Seeing as this is a MIRROR variant... we could still see a prime universe variant later on.

Well ... throw the prime in a lockbox then.

'Prime' variants from Disco's probably going to be in a bundle, perhaps with the second season.

Is the class name acutually spelled E,N,G,L,E or is it supposed to be Eagle-class?
More than likely Engle, as a reference to Joe Engle who flight tested the shuttles Enterprise and Columbia and was the commander of one of Discovery's missions.

Looks like the infinity box is either no longer going to be for reruns of the old box ships.

Or they didn't have time for cross faction variant (singular because noone cares about the romulans anymore) before the next gamblebox arrives.

Or money is still tight from overspending on the voice work for victory is loading and the R&D box isn't generating as much as they hoped.

Main concern is they may have poked the droprates for the infinity box and added more padding than usual to bring it into line with the regulars and dropping the value accordingly.

Mmm, I'm not so sure about that. Cryptic's said that the ships from DSC will be released through a variety of means and we haven't heard a big pack confirmed apart from the incoming multi-faction offerings following the anniversary. I wouldn't expect an DR/AOY/VIL scale bundle to just suddenly drop in the midst of the age of discovery which is intended to provide a similar volume of content over the course of its full run.

Probably because it's the Mirror Eagle and they'll release an inferior Prime Eagle later.

But they've established with the Walker that they see a 1:1 c-store version of a premium T6 ship to be a problem. The Engle co-opts the mechanic the c-store Walker used to make it to game. They could release an inferior version of that (an Engle that only scales up to T4, following Walker example) but I think that's exasperating the issue folks will have of wanting a particular DSC ship, being able to justify that for the c-store because it's not particularly special in universe (the reason we've always been given for why certain ships are lock box/lobi/promo), but then having Cryptic throw a mirror label on so they can use the ships they have available (lots of KDF and FED ATM) to fill their necessary box drops. Cryptic could just ignore that though and make a T6 c-store version regardless (minus scaling, very different layout [ex. full carrier]), but then those who bought into the mirror Engle to have the Engle may feel cheated for whatever they paid over the standard c-store price (and only getting a per-character ship out of the deal and no 2409 skin.)

It's a messy situation with problems either way and I think for the sake of players being able to make the right decision for them (either way) this needs clarification on ten forward (ie. will there be a prime Engle and what tier will it be?)

The Infinibox isn't a terribly surprising place for them to stick a ship they want to push out as a gamblebox ship, but don't want to or can't build a full box around.

Agree, it is a good safety-net device for such types. It'll be for the "space rich whales" & the gambling addicts to fill-in the Cryptic coffers.

As it is a stand-alone ship I would've considered buying from the C-Store despite no similar ship/console tie-ins had it been made possible. If it had been sold in the C-Store as part of a faction bundle then absolutely considered. Maybe since the Winter Event ship, S'torr, allows KDF, Rom, & Dom players to pilot Cryptic was lazy to include Fed counterparts for this Engle ship.

As more gambling loot though no thank you since it doesn't matter when I lose with 10 ships on a loot list versus losing with 10+ ships on a possible loot list.

At least they added the new Terran emblem on the ship with this new one instead of leaving it with the default Federation of planets logo. But I still gutted after all this time of people asking for terran barbie content that they restricted it on only one lobi ship.

This doesnt make any sense to me. why would they release a fully scaling star ship, and then put it in a lock box, that means its character bound right? Can only use it to level once?? WTH is the point? I want a fully scaling zen ship. I bet it would be one your biggest sellers. *walks away dumbfounded*

Haven't you heard? Most new products, IRL AND MMOs, go through extensive testing, trials and reviews, in order to perfect/fine-tune the product to ensure, or at least to optimize, its success.
The Prototype Light Cruiser (T1-T4 Walker) was an early test that appears to be a success.
The Mirror Engle is a fairly impressive next step.
Most likely if the Mirror Engle is received well, that the Prime Engle will be in the C-store soon.
If the Scaling T6 model is a success, we will likely see more of them, in LBs, Events & the C-store.
Which means the TOS/TMP fanboys' & girls' dreams of a Scaling Connie are that much closer to actually happening!

Okay so there was clarification from Ten Forward. Cryptic originally started out with this as the prime Engle but opted for MU to stay in keeping with previous lock box releases (specifically: T5 mirror) and to indeed leave the door open for a future prime-universe Engle. That ship may eventually be released but from the language used on stream I wouldn't anticipate that coming soon (sounds like there's no definite plans yet.)

So if you want to fly an Engle across multiple characters: wait, there may be a more accessible option coming later and occasionally poking Cryptic about it would help keep it on their radar. That will not (in all likelihood) have anything resembling this build though since it is themed to a pain-inflicting MU ethos (eng/sci support carrier would seem the natural compliment.) If you want the traits, console, scaling, and layout: this is the ship for you.

As for making older end-game ships scale: conversations are ongoing and they're still trying to work out whether it's technically feasible to retroactively implement. The answer will likely depend on that investigation.

Unfortunately they gave a direct "no" to that on stream. :(

But they might get in the habit of adding more of these to the infinity box. Which means...more MU customization options in Foundry [I saw they added all the DSC fed ships before the editor was taken offline again. When we get that back the Engle should have everything the MU version has.])

