Launcher Crashes with Discord Running

We've recently been made aware of an issue where, on Windows 10, the launcher for Cryptic Studios games can crash while Discord is running. This appears to be related to the overlay feature. There are several known ways to work around this issue.
1. Run the game launcher via the Arc client.
2. Run the game launcher with Administrator permissions.
3. Disable the Discord Overlay feature while opening the launcher.
4. Exit Discord while opening the launcher.

Any one of these may allow you to run the launcher without crashing, and if you had disabled the Discord overlay or closed Discord before launching, you should be able to re-enable it before clicking Play if desired.

As of the original post, we're still a little early in diagnosis, so the workarounds above may have limited usefulness for some players.

Push that crapware spy ware arc again. Maybe you guys could hire a QA department and make sure that common progarms do not cause crashings.

Could this also be the reason I can't stay connected for more than from 2 to 30 seconds?

No, wait, I switched to Steam when Arc acted up again two months ago.

You mean my switching to steam is causing the server to timeout??

Haven't been crashing, but I'm unable to switch to desktop with Win button. Good ol' Win 10 problem came back with Season 13.5. *sigh*

There's no need to run Steam or Arc to play STO.

As I have stated previously, I installed STO under Steam but always run it directly from the 'Star Trek Online.exe'. No problems.
