Well, today's patch notes include this:
    • The critical severity of Enemy ships on Normal difficulty has been reduced from 100% to 50%.

So there you go - the NPC's had 100% Critical severity in 'Normal' level content.

Great.. so next time I will only take 125k instead of 250k.. that's great!

Seriously though, good to see the issue addressed.

They've also said they will keep monitoring it, so you guys that play on normal should keep updating this thread as obviously they are reading it.

The only place I have seen it is the Tholian Red Alert. Is that considered normal difficulty? It should be right?

Any word yet from STO. Dev's or anyone else on why this is happening? I pointed out in an earlier posting that this kind of damage is ridiculus on Normal Pve's, it just doesn't need to happen. Tholian Red alert is not the only quene that I have experienced this in. Counterpoint, Tzenkethi Red Alert, Fleet Alert etc. Something has to be done about this. I am this close "=" (And notice the spacing between the equals) to walking out on the game. Cryptic has something to answer for.

It was apparently a bug that they fixed with today's patch. No need to walk out, or threaten to.

According to the patch notes, what they did was halve CritD of mobs on normal difficulty. I doubt that's going to fix the problem.

Thank you for the over reaction of the year.

It's a minor problem, at best, and they don't owe you anything. They're working on it, calm down.

Oh, okay. Well we'll see how it works. I'm sure we'll have some info coming in soon enough from those who play those things regularly :)

I've noticed it happens alot on the weekends. For example, during Monday-Thursday I will never be killed by the borg. On Friday-Sunday, my ship gets blown up every 5 minutes.
One day Cryptic will be free from their Perfect World overlord. Until that day comes, they will continue to pamper the whales of this game, and ignore everyone that isn't a whale.

    Wait..what?

Are you really implying that the game somehow is harder on weekends?

Well we have this term called “Sunday pugs”. Don’t want to discriminate but there seem to be a lot players around which only play at weekends and simply being not so good at it than the average who plays more regular. I suppose is possible that ataloss find himself more often in matches with weaker teammates at weekends pulling more aggro as result?

The alternative is that the Borg have also the concept of days and weeks and for some reason work overtime on Saturdays and Sundays. :#

Yeah...despite yesterdays patch, NPC warp core breaches are still doing in excess of 150k in damage, whereas my OWN breaches don't do jack TRIBBLE...just pushes the enemy out of the way and MAYBE does some minute damage to their shields. TBR still doing ridiculous amounts of damage...in excess of 10k per "pulse" or whatever.

This is definitely true, Warp Core Breach damage is off the charts. It's been like that for a while, but for some reason feels worse then ever right now. They do an insane amount of damage.

The more I think about this the more I starting to edge towards the NPC dmg increase is by design and intent that with implementation has failed.

Now I've seen some people else where that its because the game wasn't designed for the recent level increase to 65. Well back in the day when Level 50 was the cap nor was Level 60.

I think difficulty level was toyed with for this expansion and its not been balanced correctly. Otherwise why didn't we see the similar issues with Delta Rising scaling ?

Delta Rising at launch had some crazy issues with enemy damage at launch untill you reached 60 then things seemed better after that.

Only thing I noticed at launch of Delta Rising was the massively inflated hitpoints of NPC's, their damage output didn't seem to be any higher. But then I was running pre-made's back then as it was impossible to pug due to instant fail conditions.

The funniest thing to me about the issue as it stands right now is that they want people doing hive onslaught over the weekend. Shields, armor, miracles, nothing saves you in HSA from the megacrit issue. There's no way to get it done in the time listed, no way to keep from getting everyone killed by the queen. Even if you have a superDPS char sitting in there with you. They die instantly same as everyone else.

I'm sorry, but none of this is true.

The 'mega crit' you're referring to is the one shot lance from the unimatrix. If you position yourself by the queen in between the two unimatrix, that beam can't hit you.

The queen is killing you because of the feedback pulse. This one gets me a lot too, and is the one issue I kind of agree on. You can get past it by holding your fire until it expires or having someone hit her with SubNuke. My big complaint with the queen is it should be easier to tell when she has the Feedback pulse active. Apparently, there is an icon that shows this, but I can never see it. I usually die to her once.

The rest of the queue really isn't that hard on advanced. If you're not having any luck in a public group try asking your fleet or on the DPS Bronze channel, you'll get through it without any issues.

Elite is a different issue, that requires a pretty solid team. I have never even considered pug'ing Elite, I only do that with friends from my fleet.

Actually...the mega crits can creep up in HSx. I've seen it happen. But it sure as heck isn't all the time. More often than not, it's the invis torp of doom that gets you in this queue. Which could be mistaken for mega crits I suppose.

Makes sense.. invisi torps are a pain.

I've still been keeping my eyes peeled for this but nothing concrete aside from one fluke incident on my end. Like I said previously, I would love to be able to get you guys a definitive answer on this one way or another, but I need raw combat data to do so. If you guys can get me some combat logs from runs where you've noticed the mega critting taking place, then I can analyze them and pass them up the chain. I believe you guys that something weird is going on but I need the data to demonstrate it. If you guys can get me that, then we can see about a possible fix.

I haven't seen it since the patch. The only place I was seeing it (or at least noticing it) was that dang Tholian Red Alert, but haven't seen it since. I have taken some big hits, but I expect that.. nothing has been a 1 shot that there was no way to defend against. So far so good on my end.

I saw on Counterpoint some of the torpedo impacts, pre damage resistance, were higher than my hull capacity (and running a battlecruiser, so not that fragile)

Here's what I came across last night, while doing the Tzenkethi RA:

    bDZB5q5.jpg

Didn't they fix things a while ago, to where Torp Spread wouldn't crit on the whole spread, but with each individual torp? That Spread II seemed like every one of them crit... EDIT: on second look, it seems the Spread may not be crits...but still, I don't think I've ever hit for that much per torp without it being a crit...

The single torp one was a one-hit from full shields/hull...

Yeah, I've gotten some pretty heavy hits from the Tzenkethi. It doesn't help that tetryon's proc strips shields.

I really should save up the Lobi to pick up that Tetryon Torpedo for my Tet build...
Spent it all on a Discovery EV suit and the Hunter armor. NEXT time I'll get the torp.