You mean like releasing a T6 Nova, a T6 Vo'quv/Karfi, T6 Ha'nom/Ha'feh? What about T6 Voth ships or T6 Tholian ships? T6 Undine ships? T6 Hirogen ships? Other T6 MU returns? All the poking, asking, pleading, begging has netted the long suffering Nova fans what, over how many years? Or an actual T6 carrier for KDF/Rom that isn't gated behind a gamblebox?

Speculating on future lock boxes and/or gamble packs in general would be better served by a new thread dedicated to that topic. U.S. & EU are both investigating MMOs & Card Games, and how laws might impact those activities.
The systems STO/Cryptic/PWE presently use may not be 100% perfect, fair or popular (again debates for other dedicated threads) but they are systems that work, and a fair chunk of the player base has been satisfied with it.
IF Cryptic/PWE and others are forced to take the gamble-factor out, then the lock boxes will either change to fit the new laws or be rolled into something new.

What is a huge step is, this ship skips the 'Lock Box X' to kick off the next 'Infinity Lock Box'. Which as I understand it, makes the odds of getting this (or any of the other ships) that much better.
And to Cryptic, for doing a good thing for us fans/players, I say Thank You!
Thank you for making things a little easier for us.
Thank you for proactively taking a step in the right direction.

While this ship isn't at the top of my list, I would still like to try it out. So who knows? I might get it (one way or another) down the line. I do like its design. While I prefer Warships over pure Escorts, the more I look this beast over the more I find myself wanting one. Or two...
As for New Ships Players will Pay Money For or participate in Events For? We should continue to engage in civil discourse, with our peers and the Cryptic Team alike, in threads like this one. Positive and informative feedback is always more effective than negative or none at all.

I mean, the Verne class springs to mind as one example; whilst it may basically be a T6 Wells, the fact is they obviously didn't want to build another temporal lock box around the Verne class and therefore pushed it out as an infinibox purchase incentive.

T6 versions of old T5 lock box ships had been added for some time. After those boxes had their opening run on consoles (with T6 ship) it was a handy way of updating the PC without going through and re-running each box in turn (something the infinity box effectively does anyway, but with a lot more flexibility between them.)

*Remembers the old Mirror Versions of ships offered in earlier lockboxes*
Hmm, the only difference from the lower-tiered Mirror ships, this T6 Mirror ship doesn't have a 'Prime' version available beforehand.

IMO with Cryptic going on the record to say that they didn't intend for this ship to take the place of a c-store version now and forever (a la lobi walker and c-store walker) I think the only major point of concern is just timing. 3 DSC-era end-game ships are lock box/lobi, only 1 is c-store. That's not a great balance for the design of the faction since it applies a very direct pressure for folks to pony up in extremus for an appropriately themed ship, settle for the Nimitz (which is a good ship but not one-size-fits-all), or give up on the DSC theme until there are more accessible DSC escorts and science vessels (ie. basic build choices which are being heavily monetized at this moment within the DSC theme.) Hopefully that gets addressed soon with more c-store releases.

How are KDF-Aligned Romulans to unlock the starship trait "Superior Area Denial? Can they unbox it despite it saying (Klingon)? Fed-aligned Romulans have no problem since the ship is "Faction: Federation and Federation-aligned." Clarification required, please.

My only question is this: Are you going to release any more Romulan ships ? Because it seems to me that you will just keep releasing this Fed/Disco ships and just ignore the other factions.Maybe a KDF ship ,once in a while , but the new policy seems to be play fed or go home. You can ban my question it wouldn't be the first time , but i would really like an honest answer.Because this kind of inconsistency in the game , discourage new players and alienates older players.
They already answered this question like 6 times, both on Reddit and here, yes, there will be more Romulan ships.
True but the last Romulan faction ships released in the c-store happen to be the Dewan Pilot Escorts which were released 10 months ago and they aren't even Romulan ships. The last actual Romulan ships were released in the c-store in October of 2017 a full 14 months ago. So while the devs have given their answer, you should see why some people are concerned. Right now, their answer will seem to be a complete lie in the opinion of many players.

If folks are going to jump to the conclusion that the devs are waging a conspiracy against warbirds and that their assertion that more are coming (probably after the anniversary, none-too-subtle wink) are lies then the responsibility for that illogical leap is entirely on them, not the devs.

I'm haven't talked about any conspiracy and I don't believe that the devs don't like Romulans. So let's avoid straw mans from now on. I also personally don't mind if they never release another Romulan ship ever again as I'm a Cardassian/Dominon/Klingon fan more or less. All I'm saying is 14 months of zero new Romulan ships is how I can see why Romulan fans would be concerned and why many of them don't believe the devs.

      Seeing is believing after all.

I'm haven't talked about any conspiracy and I don't believe that the devs don't like Romulans. So let's avoid straw mans from now on.

See. lie, presenting a deliberate falsehood. Enter, conspiracy to maintain that lie over time and orchestrate that across the studio. Its a direct implication of your post, even if you didn't consider it yourself when making it (there's a lesson there about the directions to consider in trying to find rhetorical support. This is not one of them.)

You made a bad point, don't feel obligate to defend it irrespective of the original intent of your post (ie. we could use more warbirds, which is simply enough stated without trying to speak on the behalf of other people and imagining what their reactions might be) or the topic of this thread (mirror universe escort carrier).
