these trying to optain a epic token, and over say roughly 600ish only 2 ultra rare. and a nice 400ish uncommen 100 rare and 70 vrare which is nice for tech upgrades which i can always use, i mean i know its gambling but also feels like robbery :\ this is the the IDEA that this game should have which would please many ---> Either for Events Allow us to Pick the event ship instead of always making it the new ship that is for the Year or maybe create a new event to bring back old ships :|, u guys do tend to bring back old stuff once in a blue moon, this would be 1 of the best idea's :\ instead of making event ships extinct for new comers. and or having to gamble their hard earned work/$$$ and time.
BTW This wasn't Purchased on this Account as this has most event ships dated since 2015. when i started. but on My f2p acc that i started playing middle of 2017. which missed the jan/feb Lukari Ho'kuun Science Vessel 7th Anniversary Prize Voucher in 2017
Now i am confused cause on the webiste it said it was free for the 8th year event in 2018, but in march, which i played all threw that and got all the rewards. didn't recall that being on the list.

The Phoenix Box IS the event to allow players to acquire old ships, and it was brought in specifically to allow people to do this. They are not going to change it now. The exclusivity of these 'time-limited' ships is something I've always liked and agree they should be limited. Even with starting an account on console this year, I still agree with it, despite not having access to older ships.

And a 'guaranteed prize' is far better than risking resources for the chance to win nothing.

The odds of getting Epic from a Phoenix Box are frankly.. unreasonably low.

I understand why Lockbox and RnD ships have a low drop rate.. they want you to keep spending money. I suppose it's the same with the Phoenix tokens, but this was supposed to be the system for those that missed events and wanted to obtain the rewards later.

Lock Box/R&D ships are supposed to be rare.. prized.. hard to get, that's fine. It seems that the Phoenix rewards though shouldn't be nearly as rare as the 'Grand Prize' ships, but I think the odds are actually worse in Phoenix then anything else in the game and it makes no sense at all. I won't say that Epics should drop like rain, but someone that missed an event should have a realistic chance to get a missed event ship and right now they don't.

I am lucky, I have all the event ships so I have never needed to go for an epic. Still, I have opened hundreds and hundreds of boxes over the last year and never seen an Epic.. that's pretty crazy. In fact, in all those times, I have only seen an UR once. It's a good thing I don't need these things.

Lock Box and Promotional ships are designed to generate money.. that's cool. Phoenix Boxes should be a resource sink and nothing more. The odds on Epic Tokens need serious adjustment. Unfortunately, I see almost no chance that Cryptic ever actually address this and that's a shame.

I could care less about getting the ship. I just want the upgrades and then I can blow some stuff up with my new upgraded weapons.

I'd be ok with the odds staying as they are, if they implemented a trade up option along with the trade down. I'd say, maybe, 5-1 trade in to get the next tier up token. That way, it's still a resource sink, but regardless of outcome, a player could eventually acquire the ship(s) they want.

I would not mind them adding in more rewards maybe even tardigrades, more emotes maybe as another means of getting instead of just the summer event and anniversary events. The Kobali hood, that didn't come with the outfit as far as I know.
Other outfits that were in featured episodes but are no longer available. Worfs Federation Klingon Sash piece. So much stuff they can add into the boxes, to give more players a reason to go get them.

a trade up would be something that they def could do, and if by trading up costing much more then trading down, like very rare to rare is 2x then rare to uncommon is 2x, well try uncommon to rare is 5x and rare to very rare is 10x and soforth for ultra rare and like 3 ultra-rare to an epic token, would be reasonable value. and maybe even tweak the lower quality even more, but its 1 event ship per char on the account which that was missed. which if u spend as much as some have and not obtained 1! like myself would be nice to get 1... eventually

I've opened 1000 Phoenix packs and have gotten 2 ultra rares, 0 epics. All I want is a single Nandi, and I can't even shop on the exchange, like I could for lobi and lockbox ships.

This entire thing was talked about in a different thread and in short the ideals were, upgrades, let people slot past event ships and earn them like before, and last change the drop rates.

As to what to place in the boxes was also ran over and yes lots of options to place in the box but people chimed in no change needed and that there exclusives would be lost if this happened.

So i don't expect any change to happen regardless of logic in it.

The other idea was letting people sell Epic tokens on the Exchange for EC.

I have all the Epic ships that I want, so I'm sitting on a couple of tokens that I might never use. I'd love to trade one for enough EC for a lobi or lock box ship.

For those who want an epic, based on everything I've read from people trying for them I agree the odds are a little too high for a single-character unlock. They appear to be in the 1:500 - 1:1000 range, where opening 1,000 boxes only gives you a 66% chance of getting an Epic.

A trade up system would be nice. Allowing the Epics to be traded/sold would help.. but given the odds of getting an Epic, they would be pretty expensive on the exchange.

Either way, I really don't think Cryptic is going to offer any help here. The only thing they love more then gamble boxes are slim odds of winning.

As much as I hate to say it, they should add yet another currency to the game - like lobi, but only for phoenix packs. Call it phoenix feathers. Every pack you open you get one (in addition to the usual random token), and you can use it to buy a ship eventually when you get enough. Like a T6 ship is 500 phoenix feathers, T5 is 250.

After 200 more phoenix packs, I am closing in on 2000. I did get one epic last year, but have not gotten any ultra rares.

It would definitely help but predicting the exchange price is pretty tough to do. What percentage of players already own X ship account wide? This is difficult to say but whatever it is will definitely affect the price. Just for fun, let's look at lobi ships. It takes about 200 master keys or so to produce enough lobi to buy a 900 lobi ship. At that price, you're looking at over 800 million EC worth of keys. The laws of supply and demand have determined that lobi ship prices start around 200-205 million these days though so I don't know how we could predict what unbound ships from epic tokens would sell for.

Agreed though they could give just a little ground and make epic token ships sellable without really affecting the economy while boosting their bottom line and helping players. Everybody wins.
