So excited to learn the Winter or Anniversary Ships may be...

strathkinstrathkin Member Posts: 2,666 Bug Hunter
Well I admit I'd love to see a change for the Winter event this year as the last 6 year's have always been Breen. The Anniversary event is usually very good for offering various ship types and on one rare occasion even offered a Fed Ody ship (Season 2) after a design contest.

Anniversary's have seen various options from Kobali Engineering Ship, Krenim Science Ship, Lukara Science another time... ...even the Summer event has had Risian T5 ships before offering a single Ferengi Tactical or the latest two Vorgon Ships...

I'd admit that I would love to see a change... ...but am OK if the trend continues, just be nice for a little more variation.

Wish we'd be given an Andorian / Aenar T6 Engineering Ship as the last we saw of them was T5 ZEN Store options. I understand most Federation races contribute toward Federation ship designs but there are still a few unique holdout's each race sometimes produces on their own. Perhaps they are saving Andorian / Aenar ships mostly for a potential future ZEN store unlock as they have with a few Caitian, Feresen, Orion, or other race ships have slowly expanded onto the scene.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see what surprises or exciting new things might unlock this year. I thought the winter sweater's last year was an amazing addition I would have loved to see earlier. Maybe we might get some nice new Ski Pants or Performance Ski Outfit this year? Hopefully the news will be revealing in the coming weeks ahead...

Maybe I'm just old, but spending time wondering what's coming isn't something I do. When it comes, I'll find out. That's it.

Aenar ships? Do the Aenar even have ships?

This years winter event ship would very likely be a T6 version of the Plesh Brek Heavy Raider, and next years summer event ship will no doubtfully be the Vorgon Cruiser which will likely be a science vessel.

I wouldn't have a clue what next years anniversary ship will be though, but I can guess out of nowhere that it could be a T6 version of the Ambassador class, we did have a few new missions involving that class of ship "Beyond The Nexus" and the Enterprise C's crew "Survivor".

Gee, Brain. What are we doing this holiday season?

The same thing we do every holiday season Pinky, Run a loop on a slippery surface.

Why are we going to do that Brain?

Because we want the carrot pinky. The shiny Breen Carrot.

And for a moment I thought someone would take the risk to publish leaks.

Yup T6 Plesh most likely, but no, we already have the T6 Ambassador in the Guardian! I'm 99% sure in the Dev blog released at the time this was mentioned as it's successor. Anyone can see the resemblence. It would be good if they just allowed parts from the Ambassador to mingle as I have every iteration of the Ambassador.

Frankly it looks totally dissimilar to the Ambassador, the Gaurdian is more refined in shape and less geometric in design, i found it difficult to wonder if it really is an upgrade over the Ambassador or the galaxy class which it looks a lot more like.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

It's not an upgrade of anything. If it was, it would have the original's skin option and their consoles would be cross-compatible.

Agreed. Just because they are similar in stats (which I do not deny) does not make it the same ship. The current pattern is to have the higher tier ships of the same lineage be able to use each other's skins. Until that happens with the Guardian and the Ambassador, I will not believe they are the same ship.

Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Also the stats don't match up the same way particularly the console slot setup when you compare the Fleet Guardian to the T5U Fleet Support Cruiser (Ambassador)

The breen ships are some of the best looking space ships in star trek and the game so I hope they keep making them.

    Plus, its tradition.

And Cryptic destroyed the Summer Event tradition of Risian ships with a Ferengi ship and 2 Vorgon ships. It is about time we destroy the Winter Event tradition.

Personally, I hope for a Snowconian ship or a Snow Borg Icecube.

I never got any of the Risian ships, but I would love a T6 Risian Corvette, they would obviously give it the pilot spec.

Same...I'd love a t6 corvette, especially if its new console has a passive that over 200 impulse, you leave burning trails as you fly, bttf style

Hoping for the T6 Breen Raider, which would also be good for those who missed on the T5 to unlock the frigates on the Sarr Theln carrier.

I never liked the appearance of classic Breen ships, but their T6 skin remakes with the shiny black texture options are pretty awesome, and the ships themselves are excellent. Only yesterday on a tac main got the warship to 48K DPS pug ISA, and I'm pretty sure I can get it to do a bit more. My lowly alts and alt accounts also benefit greatly from these ships.

    Someone asked about Aenar Ships

They don't exist and they will never exist.
Aenar are some kind of Albino Andorians
They are so rare, for most Andorians they are a myth

How could they even build a ship?
and why would they ever need to ?
the only thing you might get a standard Andorian shuttle build by a Aenar

There was a leak a while ago in a discussion about the winter ship, but it was quickly edited out by the moderators.
As one who was unfortunate enough not to see which ship it was the winter ship 2017 remains a mystery to this point.

It might be visible in sections of tribble, but that is merely a guess.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

    A man of taste.

Plus, I know what the ship will be, but I'm not going to spoil it for "legal" reasons.

Personally, I don't really care. I am going to make the effort claim the Winter Event Ship, but I generally do not command any of them unless there was a specific need to do so.

T6 Breen Sarr Theln Carrier (2014 Winter) - Basically for my Romulan Sci captain. Was not interested in purchasing the T5 Dyson Science Destroyer since it was bugged. No other science vessel for Romulans in the C-Store.

T5 Dyson Science Destroyer (2014 Anniversary) - Switched over my Romulan Sci captain to this ship when Cryptic decided to make all Event Ship account unlocked rather than character bound in 2015. My KDF Sci captain also switched over to this ship.

T6 Krenim Science Vessel (2016 Anniversary) - No sign of T6 science vessels for KDF and Romulans. Both Sci captains switched over to this ship.

T6 Vorgon Heavy Escort (2016 Summer) - Just for fun... For a Fed Tac captain switching from anti-proton to tetryon weapons for the hell of it.

I will also claim the 2017 Winter Event Ship on my free to play account. But out of tradition since 2015 all my character will continue to command the free T5 starship selected at level 40. Now if Cryptic was to release a T6 Vor'cha, then grind Dil until I can get enough to exchange for Zen to buy that ship. At that point I would also look into get T6 C-Store ships for my Romulan and Fed captains as well. More Dil grinding of course...

Breen Ships are where symmetry went to die, as in the have none. Loved DS9 but Breen ships are the Ugliest ships in all of science fiction.

Being asymmetrical looks good on space ships and makes sense.

One of the most valid criticism against sto is that there is far far too much symmetry in designs.

Being asymmetrical or symmetrical is only dependent on the alien's aesthetics. There is no sense in ship science fiction starship design. All that matters is what looks cool. A 16th Century Galleon, canoe, submarine, school bus, phone booth, or whatever crazy design makes as much sense as any other science fiction starship design.

Well I have to admit some of the T6 Breen ships do look better with the new material a few of them received. I still rarely fly them - I'm not a fan of the non symmetry of them either. I did get the Carrier in Winter 2014 and I think I obtained one TAC variation 2016. Still given we've seen at least 7 Breen ships I'd really love a change...

What I'd mostly love to see is finally a new / revised winter event:
    1. Fishing was perhaps an obvious long overdue addition given the pond.
    2. Would love the other Downhill Ice Race updated for Ice Skates (Winter Boots) to Skate to Victory!
    3. Or a downhill luge or skeleton race with more gradual decline but would require terrain redesign.

I keep saying it be nice to then give us a Winter Performance outfit like Downhill Skiers, Luge, Skeleton, or Ice Skaters wear for racing. I think the wetsuit for summer is one of the most unique outfit's you can earn from the event. I loved the sweater's last year; if only we could wear them while Skating on Andoria.

If only Q would extend his mis-adventures to the Andorian part as well... Hehehe...

Absolutely. Having some "messed up" looking ships every now and then is refreshing. We have a billion variations of the Enterprise, so I say enough with that already (nothing against the fanboys, but those ships are way too cliché for me).

Some of my favorite looking ships are:

    Breen ships
    Orion Blackguard
    Malon Cruiser
    Tal Shiar Adapted ships
    Kar'Fi
    Vo'Quv
    Vaadwaur ships
    Ferengi ships
    Sphere Builder ships
    Horizon Class Research Science Vessel
    Xindi Ateleth

If I'm missing something in the list, feel free to add. Though not saying I use all of these ships, since I tend to use whatever is most "effective" for my goals (sadly).

Well I thought a unique or new Andorian / Aenar be nice but I'd gladly welcome a Ferengi Ship for Winter... ...even love a Tal-Shiar Adapted Ship if they offered an event T6 variation - I know they'd not be quite as equipped as the Lobi variations but still they'd be hugely popular especially for Romulan's - especially if they used Romulan Interior's.

I'd argue that the Malon Battlecruiser is the ugliest.
